I notice you didn't mention "polarity" my car is a "negative ground". I also notice you don't use the regulator- but other say I need to have mine rewired. Do I need a regulator? and do I need to do anything with the "12 volt Retro PowerMaster Gen" as far as switching it to neg. ground before I put it in? Sorry I'm asking what might be stupid question- but I'm not a mechanic - While I can do the work- I can't get the proper info or conflicting info. Like I know my horns did work- and wiring gram shows where to hook up the one on the drivers side- but the passger side horn has no tabs or marking- but there's no close up to that side. So I don't know if I'm hooking it uo wrong or it's the horn or the relay. But thanks for the video -it clears up a lot. one more thing -what brand of 12 volt battery is that- all I can find locally is the large square type.
There is no need to covert to 12 volts. Just use 1 gauge battery cables and a Group 2 or larger battery. It will crank fine. How do you think we drove cars back when everything was 6 volts? PS: You use an 8 volt battery in 6 volt cars. All you have to do is re-calibrate the voltage regulator.

Until you need a boost or want to add a new accessory or charge your phone etc etc. 12V is an upgrade.
There is almost every need to upgrade to 12v. The day I needed a jump I ordered a kit.
