I received mine yesterday and wow, it's amazing! My only very small complaint is that I was under the impression that the side USB-C would act as a pass through if the other USB-C was plugged into my phone. Meaning, I thought it would not only not draw off the battery of my phone but also charge my phone while all connected as I have an extremely cheap dongle DAC that does just that. I'm definitely going to keep it as it really brings my Edition XS to life without having to sit at my desk, using all my big equipment. This DAC is small and packs a huge punch at an extremely budget cost. Great review! 👍

Hello, good video, I am new to this audiophile and I just bought this ka17, I would like to know which model of Fiio brand in-ear headphones is compatible to get the most out of it.
Great review! So I’ve been using the Fiio Q1 Mark II for the past few years! Just recently ordered the Fiio JT1’s and I’m not sure if my current dac will push it. So I’m looking at either getting this or the Fiio K11. Which would you pick? FYI I love punchy bass! 😂

My audio reference is slight V Shape . I like enough bass slam yet has enough clarity on the highs as well .thx a million 😊😊😊
@BrianLimoa Ka13 is awesome and much cheaper too. Comparing to a desktop unit like fiio K7, Ka13 Brings out the mids and bass noticeably. Your music sounds punchier more alive. K7 does have more power so bass is stronger, but only when the music calls for it. Most of the time, Ka13 just sounds way better. Ka17 is a replacement for the Ka5 which sounds exactly like K7 with alot less power. Volume adjustment in Ka13 sukks and it does got slightly hot compared to other less power dongles..

And is there another one around the $200 range that you’d pick over the BTR7 and Moonriver 2 TI? Thank you if you end up finding this comment and replying! TLDR: Looking for a new dongle dac, im in the ~$200 range, and am interested in the KA17, BTR7 and Moonriver 2TI (or any others in that pricerange that may be better) (I only use IEMs)
Thanks for the review👍… I want to ask, do you drive your IEMs only single ended with FC6 or you get some adapter like DD hifi to use also 4.4 IEMs Thank you❤️🙋♂️
Well, yes of course, but it would alow me to use Hiby FC6 with my 4.4 IEM cables, so I don't have to change it all the time...DD hifi has one it's called I think DJ 44Cpro...✌️ 🔆
I am looking for a DAC for my iPhone. A friend a mine sells an used Mojo 1 for the KA17 price. How do both DAC’s compare, do you think ? Which would you go for ? A new KA17 or an used Mojo1 ?
I'm very familiar with the Mojo 1. In my experience, it deserves the hype it has gotten over the years. I don't own one anymore so I couldn't do a side by side but going by memory if I'm choosing based on pure sonic performance, I would choose the Mojo 1. It has basically the same power and level output at 32 ohms. But here are some things to consider. It's old and used, its big, It doesn't have a type C input or any balanced outputs (although it's a very well implemented single ended output. And there are two!) Honestly, not a bad deal at that price point. Tough choice! Thanks for watching!
I've wrote this to someone else: I've used both the FiiO KA5 and the FiiO KA13, and in my experience, they are both excellent, particularly the KA13, which is an underrated portable DAC. The choice between them depends on your use case. I have a lot of headphones, and the KA13 handled them very well due to its Desktop mode. While it doesn't drive the headphones fully, it still packs a heavy punch. The KA5, on the other hand, is more suited for IEMs compared to the KA13. I've upgraded to the K17 because I had a lot of powerful headphones that needed more than 60 Ohms to drive them. (Beyerdynamic DT990 and other Sennheiser headphones). If you focusing on using IME's then the KA13 is a better pick from the KA5. If you are tight on a budget then I'd recommend the KA5 or the Moondrop Dawn Pro USB DAC/AMP. All these products are less than 80$ after tax (Look at AliExpress and avoid Amazon cause you'd pay a bit more).
From my own experience I would recommend to sell it, and buy Ananda nano that works fine out of weak source, no need stationary amp set-up. In my case it works perfectly with a simple DAP Hiby r6iii. I have an 4100 mw amp too, but it collects dust now, planning to sell it after he400se
I'm after a DAC to use with my tablet inside my car. I need to be able to charge my tablet and at the same time have a 3.5mm AUX cable to plug into my cars AUX input. Am I able to do this with the KA 17? In any case is there a DAC you can recommend which is constantly powered along with my tablet with the use of one USB C output from my car.
Can I charge my phone by plugging a power cable into the extra Type-C port? It would be great to have this option in case my phone or tablet's battery runs low. 🤔
Hey everyone. I have a fee great iems and an iBasso DX320 DAC which is no slouch either. Can anyone explain to me like a 5 year old, why my iems sound so much better running through the fiio and into the iBasso Dac than if I were to just plug directly into the iBasso. It a pretty noticeable improvement. Why does this happen. So now I'm dongle shopping and I find an even better one made by ifi for around $400. Is my sound just going to get better and better if I run a killer dongle into the ibasso first. Does this always happen? Iems using currently. Unique Melody Indigo ($2000) and the Moondrop Aria 2's - which sound almost better than the Indigos and I got a pair used for $60. Now I want to sell the indigos even thkugh they do perform a little better.. but it's like adding this dongle changed everything. HAS anybody else had this happen to them? A really inexpensive sounding pair of iems almost outperforming god tier iems while using the dongle going into the iBasso Dac or better I'm really confused. Anyone in the market for the Melody Mest Indigos for a really good deal? 😅
Can the phone be charge if a powered usb c is pluged on left usb c port when the regular usb c port is pluged to the phone. It would be charging the phone while listening.

I think the IE600 is a very sensitive iem, which means you should need very little power to push it. So, most any of the dongles I compared the KA17 with should work fine. Most of the differences I noticed between the KA17, M3 MK2, Moonrover 2 Ti, Yuki, and several other dacs (in that price range) were only with full size headphones. With iems they all performed almost on the same technical level but with just very minor differences in the overall sound presentations. That being said the KA17 offers more features. If you don't need the extra features, any of those shold work. Honestly you would probably even be fine with the Snowynight or Dawn Pro. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

KA17 loses completely to the old cayin n6 first. Both with iem and hd800. At all. Everything is worse - the amount of air, transparency, frequencies. I don’t take higher levels in desktop DACs, this is an ordinary Chinese player for 500 dollars from 10 years ago. Now I’m comparing it live and I’m amazed - what tests guys? Did you even really listen to him? Both from a phone and from a computer. No, maybe, of course, others are even worse. But damn, $150 for an external dac that's barely better than Bluetooth ears? Damn, it's a mess. UNHAPPY. One plus is that the phone does not carry the n6 via USB, there is not enough power supply, and the KA17 plays without problems with the iPhone 15 pro max. Same as with the W11 computer and macbook pro
FiiO had me at THX AAA, then Dave comes in and tells me that it has a separate USB-C for power and that it is on par with the MoonRiver 2 Ti. Looks like I am getting one of this.
Good afternoon. The product arrived in good condition, but the technical condition is simply terrible. the software is raw and unfinished. Fiio claims that this is a flagship product, but in fact it is a complete disgrace. however the price is very high. I ask you to compensate this amount as moral damages for wasted time and money

Not only you are making superb reviews, both factually and video graphically, but your room interior is pretty as well!
I just got mine and updated it to Firmware 2.00. It's 20 times better than the stock firmware it came with. No problems with the EQ settings and etc.
