- A brief history of that very well known empire commercial jingle, transcribed and arranged by myself, including some variations. Research included watching over 100 empire commercials from 1979 onward, a lot of online reading on the official site and some (and I stress SOME) wikipedia. In addition to audio and sheet music, there are also little footnotes in the scores that give a little background info on that particular version of the jingle. It also included an original arrangement by myself.
All the audio I compiled is here: app.box.com/s/...
All of the sheet music is here: app.box.com/s/...
Thanks for watching!

Oh dude. I hope you had booze.
I had Doritos and Mountain Dew at the ready so I was good, trust me...

1:24 is the one I saw on a vine
mead1955 you dont need booze when the commercials are the booze
Moira Russell _My guy that just sounds like every Tuesday?_
Speaking facts my man
my body legit disintegrated from this planet when i heard the 2003 version
Amiee Irene me too thanks
My body jut had a enjoyment after hearing them all
It sounds like a 60s cartoon
1:10
Same here! That was frighteningly nostalgic haha😅
wth were they thinking with that first 2003 version
Idk
Not bad, why do assholes think it's bad
Its my fav
I’m with Xavier it was good but they almost had the modern one down so I don’t know why they would change it
Shadman's Shack I’m sorry that people can’t post there opinions
Here's a fun fact: Lynn Hauldren (the Empire Man) wrote and recorded the tune used for the jingle!
This jingle is a part of my childhood and will always hold a place in my heart.
Agreed
idk why im even watching this
Vic ikr
I have math homework I have to do, and I'm here.
I've never seen this ad in my life but TH-cam has brought me into this 588-2300 spiral so why leave?
I still don't get why they just added an out of tone "800" in the 1995 one. Why not just redo the whole thing?
My guess is that it preserved the catchy melody people remembered from the 70s. Adding the 800 to the beginning was less invasive, and we see how redoing the whole thing caused backlash in 2003.
But they redid it in 2004
Irk!
@@coffeestainedwreck this is the most correct thing I've seen on that fact. It seems however They did try to redo the whole thing even earlier in 1995, but until 2004 said screw it. Let's cut out everything except 800 and keep the orignal melody recording until it's out of date. In 2003 then redid it again. Which because of today being in their. The melody changed and people hated it. So since the old recording was outdated and low quality by 2004 standards, they decided to use the old rerecording from 1995 since it was still of enough quality. So they then used that with everything intact. You can notice the 800 being the same between the 1995 and 2004 verisons. That's how I got my assumptions
I have a theory, since they added the 800 in the 1995, then that means the present jingle was made in 1995 as well, but they just waited to use it?
The strings version is very nice
Since i was a little kid this has always been my favorite tv jingle!!
@Elkanah Dixson tor·ment
noun
/ˈtôrment/Submit
1.
severe physical or mental suffering.
"their deaths have left both families in torment" Okay.. your suffer from this??
Elkanah Dixson Impossible, the sweet rings of the Empire commercial can cure cancer
@@LovelyYT Because the 2005-2010 Empire Today jingle used to torment her because she thought it was scary as a kid.
I really like the strings version.
same
It sounds like the legend of Zelda
Idk why but it makes me emotional about life.
Some of these were really scary wtf.
yeah ikr
Can I sleep with you tonight? Jk!!
Especially the 1977 one?
@@chrisloveslogos93 yep
2003 is de worst
For the first 2003 jingle, the written score is in D major, but the jingle itself is in C# major.
+Jordin Wang Nice catch!
it's d flat major
For the second one? I noticed that too
Correctamundo!
@@frogg002 same thing
Yikes, that 2003 version was pretty terrible. It's a good thing they smartened up and went back to the more classic style. The original (and now current) jingle is way catchier than the 2003 version.
Thought the same! This is a classsssssic MKE ad... oh & don't forget about "Emergency ('mergency, 'mergency!!) Emergency T-V SERRRRRR-vice!!!"
Kazeto Nekoshima Agreed
Adam Zey EMPIRE TODAAAAAAAAAAAA-
Yeah so was 1983
It scared me
The string version was amazing ❤️
my dog howls like crazy everytime the jingle plays
Lol
Stefron Pasc you have the best dog then
DOG dog dog dog DOG dog, DOG DOG DOG DOG, dog DOG! Today! (Ruff)
🤣🤣
i swear the 2003 one was possessed by a demon
@Alexander Castillo idc its sounds terrible
Incorrect.
The same can be said for the 1977 version too.
this is my life now
0:10(0:22: "At the piano", 0:34: "Kids"): 1977-1983

1:10: Empire *Today(2003)
0:46, 0:54, 1:06: My favorite
In the 70-80s it sounds like a sample used in an aesthetic song
Thanks for compiling all these versions! The first 2-3 sound quite flacid. Both the Empire Carpet and My Pillow Jingles would have fit in perfectly with the late 1950s commercial culture! :)
Zickcermacity Is to
Anyone else annoyed at the fact that the 800 in the 1995 version is in a different key from the other part of the jingle?
Yeah lol
i think the 800 is from the second "2003" recording since it sounds perfect there. as mentioned there too, its likely that version was used in the 90s, just with no "today". that likely means that second "2003" jingle dates to about 1995
Damn, lotta effort must've gone into this. thanks man
Thank you for this Empire jingle! 🥰🥰🥰
I absolutely love this jingle. Didn't even know someone cared enough to give the history of this timeless classic, in my humble opinion.🙂
I like the 1984-95 version the best. 0:45
1:22 The most iconic one.

I am curious why, if they changed to Empire Today in 2003, why did the 1983 kids version also say Today at the end?
Their slogan throughout the 80s was "Empire today, carpet tomorrow".
I think kids said Yay or something
Empire Today Carpet Tomorrow Slogan
No, they say hooray

1977-1983
Piano
2003-present

Im especially fond of the piano version and hope that someone made a video replicating the piano version
1:23 Vine
*good sounding jingle*

In the 1995 version I love how they just added the 2003 800 with the previous jingle
0:10 The OG

0:46 City and Town background (Dynamite Sale)

Literally one of the most successful and well known as campaigns of ALL TIME. Real organic advertising.
0:58 my fav one
Why does everyone hate the 2003 one? It kinda fresh doe
I love it.
I should be asleep right now
Omg I need to go to sleep
This jingle makes me happy
the Strings version to Me comes off as a Spike Lee sound .. sounds as if it was in Do the Right Thing, Mo Betta Blues or Malcolm X ... it just has this crazy vibe .. don't even hear it as some Jingle ... I wanna and am gonna create something outta that .. soon
thank you for making this
why am i so invested in this what
I used to mimic the cat jumping on the couch in sync with the ad!
There are many versions of the commercial jingle of this commercial.
i liked the meme now its just history ...
1:22 NUT
They should bring back the OG one from the late 70’s, the current one gets on my nerves after hearing it so many times in the past 10+ years
Who else like the 1995 one to 2002
I like the 1984-1995
it’s 1:30am where am i
i started choking when the 2003 one played
Iconic
Why do they say it so fast in 2003?
Sa'Mya Johnson probably had a limited time so they had to do the ending quickly
No it's because it's the start of them say today right after they said empire listen to the old versions and then the 2003 one dumbasses I can't believe NONE of you guys notice!
They had to fit in the “today” so they sped it up
Nicely done.

I got here because I heard Ellie kemper sing this on the Ellen show when she went to dj school. I thought it was just an Indianapolis jingle.
Is it just me or do I like the first one and the kids
Nope its not just you
Excellent!!
i like this empire jingle for 2003
1984-1995 is my favorite
I THINK THE EMPIRE TODAY 2003 VERSION OF THE JINGLE IS THE BEST
How did I get here all the way from a freaking vine compilation
2003:

The 1995-2002 Jingle Has Been Used Until Like Spring 2003.
I like the instrumental strings one
Me finding out that there is sheet music for this: Immediately scrambled for the sheet music for alto sax.
*800-588-2300 Empire Today *beat**
Thank you for this, who is the composer?
It is assumed that the empire man himself (Lynn Hauldren) wrote this.
I'm sure the company would have that info in their records. #residuals
I liked both 03 jingles...
1:27 the note on the electric bass is a should be C# not D natrual
0:11 Scary enpire
Who finds it ironic how the “800” part of the present-day jingle was shoved into in the “588-2300” jingle before just going with the full sample and not just the “800” part
800-588-2300
Empire!
odd how that 2003 jingle in reality likely dates to 1995. they should have just used that to begin with
1:10 Loud Warning

Too many Zeros.
1:36 thats when empire today dies that's the funeral song and your comment shows

0:47 I love that ONEEEE😎
1:22 nice
The 2003 variant is literally barbershop quartet grindcore
1:23 the nostalgia...
1:09 I like this one the best!
1:10 it sounds like a 60s cartoon
1983, Empire strikes back
I actually like the jingle :3

1:43 sounds like the Empire today 2030 logo
i dont like any of them before the 800, they feel empty
The last one makes me warm even in the middle of antarctica
The 1984 version is my favorite
Am I the only one thinking who were the people who sung the “800 588 2300 Empire!!!”
No I was thinking about it too
Why tf tis so nostalgic tho?
The piano one kinda sounds like an old gaming company logo like Sega
Did you find a commercial where they have some competitor carpet guys keep saying "oh boy"
tell me that first one isnt terrifying
shut up february sadie
1:22 this is what you came for
Why did I read this as Jungle?
1977?
The style of the music is definitely 1950s !
