Rendezvous Vocal Group - Empire Today Session

This group of singers are just great! Don't know where they are now. I hope they see this and like it. Just one of my vhs documented Reeves Audio Recording sessions around 2010, produced by Lynn Hauldren, writer & singer of the "588-2300" Empire Carpet commercials.

I've always seen people say how they get chills when they hear music so amazing. I've never had something like that til now. So that's what it feels like to get chills hearing something so beautiful.

Did they sing the updated version of the Empire jingle? Great picture with Lynn Hauldren at the end. Lord, rest his heart and soul!

Their spot ran for a couple of months and then the agency replaced it with the original version of which Lynn is the originator and producer and one of the singers (although the legend has it that he sang all and or Ed or Fred from The Arbors is in there too) and now Lynn just says “today“ at the end of it. They wanted to change the entire campaign and Lynn fought to keep it the signature sound that it’s had all these years. But we just couldn’t match that sound with that group as wonderful as they were. Prior to this session, Lynn called me and asked me if I could take the existing commercial and create the 800 intro out of the original voices. I actually took the sung “8-300” and edited and pitched it into the “800” and added it as the updated intro to the original as per Lynn’s request! I had even created a “Today” outro from the lyric “2” and the “8” but they went with Lynn’s “Today” voiceover that still remains!
