  • This weeks video comes to you from Orchid Lakes also known as 'The Home Of The Thirties' where me and 4 other anglers took a 48 hour trip to see if we could have any of those fish out!
    The weed was a major issue in this one, and as I've not got any experience fishing weedy venues, this session definitely humbled me and made me think a lot about my angling and the homework and research i need to do before heading to other venues.

    Love the honesty and enthusiasm mate. I have fished Orchid once and found it really tough too. Lovely venue but not an easy catch to be had - luck and hard work required!

    If in dawt with weedy waters. I use 3ft zigs if like you said weed isnt 3ft. Or us a choddy and bait up with chops. Corn nice and light bait that will sit on the weed.
    Great vlog pal

    One thing I have learned over the years is not to get down over a blank. I have gone on a 7 session blank thinking maybe I’m doing something wrong then all of a sudden I land a 34 lb 8oz mirror doing exactly what I have always done. You are either on the fish or not. Love your channel I guarantee a 30 will come.

    Orchid is a proper water, its seen the best Carp Anglers around on it. The fish have seen every rig ever invented. It's no hole in the ground like Todber where a bag anywhere will catch.

      it is a proper water as i soon found out! you're completely right there mate! definitely a lot different to Todber - just different lakes with different styles of fishing!

    • @andymorgan457
      @andymorgan457 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @kingsaf3998 Considering the original poster fishes Todber a lot, it's not a bad example to mention compared to Orchid. Orchid is full of bars, reeds, weed, snags and silt patches. Todber isn't, it's a man made fishery with nothing but islands. The lakes are overstocked and with pegs in spitting distance of the next swim with every angler using 3 rods, it's a recipe for a disaster. The lakes are built for Pot Noodle Carpers, Orchid isn't, its a stunning lake which will test the seasoned angler. The only problem I have with Orchid is the noisy road behind it, other than that, it's epic.

    You aint the first to get handed your backside by orchiid and wont be the last..... as long as you go home believing youve done your best there is no shame.....if you sat on your back side and didnt think and didnt try...thats on you..... good effort fella.....if it was easy it would become boring......hence you look for bigger challenges....to stretch yourself , your knowledge and abilities.... keep at it buddy....

    5k over each rod is crazy. I mean, how is that affordable 😂
    Bulk your bait up with cheap pellet, liquids, corn etc, this will bring the costs down and manageable.
    We did orchid a few months ago, and had Annie at 40lb , hero at 38, another 30, and a fair few mid 20’s
    Each rod had one scoop of bait with it…

    • @southcoastangler
      @southcoastangler  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s the fox easy shelter! It’s always done me well in the summer but never used it in the depths of winter.. if I know the weather isn’t looking good I’ll use my frontier but for I wouldn’t mind using it on long sessions so long as the weather was okay! Absolutely fine in showers and mild winds!
