Glock 19 vs Sig Sauer P365 X Macro, What's Better?

  • Today I'm once again talking about firearms. In this video I compare my experiences shooting the Glock 19 and the Sig Sauer P365 X Macro.
To sum up my talking points, I have had malfunctions with both pistols. These are man made machines and they do sometimes fail. Although in the course of owning and firing these two guns I have still determined them to be reliable. What this comparison really comes down to is a matter of preference. Do you want a dedicated concealed carry pistol with the P365 X Macro? Or do you want a versatile, do-it-all gun like the Glock 19?
I've discovered in my range sessions that while I can manipulate both weapons quickly and accurately, the Glock 19 is the better shooting gun for me. Despite having an inferior trigger, grip texture, and only iron sights, the Glock is easier to control, fire quickly, and remain accurate with. While the P365 is an innovative design that shoots well and comes optics ready from the factory, I find the gun to be significantly snappier in terms of its recoil impulse.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Enjoy.

I have multiples of both. It's pretty simple to me. The Glock 19 shots better due to its size and weight and is more reliable for a heavily used gun. The Sig is easier to carry, has better ergos and holds two extra rounds. The Sig will not be as durable and reliable over a 20K round life but is fine for a lower round count gun. The modular design doesn't do much for me as I'm going to own tons of guns regardless. I prefer the simplicity of the Glock being a Glock Armorer as I find the Sig a bit more difficult to work on. Both solid guns though.

"A Sig is a bit more difficult to work on..." what an understatement. It takes me worlds longer to take apart the FCU to change a trigger shoe compared to the ability to completely detail strip a Glock with a 3/32 punch pin in the matter of a few minutes. It's no contest if you want to be self sufficient with your defensive pistol.

I owned a West German SIG P226 in the 1980's, which really set the bar for an out of the box, reliable combat handgun. Both the P320 and P290RS where train wrecks with a multitude of failures. It seem any new SIG product launch today is a disguised opportunity for consumers to become unpaid Beta Testers. I will never, ever buy any new SIG product. That being said I have two friends that own and carry a P365 and are happy campers, while my other friends daily carry Glock and Walther firearms respectfully. Right now I'm considering switching to a FN Reflex MRD, going to a range next week to try before buying.

A great and informative video. I’m glad we have more innovation these days and we’re able to get such a thin pistol that still behaves like a full size pistol. With that being said I’ll still take a Glock simply because I shoot that better, but I would love to carry my dad’s XMacro if that was an option (I don’t own one).

Good video overall. It all started with the 1911. ALL semiauto handguns are based to some degree off that platform. The Glock raised the bar on reliability and durability. The Sig Sauer P365 (and P320) have once again raised that bar. This time in flexibility, features, and capacity. I have a couple of Glock 19s along with Sig P320s and P365s. I shoot my Sigs FAR better than almost any Glock I've ever shot. My P320 has been Extremely reliable for me. My XMacro is my newest setup and I'm still figuring out how I want to configure it.

My current EDC and Duty gun is a Tac Ops X Macro w/ a full size EPS and FDEZ large back strap. I shoot it better (faster and more accurately) than any of my Glocks and P320s. BUT there are like 3 or 4 generations of the 17 round magazines already, and I couldn't get the X Macro to "Trust with my life" reliability until swapping all the mag springs with ISMI springs.
After about a thousand rounds without malfunction with 124gr +P and 115gr training ammo and finding about 7 magazines I can trust, it was a long road for my most current p365 x macro.
I think Sig does have "better" options, but their QC is so bad I can't recommend anything besides their tried and true 226/229s.
Glock is like In N Out burger. Super limited options, but you know what you're getting. Sig is like that hole in the wall dine in restaurant with good classic items but questionable daily specials.
I often times joke with people that if they want to get good at weapons manipulation and malfunction clearing, buy a Sig and a Glock. Sig for practice, Glock for Duty/carry.

Slow fire I group the macro better slightly but at speed it’s about equal. Glock feels more durable and sturdier and the width on a pistol is more a control factor than the grip length, so I prefer that form factor than these slim line deals, whether it’s a G19,M&P or CZ P10c overall. PDP is too chunky but I love the full size versions.

The Sig, with its own light and optic, is hundreds of dollars more expensive than the Glock.
The Glock on the other hand is well under 800 in total costs.
A stock Glock ran right out of the box more reliably than my SIG. again, the only thing that was modified on the gun was the sights.
