Edawn also composed the song and he’s credited first i think we should give the credits to Edawn also. Also he’s the main songwriter of Shine i think it just makes sense hes the main songwriter of this too

We should praise the Flowbow Hui, Edawn combination. But Edawn is not first in credits for Producing the tracks but he is first credited in lyrics making which is why it has such a flavour. We should praise the other two rappers who added to the flavour and wittiness of the song.
      The credits is as follow;
      Composers; Flowbow, Hui, Edawn
      Lyrics: Edawn, Hui, Wooseok, Yuto
      Arranged: Flowbow

I think the MV itself also relates to the Korean proverb, "개구리 올챙이 적 생각도 못 한다" or "A frog can't remember the time it was a tadpole," which means people who are already high up often forget how it is to be lowly and struggle.
In the MV (and real life), Pentagon does the hard and dirty work so they will succeed but it's really hard because nobody notices them, just like people don't notice ordinary workers in everyday life. Thus, the phrase "The reason I kneeled was to get ready for a leap" makes a lot of sense in that they may be low now but they're going to keep doing their best to go higher.

청개구리 means Tree frog, Green Frog
but 청(cheong) also means Denim, Blue
then, Wooseok said 청바지에 청재킷 걸친 개구리 = A frog with denim jeans and jacket.

"Um-chiki Um-chiki" Robot sound is from the movie "Robocop". That is the sound when Robocop moves. More 20 years before, a famous comedian group in Korea imitated Robocop and made that sound. So even now it is used for robot sound. Just a trivia. Haha.

Please do check out this MV and all of their others. In addition to being amazing vocalists they also compose all of their music and are pretty prolific. In just 2 years they have released 60 songs! My favorites are Shine (which is arguably the song of the year) and their last two comebacks have been Runaway and Like this respectively. Different vibes from them but amazing.

I love this Explained series! Thank you so much!
I know you guys already did a lot of BTS songs, but I think 팔도강산/"satoori rap" fits perfectly with the explained series concept, and I would love to understand it from a korean's point of view
(I would also love the see your take on GD&TOP's Zutter and Hyuna's Babe, so I'll leave these suggestions too for your pondering)

I almost cried such a beautiful song written by pentagon
After what had happened to them this song seems to be conveying message to the haters and fake universe and even cube that want to break pentagon apart T-T
Why do they want to break pentagon pentagon is just happy to be together 10 in 1 with all the supportive universe in our own lovely galaxy they always try their best to make people happy and some people still want to destroy this perfect 10? From pentagon marker till now, pentagon should be 10, they'll not be complete when one member is gone I hope pentagon can stay together forever I look forward to their ten year anniversary
Pls #cube don't break pentagon don't break the universe
Also thank u for making this video to explain this song for international fans pentagon is naughty boy but they're doing their best to pls the world

It seems so ironic to me that Pentagon are singing about wanting to change themselves for their loved one, but Bts in Fake love say that becoming another person for your love is self-destructing. Also that frog in the well reference coming up again??? This needs some explanation

I thought so too, but I came to the conclusion that all these songs can represent stages of the relationship. Naughty Boy, to me, represents the naive beginning of a relationship, thinking they can change and bury themselves and still be happy, while Fake Love represents harsh truth that that's not a good thing to do.

I guess it all comes down to what you think of yourself, if your willing or unwilling to change yourself for the one you love. "Wanting to change yourself for loved ones" versus "becoming another person is self destructing". It all depends on the person

Hi! I hope it's ok to jump in.
I think another way of looking at Fake Love, is that changing for love is not the problem, the problem is not loving yourself first. Remember, in I'm Fine, they say "Even if someday, I'm not me anymore, it's alright. Only I am my own salvation." Notice that in FL, it was always "I was this for you, I did that for you," not "You did this to me." So BTS is saying, love and know yourself first before you can start loving someone else.
In Naughty Boy's case, they know who they are. You can even say they love being who they are, they're cocky about it. They're "naughty," they are rebels, and they know they're far from perfect. But, they also acknowledge how a person has improved them or driven them to change bad habits. That person could be a lover but could also be one's friend/s. Remember that we don't live by ourselves, we are social beings.
Re: Frog in the well, the legend is that the frog thought the well was such a great place to live in because that was all they knew. So when BTS said they hoped the frogs would die in the well, they were talking about haters. It's different in Naughty Boy's case, because they're talking about themselves. Again, there's a sense of self-awareness in that, they know they "live in a well" (as rookies) but if they're gonna stay there, they might as well make it as deep as an ocean so they can live happily with their loved ones. So, in this case, it's just a difference in perspective and in how they used the metaphor, considering that these two groups have walked and are walking different paths.
(Sorry it got long, this explanation video and comments were so excellent that it got me thinking. Thank you, @dkdktv!!)
