  • @ZSistersPickleball - Anne Z and Carrie Z, discuss the common misconception that you only improve in pickleball by playing better players. They argue that playing with people of all skill levels can be beneficial.
    Here are the key points:
    * You should play with people who are better than you, equal to you, and less skilled than you.
    * Playing with better competition helps you observe their strengths and develop strategies.
    * Playing with equal competition allows you to practice your own skills and teamwork.
    * Playing with less skilled competition helps you refine your consistency and explore new tactics.
    * There are many reasons to play pickleball besides winning, including exercise, social interaction, and personal enjoyment.
    * You don't need a fancy court to practice. Visualization and simple drills with a few balls can improve your game.

I play against 4.0 and i am a 3.75 is a a big difference they are better than me and it shows me what skills i need to work on

@@teeqz_raiderfn that is true, so I order to be success trying those skills against at lesser player and doing them over and over to be confident against the 4.0 will be one way to improve. Sort of like learning to win. Study, practice and win! Thanks for the comment.

I'm new to pickleball and I'm out of shape, but I am so blessed to have found an amazing group of people who help me learn. I do learn from playing people slightly better then me but as a 2.5 player I only receive a cardio workout playing players over 3.5. I have become addicted to playing pickleball though

Great mindsets and winning mindsets! I am always finding out what I want to work on during a session and not about winning. When playing people below me I am dialing down my power shots and play drop shots and accuracy. Thanks again

I paused at 13:34, not because I wasn't enjoying the conversation but because my attention span is weak. I'll come back. What I like to do (in my rec play) is "run around my backhand" ... try to take balls on my weaker backhand. One day I hope to develop a 2-handed backhand, too. My serve is pretty good, usually deep and fast, but against weaker players I'll hit soft serves easy to return. I love down-the-line winners on either side but have to remind myself the goal is to keep the ball in play so I hit it across the middle of the net.

@@Steve_K2 you have some great ideas and goals. Many never think of anything to work on or how they want to play- and you are thinking about it! I love your back hand goal of 2 handed - to mix it up and add some control and maybe more power! Keep mixing up the serve - even hit with your backhand - some drop serves and some volley serves. Check back in every so often please. I can’t wait to hear about your progress! Love it! Don’t worry about needing to come back - Carrie and I can yak and yak about pickleball, sports and competition!
