I remember I thought I found a meteorite and thought I was rich😂 This was before internet, so I had to call this special geology company in Florida and mail the sample to them which turned out to be a melted piece of solder😂 I felt just like Steven King on Creepshow where he has crossed eyes and goofy thinking he found a meteorite and he thought he was rich😂 I pictured myself looking and acting just like him in the movie I felt ridiculous.
That last one was painful to watch. It’s a good example of confirmation bias. He’s clearly done a lot of research into what he believes it is, but has only absorbed information that reinforces his beliefs, not anything that would go against it. Slag must have come up in his research - google image search for example, but he appeared completely convinced it was a pallasite. I hope he is not too disappointed and keeps looking with an open mind.
Thank you very much for this comment. Yes it was a hard one to get through with the actual submitter on the call with us. I am really hope that he listens to our feedback and is able to readjust his thought process.

Please rewatch the first 60 seconds of this video to find out how you become a member to get your rock looked at. Also, it's the last 60 seconds of the video too. Did you watch this complete video before asking for my free help?
It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who don't listen. If would be different if you had only briefly mentioned once about the $25 support, bc maybe they were interrupted during that part or they had to fast forward thru some parts bc they didn't have enough time to watch the full video at the moment. But even then, you have to agree to rules before you can comment & it clearly stated that info there. So unless yall just recently added that part after some of these comments were made, then there really is no excuse for this many adults to be asking for free rock identification. I don't know how some of these people have managed to make it this far if they are that ...what's the word 🤔 ...Ughhh, I don't even know what to call it. Oblivious? Stupid? Anyways... unfortunately, I am not 1 of the ppl that send you $25. I am also not somebody who would have the nerve to ask for free identification as if yall don't deserve to be paid for the job you do. I actually JUST found your channel. Maybe 1 day I can afford to join but for now I just wanted to say thank yall for putting these videos out here for the rest of us to see & learn from. Instead of some asking for more of something for nothing, they should be appreciative & thankful for what yall have given.
I cannot tell you how much Sue and I enjoyed reading your comment... Twice! Thank you for seeing our POV. I really hope others read and understand. Well done 👍 ☄️

Fun comment 🤣 I wish more people were able to hear and accept science facts over the loud screams of their cash register dreams.
Good video with good science based observations of the rocks submitted.
Thanks Pat! Your insights were helpful as usual. :)
She made the comment “you don’t get chondrules inside iron meteorites….” I did not know that..thank you.
Thanks for pointing this out. It's a great reminder for us to continually repeat basic facts and information that we take for granted.

Have you guys identified any meteorites yet since starting the MW rock ID feature?
Yes, one rock was identified as a meteorite, however, the submitter asked for our confidentiality.
