There is nothing like a great anime movie. The Japanese still hand draw their movies! The art work, the crazy sense of humor, and the characters make this one stand out!

Almost every 2D animation is hand drawn 😅 both screen or paper and Japanese hand draw this because of their work culture and modern anime are screen drawn nowadays only few projects are paper drawn

@@austinneveau9387Yea most cg stuff looks horrendous, but I wouldn't write it off entirely. Take Land of the Lustrous for example: it uses mostly 3D animation, yet is absolutely stunning to watch. It's not that it looks good in spite of its usage of 3D, but rather because of it. The way the characters (who are made of gemstone) shatter into a million pieces is something that would be incredibly hard to pull off in 2D I think.
So in short, yea a lot of 3D stuff is bad, but in my opinion they're two methods of animation that can exist alongside each other for different purposes, as long as they're executed well.

    • @LuriTV
      @LuriTV 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@meino6465 true, you can still feel if a 3D movie is made with creative vision and a lot of heart for the animations like most Pixar movies are or if the were half arsed like Illumination of Blue Sky

  • @kyadabs

I loved it when the 1st time watchers didn't fully understand the movie but still cried a lot.
On the train scene. Taki didn't know Mitsuha yet cause it was 3 years in the past. Mitsuha was swapping body with future Taki. 😅

  • @r3h0l3s7
    @r3h0l3s7 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +65

Beginning of the movie when Mitsuha is in class the teacher is talking about twilight, when worlds meet. That is why they are able to see each other on top of the crater. When you see Mitsuha on screen it is like 2014, and when you see Taki it is 2017, so when Mitsuha first goes to see Taki it is 3 years before Taki starts body swapping, that is why he doesn't know her.

The simple explanation is that when they were switching places it was also a time jump so she was switching to his 3 years older self so when she meets him in the train he couldn't recognise her because for him switching didn't started and will take years
and on the mountain scene is explained by granny that when two times (night and day) meets each other the threads unfold means they meets the destiny(each other)

We saw many video impressions about the movie "Your Name". They were from North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and Asia.
Interestingly, they were emotional, regardless of race, culture, or gender.
I don't consider myself a particularly sentimental person, but the scene where the two reunite atop the lost town and the "I love you" written on their palms made me cry more than once.
This is probably due to the beautiful artwork and clever storytelling using the time difference.
In the last scene, when they passed each other on the stairs, I strongly wished they would speak to each other.
I am sure you felt the same way.

    • @Centane

Probably one of the best anime movies in its genre, certainly one of the best-looking. It will probably make more sense to you on a second viewing, once you know that their worlds are three years out of time (e.g. Taki ignores her on the train because he hasn't met her yet in that timeline; that's also obviously why they can't call or text one another).
Also, when they wake from their "dreams", they rapidly forget things like places, numbers, figures, and (most importantly) names, but they remember landscapes, faces and (most importantly) feelings. That's why Taki wrote "I love you" instead of his name; he knew that would be erased, but their love would remain.
Side trivia: the restaurant where Taki (and "Mitsuha") work is called Il Giardono della Parole, Italian for The Garden of Words, which was Makoto Shinkai's previous movie before this one (really, at 45 minutes, more a "movella"). One of the minor characters in Your Name is one of the two lead protagonists in Garden - it would be a spoiler to say who - and Taki and Mitsuha in turn have cameo roles in Shinkai's next movie, Weathering with You.
To clarify that again - Shinkai's works in order are 5 Centimeters Per Second, Garden of Words, Your Name, Weathering with You, Suzume. I haven't seen the latter yet, but I trust it's every bit as good as any of the other four, and heartily recommend any and all of them to you!

    It's such a great film.
Makoto Shinkai has mastered the romance anime with a level of animation absolutely unparalleled.
Other movies from him you should put on your bucket list is his beautiful 2007 masterpiece 5 cm per second, and the two films he did after Your Name that do use the same template (young people, a love story, magic involved) but are both great in their own rights: Weathering with you and his last one, Suzume.
Your name has already become a classic and among the best anime movies ever made.

Actually twilight in proper Japanese is "Kawatare-doki". Not "Kataware-doki". Maybe Makoto Shinkai made up this word from the original one. "Kawatare" means "Who is he?". "Doki" means time or hour. This word implies that it is difficult to see clearly people's faces or figures in the twilight. For your information, "Kataware" means one of the party.

Aw man, watching this vid got me again... The "I love you" on the hand 😭
I've had this film a while and had to search through tones of dvds to find it.
I love the stillness and how hard it hits me emotionally.
    I think you'll enjoy Makoto Shinkai's (writer/director) other films.
I watched "5 Centimetres Per Second" first and then recently "Weathering with You." Both stunning looking films.

Love this movie because I watched one or two body swap movies before, and they were all about "oh look they swapped bodies, thats so weird, now theres so much drama around it". Which is fine, sure, but I vastly prefer Your Names approach where the body swap is actually just a tool to get to the real story. Also just a creative way to have the star crossed lovers trope. What a weird long distance relationship that was :D

The Mitsuha who died did not have her red hair ribbon because she gave it to Taki in Tokyo 2013, she was sad and brokenhearted.
Then in 2016 Taki drank the sake at the shrine and made a switch with Mitsuha who was still alive in 2013 (right after her Tokyo trip). During the magic hour, they made one final switch back to their own bodies and Taki gave her the red hair ribbon back-- effectively creating an alternate universe. An alternate reality where a version of Mitsuha is alive, she has her red hair ribbon, she has knowledge of the impending disaster and most importantly, she knows she is loved by Taki.
This anime combined elements and story lines of a body switch, time travel (a unique one at that) and parallel realities in one movie. I loved this so much, what a masterpiece. ❤️

I watch a lot of movies, more than TV in fact. I try to check out a new movie every week and it's pretty handy I have a local arts cinema that has everything only five minutes walk in one direction, and a mainstream cinema for the big films in another. I've never been a big anime fan, but I honestly think that Your Name is the best film of the last ten years. Upon seeing it on the big screen I immediately booked for another screening the following day - visually it was just stunning. It doesn't lose much on the small screen either, I still get caught up in it. Keep an eye on the director and run don't walk to the cinema when his films release.

FYI: What he drank in the crater 17:38 was a type of sake (rice-based brewed alcohol), even if she spit it, it was 3 years ago so it's almost like just drinking alcohol so it's not that bad 😅
And because you seemed to be a bit confused:
And the reason why Taki didn't recognize Mitsuha in the train 21:40 is because Taki did not experience the "switch" yet. He switched with her 3 years later that's.

Your Name requires a little snooping around to make total sense, as it relies heavily on Japanese folklore and Shinto religion to play out as it does. Look up an article called 'Weaving Kumihimo into Your Name', and the 'Red Thread of Fate', and things will start to make waaaay more sense. Mitsuha creating her hair tie, and then giving it to Taki onboard the subway train, and Taki returning it to her on the mountaintop gains far more significance with those two cultural touchstones under your belt.

I agree with all of those but the last one. Your Lie in April was such a boring stupid series.

Good choice of films. Spirited Away is something special. No film has ever turned me back into an eight year old... Truly magical... and this has led to many more magical (usually Japanese) anime films.

This movie was/is (& will be) a 10/10 for me... Just stayed well with me even after many years 🥰
    Just everything was great 💯💯💯
*But still at the finale, if there was a proper closure of their reunion (i mean some tight hug or a kiss accompanied with some romantic lines) would've made it much more remarkably beautiful......but it's what it is 😊
It's a one-time masterpiece Makoto Shinkai have had ever produced and sadly none of his other works even came close to it...

I would argue that 5 Centimeters Per Second is Shinkai's masterpiece. 11/10
    Your Name 9/10 by comparison
A silent voice is a touching story. Though the English title I find misleading Shape of Voice (Koe no Kotachi) 10/10

This one is a very good anime movie, but not one of my favorites. One of my favorites, and the one I recommend is "Nausicaa of the valley of the wind".❤ An older one but I've seen it more recent than this one. You may be able to go visit the lands this anime movie portrays, but in mine you can only go there with your mind.🙂‍↔️
