6KG Curry Hainanese Rice Challenge! BEST Hainanese Curry Rice in Singapore?! | Singapore Street Food

  • In this video, we swing by Loo's Hainanese Curry Rice, one of the most requested Hainanese Curry Rice to do a 6KG curry rice challenge!
For those that may or may not know, Hainanese Curry Rice is a uniquely Singaporean dish inspired by British, Hainanese and Peranakan settlers in Singapore. A standard serving would include a fried egg, pork chops, braised pork belly and braised cabbage piled on white rice before being smothered by a thick, fragrant curry. Different restaurants would have their own take on the curry and toppings provided, with the curry usually being thick but varying in taste.
I got around 12 portions of rice, a pile of braised cabbage, 1 fried eggs (regret not getting more), braised pork belly, pork chops, curried chicken assam squid and some batang fish. Total cost for my plate is $88 bucks. Big thank you to the folks over at Loo's for allowing me to film this video during their peak hours!
Check out Loo's Hainanese Curry Rice at:
#02-67/68 Food Centre, Singapore 160071 (They moved into Tiong Bahru Market already)

Hainanese Curry Rice is quite subjective in terms of taste. I find this stall pretty good and decent. Some will love it and some will just say it’s so so or expensive. For whatever reason, we should all still support local hawkers fares instead of some fancy western fine dining which you pay so much and get so little! $88 can be shared for 6-8 people.

Based on your description & expression, don't think it's 7.5. Especially when you find fried egg is nostalgic. Subconsciously, it basically means other ingredients have not match up to your expectations. Lol 🤣🤣🤣 Also, I personally feel SGD88 is on the high side for Singapore hawker food sia. Doesn't look a lot of ingredients to me. 😂😜
When Shawn brought in 2nd stall Hainanese chicken rice, the curry color looks more appealing. The 1st stall, i guess put a lot coconut milk.
P/s: I'm sure i can duplicate the fried egg texture as nostalgic as that. Confirm you will squeal after tasting it. Hahaha 🤣

It's sad those stalls which I liked already closed shop, e.g. China Street@Maxwell and Redhill@Redhill Market. Yet to try Beo Crescent and 11-Fingers at the coffeeshop opposite the Waterloo Street's GuanYinMa Temple. Btw, I feel that $88 for that plate of stuff is a rip-off. Just 2 cents worth.

Anyway, suprised u can finish this without any issue at all but u had tough time for the JB's fried rice.
