100% difficult to understand the context behind these changes. I did see in the spectrum thread that CIG responded, but it was only really to congratulate the poster on their original way of supplying feedback. I suppose we can assume therefore the CIG are aware of the changes, and either they are difficult to reverse, or there is a purpose behind them we're yet to see. To me it seems unlikely they were accidental. There's a similar thread where someone is talking about the sound of the Defender is much less than it was. After flying Defender, Khartu and Talon, what I think has happened is either their previous acceleration triggered some of the engine sounds (which now only happens with boosted acceleration), or the sounds were deliberately changed to only happen when boosting. Another mystery, and one which strips still more away from the value of some of these beautiful alien ships.
They better fix the Khartu-al, it's only got 2 guns without missiles and has a large front facing silhouette . . . it has to be nimble or it will just be a pancake that eats everything it flies at.
It seems to me that if alien ships are supposed to have advanced thruster technology, they should be quicker and more maneuverable, if not also faster. I have no idea, but I hope these reductions are simply them doing the first balance on the first ships before master modes and reduced SCM but trying to guess what CIG is doing is pointless.
its worth noting that this has only affected single plane acceleration, angled acceleration is the same as it was before. Though it is also worth noting that now the Talon is quite a bit worse in some ways, for example, it now has about half the X-axis acceleration when compared to something like an arrow or gladius.
I really do hope the alien ships feel better as we enter the era of master modes. The talon is still my favorite ship in SC but rn its really only good for flying around and not so serious bounty missions
We usually have 2/3 of our org in talons and about 1/3 in prowlers. The talons ability to intercept and swarm is really awesome to witness. Then the prowlers usually make their way after and normally the talons are able to take care of everything.
This is a broader problem of light fighters not being in a great state right now. They all need a balance pass, but CIG seems to be waiting on master modes before doing a full balance pass.
The problem is the class of ships, they said at CITCON, that with Master modes coming, some values would be normalized across the board. Then with player feedback, it would be tweaked towards the intended gameplay. I am wondering if that is what is happening now.
The Talon is hands down one of my favourite ships and I've not long got the Prowler. It's disappointing to hear that CIG are still failing players who have a passion for alien craft. When changes like these are implemented, regardless of the vehicle/craft, there should be transparency for such changes. Especially when changes are so big/impactful, as it's not as if it was a small change.
I don't get on and play too much but I definitely keep a keen eye on alien ships. I think it's important to make sure that we put energy into areas worth looking into and alien ships are definitely one of them. The talons are fantastic ships! I love their swarming capabilities when you get enough of them together! That's the best numbers game.
There's so much of the game left to implement, no one should be worried about ship specs right now. Master Modes will change everything and there will be a lot of balancing to come.
A pair of talons are so fantastic! We have so many talon pilots in the org! sure they are having a moment right now but they are still awesome ships to fly!
Yo, consider joining the org! We got dozens of talon pilots and we absolutely swarm any area with them wherever we show up! Yeah the talon nerfs are big for solo pilots, but not talon orgs :)
Over AIE i built my 1st 2 CCU chains, Glaive/SAN'TOK.YĀI, with some very respectable savings and on both LTI, yep nothing special. Then built 2 others Orion/Arrastra, again nice savings. I like Alien ships, sheer indulgence, and why not?.
Everything has been tweaked , partly as they have added a mass and as they get ready for master modes. Every single variant of the Aurora flies differently from the others now. Cargo haulers will really hurt once cargo mass is fully implemented.
I wonder if these changes are in preparation for master modes. What if the alien ships can use their gravity manipulating technology to ignore gravity in atmosphere allowing them to avoid much of the flight model changes master modes will bring? CIG might then feel that nerfs to alien ships fight models was necessary for balancing.
I love the defender!!! I've had one longer than my prowler to make sure I have a fast transport between stations with a lot of conveniences like theoretically high stats in defense and large quantum capacity.
@@fourfoxgaming It is a top all-rounder, for sure, and the fact it has no cargo grid to scan, looks like anyone else in the fighter screen makes it an actually pretty amazing smuggler. It's a handy bugger. I'll be really jazzed when they fix the guns, shield, missiles, and add in co-pilot gameplay. Internally repairable fighters with long ranges are going to be pretty handy. 🤘
Patience is required here. They are making a lot of changes and it is having unintended consequences to some of our favorite ships. Definitely report and complain about it, but i wouldnt take ship balance too seriously until we get master modes and they have a chance to adjust all ships to that new model
o/ Just a bit of criticism about the way you made the video. Before you proceeded to the "Main body" section, and while you were scrolling the post of the guy in your introduction, and pointing the main issues highlighted in the post, I had already figured out what's the case by looking into some sentences and the images with Acceleration rates. So, when you finally got to reading the post, there was already no value in it for me, because I had already figured out what's the deal with it, and already appreciated the way he made the post, so it sounds like it's tied to the lore. I think you can figure out the mistake here :) Best wishes.
Yeah I was sleeping on my voice when editing. I figured I would say the things I needed to say all at the start. I didn't expect anyone to stay after unless they wanted the audio portion. Thank you for taking the time to provide real feedback!!! I very much welcome any 2 cents on my production. I truly wish to see comments like this in every video I release. The original post was amazing and It had me excited that there were others outside of my alien org that were seeing these issues. Just wanted to bring light to an awesome post that was relevant to the content I like to focus on. I wish you the best!!! Fly safe o7!!!
I sometimes wonder why they even bother with playable alien ships if they treat them so poorly. The designs are so exquisite, but the programmers keep shafting them with these illogical arbitrary changes, then go and do moronic things like boosting the F7 series to absurd levels and releasing the F8C. Meanwhile, the Arrow and Gladius continue to own the skies. Star Citizen has so much potential with featuring amazing new exotic alien ideas that demonstrates their superb creative acumen, but it seems all they really want in the end is just boring mundane DCS in space.
The more I follow Star citizen the less interested I am in human craft and the human side of things. All the alien stuff is vastly more interesting but criminally underdeveloped. …and then you've got this bullshit of alien tax on top of alien nerfs, why? is CIG trying to discourage people from playing? Just imagine if World of Warcraft had a solid nerf on all its non-human races and also made all the other races a microtransaction to get, how much of a drama that would be!
Of course you've been cheated. You're paying exorbant amounts for ships that are basically the same as others in what they can do. But there's an alien tax. There's no rhyme or reason why even the blade is soooooo expensive compared to its human counterpart. The Gladius.

I'm really excited to see the outcome of the Khartu-al! Its a really great platform and has unique flight characteristics!

Cig is looking into it, they did a balance pass on ship mass on all ships and they didn't adjust thrust out put on many ships
Master modes is going to be a really big ship balance patch.
The weird part is that the Talon nerf was a thrust multiplier nerf. They didn't increase the mass, they deliberately reduced the thrust
i missed that! you are 100% correct@@sebastiaomendonca1477

I exclusively fly alien ships and this is really shitty.
CIG did actually comment on the original post. There should be a update soon I hope!

I still love both my Talon fighters. However the release of the F8 and the bugging of the F7 simply outclassed them.
A pair of talons are so fantastic! We have so many talon pilots in the org! sure they are having a moment right now but they are still awesome ships to fly!
We are years away from 1.0 and the ships will be worked and reworked many times.
I try not to stress on the current state of my favorite ships.
This is true! It's a good mentality to ground ourselves on. But it's also important to document events so we can enjoy how far we have come.
It's already almost the end of the year. "Years" no longer applies to 1.0, since 2026 would be a worst case release time. 2025 is more likely
You must not do much PVP combat
Nerf Them all you want; I will always Fly My Talon proudly through the 'Verse.

i thought that the alien ships weren't representing their lore, the mirai speed is supposed to be the same as talon i think
This was fun. Is the prowler more fun in an ERT than a corsair? How is the prowler ls agility? I'm thinking of upgrading. Thanks!

Being a shameless Defender fanboi is a sad, sad job these days

first they nerf the Khartu'al headlights so I can't flashbang people. now they nerf the zooooooommm.
big sad

All the ships are nerfed, if you wanna kill just ram and have your buddy take it period the c2 size 50 missle never misses
Reading to or listening to so heavy role play is so boring. But I hope for a good ship balance in the final product of SC.
