Lasted only for 3 years and 4 albums due to egos and in fighting, but while they were together they made awesome music. These women are in that same class, except they like one another, support one another and encourage one another so they can actually match those boys if they keep up their improvements. They are that good and no one blends riffs, vocals and sounds together as good as these ladies!!!If you look at their earlier songs up to the latest album you see how much better they have gotten and that is all from hard work, practice and supporting one another. Two of the greatest live bands the Dead and Led Zeppelin never played any one of their songs the same way twice. You will see that with this world class band as well. Viva Band-Maid.
Last time I was comparably blown away by the sound of a band was in the old days when I heard the first time AC/DC. Yes, IMHO they play in the same league like the old boys from Australia. Total fan since I found them two years ago.
AC DC were musical simpletons. I was there. It was moron disco rock with screaming. There were so many REAL bands with real singers that walked all over these dipshits from down under. AC Dc gave me the same revulsion as RAP would later
You should return to Band Maid. They are still together creating new music and it it has gotten even better. They also now have full control over their stuff and like to see people’s reactions. They have even recognized us when they saw us in the audience in their US tours.

Having been in rock bands and recording for decades I appreciate not only their musicianship and composition, but how fast they have acquired a true rock sensibility and soul, especially Kanami. Miku could barely play at all. None of them was even into heavy rock before Band-Maid. Yet, being slight (barely 100+ lbs.) young girls, became in just a few short years, one of the hardest-hitting rock bands in the world. They can tour and shred with the best of them, and for hours. Just look at the typical macho male bands who would have you believe they must strain and suffer with agony and anger on every note and phrase… while the girls don’t even break a sweat! And they do it with grace and joy, some in high heels! I just think Band-Maid is a phenomena and I’m so grateful for their hard work and existence. I hope they stay together for dozen of albums and continue to change the face - and gender - of rock n’ roll. Since you're checking out BABYMETAL now... Let me offer my feelings regarding the three biggest differences between BM and B-M: 1) The Music - the emotional attachment to the song. BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat more in sync with the heart and soul of rock n’ rollers. BABYMETAL’s music is designed to produce a spectacle to behold. Any emotion generated is tied heavily to “show values” and appearance while the music is designed to generate pure, high-energy flash. IMHO, there’s little guttural grip to what they do or how they sound. In other words, B-M evokes heart, soul and water eyes while BM offers mind, energy and glassy eyes, if that makes sense; 2) The Players - the raw talent and incredible story of five young women and how they came together purely for the love of the music and with very little experience… to play and write their own music at the level Band-Maid does is, indeed, extremely rare! Kind-a like the Beatles, right? Creating a seven or eight piece mixed ensemble who play contracted material is, again, to me, less Impressive, no matter the attractiveness and musicianship. 3) The Presentation - B-M is raw, straight forward, a bit nerdy and humble. They stand up and deliver their own music… HARD! BM is choreography and calculated. Watching BABYMETAL makes me feel like I’m supposed to like them because there’s so much going on. Band-Maid grabs my heart and gut and won’t let go. In conclusion (sort of) - BAND-MAID’s genre is becoming more of a crossover of rock and memorable hooky pop with metal and punkish influences offering a possible wider commercial appeal in the years to come. BABYMETAL’s genre, while a bit more narrow than BAND-MAID’s, also has a steadfast fan base willing to travel eternity with their Kawaii Metal group. Both are hot, awesome and successful - a marketers’ dream. So that’s one thing THEY HAVE in common. BTW - YOU TWO ARE AWESOME, ENTERTAINING, RELEVANT AND... pretty cool, too /

We can get opinionated, but I didn't say this was her best solo--it was just the breakout one which proved just how sensational she is. Lots of other great solos. I also agree with the suggestions to check out some of the more contemplative songs like Daydreaming. Both the live and the studio versions are gorgeous and soulful. The truth is, my favorite Band-Maid song is generally the one I am listening to!
IMO there are two more songs, which MV studio versions are unbeatable, because only in them is clearly heard the mastery of arrangement and perfection of instrumentalists - "Secret My Lips" and "YOLO".
I think "Domination" should be added to this list. The mv tells their story of world domination. You don't get that from the live. Plus the lights are on in the mv.
Must be nice to get the lyrics in real time. But us non-speaking Japanese Fans do get the melody and some feeling of what's being sung, especially the English parts. But like I've said before, just listening to Saiki's awesome cadence, syncopation and soul-sounding lyrical intonation she, Miku and the Japanese language brings to songs like Fate, Choose Me and others seems to fit perfectly. But I'll never get 100% of the full experience Band-Maid delivers... and that's unfortunate.

An incredibly hard rocking maid band-Miku Kobato, BAND- MAID’s founder, rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist. She says Kobato means small pigeon. Therefore she’s a small pigeon which is why Miku ends her sentences with “po.” She also refers to herself in the third person and I’m not sure of the reasoning behind that one.
I agreed with Hiawatha G. until now: A new Blu-Ray just dropped, with a 21-song set performed live in Tokyo on 2/14/20. This may be the new standard for this now classic Band-Maid tune.
Akane is a complete BEAST of a Drummer! I still find it hard to believe, she is one of the hardest hitters out there. The amount of energy she produces is unbelievable. And Kanami is also a beast of a guitarist. I'm starting to believe these Band-Maidens are advanced robots cranked up to 11. I knew Japan was the world leader in robotics, but damn they just lapped us. I'm just glad they are putting the bot tech to good use. Now their band name makes sense. It was cleaver of them to remove stickers from these bots which said 'Band Made in Japan'; and relabel them as Band-Maid. Just drop the word Japan and swap the words MADE into MAID and dress them up in maid costumes and there you have it, a top notch knock you out Robot band. Pretty clever.
From what Miku have said at some interviews, 1. BAND-MAID started with 4 members, without Saiki, when Miku did not play guitar. 2. From the start, some of the 3 instrument player (I supose it was mainly Kanami) said that the band needs one more guitarist for more musical capability. 3. Someone (I, again, supose it was their manegement company 'Platinum') sugest to add another singer with more 'adult' voice than Miku to make it better at both musical and visual sides. 4. In singers under contract with Plutinum, Saiki who had been a solo singer was selected. 5. Someone (once again maybe Plutinum) said that one of two singers should sling a guitar for visual goodness. For (Miku have literally said) 'Saiki with guitar looked too bad' and Miku started to be the second guitarist.
I love the instant smiles as soon as the first note is played. I do the same guys. These girls have me smiling ALOT lately, basically since I first heard them about six weeks ago. :) All of their albums have been ordered. Three delivered, three to come. In an interview, they said the maid costumes give them a sense of responsibility because it's like a uniform to them. So whenever they put on the uniforms, they will give their absolute best during their performances since it will put them in "work mode". And as Japanese, when they work, they REALLY work. HARD. So when they're not in uniform, they are just a bunch of regular girls, albeit extremely talented girls.

Band-Maid fans are very opinionated and vocal, as I discovered recently, and Kanami's best guitar solo is the object of ample debate in various forums dedicated to this band. My favourites are the soulful final solo on "Awkward" and the solo on "Daydreaming". She adds to the usual flash, an extra dose of heart! But I digress... An incredibly hard rocking maid band-Miku Kobato, BAND- MAID’s founder, rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist. She says Kobato means small pigeon. Therefore she’s a small pigeon which is why Miku ends her sentences with “po.” She also refers to herself in the third person and I’m not sure of the reasoning behind that one.
I agreed with Hiawatha G. until now: A new Blu-Ray just dropped, with a 21-song set performed live in Tokyo on 2/14/20. This may be the new standard for this now classic Band-Maid tune.
That kanami solo is heavily detailed and clean at the same time.
Akane is a complete BEAST of a Drummer! I still find it hard to believe, she is one of the hardest hitters out there. The amount of energy she produces is unbelievable. And Kanami is also a beast of a guitarist. I'm starting to believe these Band-Maidens are advanced robots cranked up to 11. I knew Japan was the world leader in robotics, but damn they just lapped us. I'm just glad they are putting the bot tech to good use. Now their band name makes sense. It was cleaver of them to remove stickers from these bots which said 'Band Made in Japan'; and relabel them as Band-Maid. Just drop the word Japan and swap the words MADE into MAID and dress them up in maid costumes and there you have it, a top notch knock you out Robot band. Pretty clever.
From what Miku have said at some interviews,
1. BAND-MAID started with 4 members, without Saiki, when Miku did not play guitar.
2. From the start, some of the 3 instrument player (I supose it was mainly Kanami) said that the band needs one more guitarist for more musical capability.
3. Someone (I, again, supose it was their manegement company 'Platinum') sugest to add another singer with more 'adult' voice than Miku to make it better at both musical and visual sides.
4. In singers under contract with Plutinum, Saiki who had been a solo singer was selected.
5. Someone (once again maybe Plutinum) said that one of two singers should sling a guitar for visual goodness. For (Miku have literally said) 'Saiki with guitar looked too bad' and Miku started to be the second guitarist.

Awesome song.
In an interview, they said the maid costumes give them a sense of responsibility because it's like a uniform to them. So whenever they put on the uniforms, they will give their absolute best during their performances since it will put them in "work mode". And as Japanese, when they work, they REALLY work. HARD.
So when they're not in uniform, they are just a bunch of regular girls, albeit extremely talented girls.

Band-Maid fans are very opinionated and vocal, as I discovered recently, and Kanami's best guitar solo is the object of ample debate in various forums dedicated to this band. Kanami has said in interviews that Daydreaming is a favorite of hers, and was one of the hardest to compose.

A killer track and a good reaction. Hey Rich I thought Band-Maid was the band that you have proclaimed is a game-changer for heavy music. Game changers need to be illuminated. Do you plan do any more Band-Maid reviews, or did you fear risking addiction? Or have you just given in and bought the albums? You've had loads of suggestions already, but I'll chip in with "Don't Let Me down". It's the only song completely in English, although you probably wouldn't realise at first. It's a favourite of mine for being the song that sold Band-Maid to me. I first heard "Thrill", and liked it, but Don't Let Me Down clinched the deal.

Rich I have been trying to get people to listen to this group (no vocals) but the best sounds that blend, Metal, Hard Rock and Jazz you will ever hear and from a bunch of TEENS who have been together for 5 years and the strings are still in high school. They can't play past 8:00 p.m. in japan due to Child Labor Laws but man they are amazing. Haruka the female axe shredder has such a Hendrix vibe it is scary. California has some different rules for minors in the entertainment industry.
And you're allowed to work in a place that serves alcohol if you're a musician.

If you like this then you really need to check out a band called lovebites another 5 piece all female band with a brilliant twin guitar attack the play power metal and are influnced by bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Preist ,Dragon force just to name a few. They are brilliant .
