the scariest part of this for me is that the friends just tapped out on him the moment he showed frustration.
like they had no empathy or sympathy about their friend’s discomfort with his situation. they said he was choosing to give his blood but of course he wasn’t. that would imply that he had another option.
and then he was just fully alone. that’s terrifying.

Yeah. They were all able to pay their rent, so to them it looked like OP was getting so much as a bonus. So much extra time and money!
They didn't consider that OP had neither of it at the end of the day because this practice kept him too exhausted and drained to earn any money or use any of his time.
And instead of listening to him and trying to understand, they immediately judged him as uncharitable and ungrateful.

How is it good writing when the entire story ends with a court case that makes zero sense. Even with corruption, the case could easily be posted online and spread around. Unless every person in the world was a vampire except the MC, the story doesn't make any sense. Being able to write a story and make it go dark fast is not good writing, it's just how creepypastas are written. The first half was fine, the second half revealed that the author has no knowledge of court systems or corruption. By having the MC be sued for blood, it's immediately illegal and would go nationwide on news and this ancient vampires entire system would be uplifted. This has to be one of the worst stories I've heard on a creepypasta channel....

@@Zandre1126 I like the political commentary about our court system. Obviously the specific case in the story is exaggerated and ridiculous, but that's the point. Corruption and unjust outcomes are a reality in our world, and this story is satirizing that by using an extreme example. This is really a fairly common technique in tons of different works, so insulting this story for being unrealistic is just missing the point entirely.

The only similarity was when I had all my money taken from me and was told it was never enough. The cost steadily increasing. Fines out of no where for no reason making it harder to pay. Just because it helped the case against me.

Our landlord of five years is kicking us out so they can double the rent since they're only allowed to raise it five percent a year in California. Isn't that wonderful? Real helpful legislation there. And we have no tenant protection because we're technically living in a commercial space that we remodeled into a two bedroom apartment. 😔

I was searching the comments for something like this. I enjoyed the symbolism. The Vampire is a wealthy landowner who runs the town and doesn't care about anyone... only what is owed to him. When he wants something, he appears kind and helpful. Once you're in his debt, he shows his teeth. The blood is money or credit. The writer basically called (greedy) landowners all heartless bloodsuckers. Not that they all are this way, but that is a type.

This is a great allagory as to why the whole renting system is predatory and literally designed to keep people from owning houses so landlords can make as much money as possible

@@michaelpaliden6660 having the law on the landlords side, the idea of paying rent in blood - I.e. Sucking the life out of you, the only way one of the characters may be able to save up enough money to actually buy a place is to literally trade their lifeblood to their landlord. Yeah I'd say it's a pretty decent allagory

A good idea, but the pseudolegal ending killed it, the moment the arrangement got public, the deal wouldn't fly. Also, it would be much more convenient for the vampire to suck more people in small, life not threatening doses, then destroy one. - Actually, it would make more sense to come to an agreement that the protagonist will arrange for something like that with his idiot friends :D

Having actually been to a landlord/tenant court case due dispute... This is so far unrealistic that I checked out. I know its a spooky story, but that broke my immersion.
PS: if this ever happens, fight as "agreed under duress" and "contract purposefully made in bad-faith for abuse". You'd easily win.

It's scary the parallel between this story and real life. The more they drain the more control they have over you and everyone else. Once you feed the monster they'll never stop feeding. And the system will continue working as intended.

Giving all the "debt" now would have probably been a good option. He'll pass out, due while unconscious and the blood would be useless to the vampire (a vampire needs to stop feeding before the victim dies as their blood because poisonous to the vampire at the moment they die).

Normally I would go in depth and point out problems with the writing, narrative, logic, etc. Instead, I'm simply going to say this story was absolutely infuriating to listen to simply on the grounds of how stupid it was. Everything regarding any form of legal procedures is so completely wrong it feels like a 10 year old wrote the story after browsing reddit for a couple hours. This has made a place in my top worst creepypastas.
Nothing against you lighthouse, but I gotta say, there had to be a better story to spend time narrating than this.

    • @Xbalanque84
      @Xbalanque84 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Honestly, this could all be solved amicably, negotiated behind closed doors with lawyers present. A little transparency and honesty at the negotiating table (along with longer rest periods) would have allowed them to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement. Durham's just an asshole.
