If he'd left the book alone, would he have encountered Krampus? I believe he actually did the demon a service by leading him to Gerald. Perhaps that, along with his confession, spared his life? This was an interesting story. Thank you.
Same question here too! I guess he wouldn't have gone through everything he did if he just followed the rules. But then again, as what MC said, I guess this all happened for a reason.
One does not get off the list... Krampus will be back for the writer. Gerald did a prison term as well, and wasn't 'collected' for a small period of time after it. Not till it became suitable for the story Krampus is playing out for a new person on that list. I conclude that one needs to face their sins to get a respite, not forgiveness, and Krampus will always return at some point. Which is also suitable because if you could just 'confess off the list,' then the confession itself is more an act of self-preservation then true regret.
@lostbutfreesoul he didn't just confess he's going out to be punished with the confession. The big part is he's now got no safety net. If he does something that would get him back on the list he's done. Gerald mentioned trying to pass his punishment on to others, something the mc balked at. I think that's the difference Gerald didn't repent, just got caught.
I will never understand why people feel the need to bring religion, quote scripture, or preach in some way into comments on videos that don't mention or have anything to do with it. I have no problem personally with a person's right to their faith but at the same time they need to respect the fact that not everyone believes in the same thing they do and if we wanted to be preached to we would go to church.
@@sweetsmoker Stephens other channel is called “Lighthouse.” It’s only been up for a couple of weeks but there’s enough for a good binge session or two. Enjoy.
Soooo, statute of limitations for felony burglary is 4 years in most jurisdictions. This burglary happened at least 15 years ago, so he can’t be tried for it, regardless of the confession. And the prosecutors office should be investigated for charging someone for that crime with the only evidence being their fingerprint on the front door, which isn’t evidence of anything illegal at all.
And the thing about Jason being allowed to "press charges" against the protagonist is odd. Not incriminating himself is not a legal offense he can be sued for, even if it's not the right thing to do. He did nothing legally wrong in keeping his mouth shut - if anything, Jason could press charges (of sorts?) against the sheriff's office for arresting him over nothing.
@@RobinSueWho did it? In the story the dude just walked in the general vicinity. And he had no stolen goods or anything since he did not commit the crime.
@@mason7067he would have had to be a suspect first and the police already had someone to pin it on, so no one was looking for him. If he had sold the stuff, it could have triggered the police to look for a partner to the one they arrested. Instead, he shoved it in a box in a closet to hide it. The police had no reason to connect him to it. Throwing it away might get rid of it, but it also might get found. And if the cops checked for prints and only found the owners and a strange set that didn't match their suspect, they might start looking for who matched the odd prints.
@nerored6235 How would selling it trigger the police to look into him? If the items were reported as stolen and weren't found on the suspect then he would realistically be released, with no evidence connecting him to the crime. So they'd already be looking for whoever had the stolen goods, either in place of the suspect, or as an accomplice. So regardless of there being a suspect in custody if the items were reported as stolen you wouldn't want to keep them Pawn shops don't have a list of stolen goods to check against purchases, and they don't report purchases to the police. There's no reason to expect selling items to a pawn shop to put you on the police's radar. This is a very commonly known way to sell stolen goods, one of those Hollywood tropes that's actually common because it's true. If the goods weren't reported stolen then there's no danger in selling them at all. So regardless of what the police know and what the situation is there's absolutely no reason to keep them.

Yeah but there only interesting if they break the rules.. the b.s -we don't wanna know- or -never seen again- endings are way over done.. we need to see why the rules shouldent be broken
This is not the story I was expecting. I was expecting the story to take place almost entirely in the library. This just started in a library. That book could have come to Patrick in any number of ways.
While it was a great story, there were several inconsistencies with it; like how he could be arrested and tried by a jury when he had already confessed, especially in such a small town. How was the imprisoned innocent man trotted out so easily? How did he spend so much time in jail when it's a basic slap on the wrist (especially in small towns!) when it has to do with stealing? Murder or assault, I get it. But for stealing? Seems over the top, honestly. LOVE your channel, and loved the story, actually. The narration was wonderful!
I guess Krampus sees a sin as a sin and deals it as an absolute regardless of severity. My logic is that he sees one sin breeds the next, something more sinister, harmful, selfish, terrible. Stealing to survive in of itself is ok too some degree. Although he did steal some things and he got someone put in prison. The bloke got let out I assume because they found evidence of him delivering goods and so they let him out. So it wasn't just stealing, but he also ruined a mans life and got him a criminal record. So Krampus was punishing him for both sins. Also the legal process has to be observed, its your basic right. Take that away and you get kangaroo courts again. Plus there are multiple courts for various crimes so location is irrelevant.
