    If he'd left the book alone, would he have encountered Krampus?
    I believe he actually did the demon a service by leading him to Gerald. Perhaps that, along with his confession, spared his life?

      One does not get off the list... Krampus will be back for the writer.
      Gerald did a prison term as well, and wasn't 'collected' for a small period of time after it. Not till it became suitable for the story Krampus is playing out for a new person on that list. I conclude that one needs to face their sins to get a respite, not forgiveness, and Krampus will always return at some point. Which is also suitable because if you could just 'confess off the list,' then the confession itself is more an act of self-preservation then true regret.

    • @gbgamer9474
      @gbgamer9474 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +16

      @lostbutfreesoul he didn't just confess he's going out to be punished with the confession. The big part is he's now got no safety net. If he does something that would get him back on the list he's done.
      Gerald mentioned trying to pass his punishment on to others, something the mc balked at. I think that's the difference Gerald didn't repent, just got caught.

      I have no problem personally with a person's right to their faith but at the same time they need to respect the fact that not everyone believes in the same thing they do and if we wanted to be preached to we would go to church.

    Soooo, statute of limitations for felony burglary is 4 years in most jurisdictions. This burglary happened at least 15 years ago, so he can’t be tried for it, regardless of the confession.
    And the prosecutors office should be investigated for charging someone for that crime with the only evidence being their fingerprint on the front door, which isn’t evidence of anything illegal at all.

    • @jbear3478

      And the thing about Jason being allowed to "press charges" against the protagonist is odd. Not incriminating himself is not a legal offense he can be sued for, even if it's not the right thing to do. He did nothing legally wrong in keeping his mouth shut - if anything, Jason could press charges (of sorts?) against the sheriff's office for arresting him over nothing.

      Same exact thing I wondered

    • @nerored6235
      @nerored6235 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@mason7067he would have had to be a suspect first and the police already had someone to pin it on, so no one was looking for him. If he had sold the stuff, it could have triggered the police to look for a partner to the one they arrested. Instead, he shoved it in a box in a closet to hide it. The police had no reason to connect him to it. Throwing it away might get rid of it, but it also might get found. And if the cops checked for prints and only found the owners and a strange set that didn't match their suspect, they might start looking for who matched the odd prints.

    • @mason7067
      @mason7067 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @nerored6235 How would selling it trigger the police to look into him? If the items were reported as stolen and weren't found on the suspect then he would realistically be released, with no evidence connecting him to the crime. So they'd already be looking for whoever had the stolen goods, either in place of the suspect, or as an accomplice. So regardless of there being a suspect in custody if the items were reported as stolen you wouldn't want to keep them
      Pawn shops don't have a list of stolen goods to check against purchases, and they don't report purchases to the police. There's no reason to expect selling items to a pawn shop to put you on the police's radar. This is a very commonly known way to sell stolen goods, one of those Hollywood tropes that's actually common because it's true.
      If the goods weren't reported stolen then there's no danger in selling them at all.
      So regardless of what the police know and what the situation is there's absolutely no reason to keep them.

    Rules stories aren't original, but they are kinda comforting. It's like, "What will this idiot do before they manage to survive?" How bad are they at reading and following the instructions and can they do critical thinking? Is their local economy bad enough for them to stick with the life-threatening job? Is it worse than retail, though?

    While it was a great story, there were several inconsistencies with it; like how he could be arrested and tried by a jury when he had already confessed, especially in such a small town. How was the imprisoned innocent man trotted out so easily? How did he spend so much time in jail when it's a basic slap on the wrist (especially in small towns!) when it has to do with stealing? Murder or assault, I get it. But for stealing? Seems over the top, honestly.
    LOVE your channel, and loved the story, actually. The narration was wonderful!

    • @therosen9923
      @therosen9923 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      I guess Krampus sees a sin as a sin and deals it as an absolute regardless of severity. My logic is that he sees one sin breeds the next, something more sinister, harmful, selfish, terrible. Stealing to survive in of itself is ok too some degree. Although he did steal some things and he got someone put in prison. The bloke got let out I assume because they found evidence of him delivering goods and so they let him out.
      So it wasn't just stealing, but he also ruined a mans life and got him a criminal record. So Krampus was punishing him for both sins.
      Also the legal process has to be observed, its your basic right. Take that away and you get kangaroo courts again. Plus there are multiple courts for various crimes so location is irrelevant.

      I just don't see the innocent guy being in jail for so long, seeing as what was actually stolen, first time offense, etc..
      I'm thinking that maybe it was a time when such things were taken more seriously than they are now, as far as petty crimes are concerned, although the length of time served still seems excessive.
      But it's fantasy, so I guess it doesn't matter lol..

    As terrifying as Krampus appears, he is not a force for evil anymore than the entity of Death. He is supposed to be the other side of the coin of Santa. Santa's job is to reward the good children while Krampus is the one that punished the bad children. He's an enforcer of the rules, not an evil demon that hurts indiscriminately. You have nothing to fear if you do your best to be an honest and good person.

    A comment on one of your videos is LONG overdue. I love your stories so much! I've watched so many of them. My favorites are probably the old cinema, the great lake diving one, and the disney water park one!
    I wanted to ask a couple questions, because I write as a hobby, but can only seem to write poetry as I struggle to find a genre that I can really get into. I love the prospect of writing horror, especially after hearing you tell your stories! I know some of your stories are previously written creepypastas, but are any of them originals? You are a fantastic storyteller, and I love your rules videos, especially! I also want to say that, I don't know if they're originals, but I love how some of the stories link together, like the toll booth story and the radio station story both referring to Radio Harmony. It's like an interconnected universe that you've brought to life, and I love that.
    Thank you so much for all you do. I know firsthand that writing, recording, editing, uploading, it all takes so much time, but I know that I, and likely everyone else here are very grateful for your channel! Keep up the amazing work! I'm subscribing to your channel as SOON as I submit this comment!

    Great one! Its my favorite in a while, and its awesome to see you getting in the spirit of the season with a chilling cold tale of the yuletide! Was disapointed we had no Halloween or Christmas themed stories last year.
    And great writing on this one too! The poem at the end was a nice new addition! Loved it!

    The saddest part is that Jason didn't blame the police for the wrongful arrest or the court for the wrongful conviction, but a poor hungry kid.
    Also, if Krampus does exist, he's a goddamn hypocrite. Stuffing random drunks and thieves in little cubes, while billionaires exist.
