My driver's side window went about 2 years ago when my wife was using the car so she took it straight to the Mazda dealer who charged $800 Aussie dollars. So web the passenger side went I bought the motor gear set off eBay for $16 and your video saved me the rest. Thanks for posting. Much appreciated.
Glad to see this, mrs recently same thing driver side went and got quoted by Mazda $800 and now the front passenger side has gone. As if i'm going to pay $1600 for $43 worth of parts from ebay and couple hours labor cause they too lazy to fix the actual problem.

Great explanation on how to replace the gear only. One thing instead of prying the motor apart there are three clips that hold them together and it’s allot easier to open it that way than prying it open. I’ll check to see if you left the eBay link in the description. Thanks again!!!!!

Took me forever to get that thing apart. In the process I managed to snap off both of the extruding bolt holes from the top half. I just placed them back on and bolted it oh, so here's hoping it doesn't fall apart later haha. Oh well, thanks for the video.
I watched this video and fixed my broken motor myself!!! The shop wanted $200 - $270 to replace it. The dealership wanted $220 just for the motor. I ordered the gear online for $9.99 and paid $3.99 to expedite two day shipping. Had it taken apart, fixed and all put back together in 30 minutes.

Verify hard to take a part without breaking the brittle plastic casing then almost impossible to close. The entire motor is $50-60 for brand new motor off Amazon. I recommend replace entire motor instead of the $10 gear. This is not worth $40 savings, just my opinion. Thanks for the Video... Mazda should be ashamed I just replaced both front window motors, they failed within 2 weeks of each other and I have had car just a little over 4 years.

So question, my car rear left window on my 2005 Mazda 3 goes down just fine, but when I tried to raise the window, the window would only go up about an inch and then stop. I tried multiple times to raise it, but it wont go up. Is this a motor issue or the whole assembly?
I used a chisel, just have to keep prying it. be careful around the part that the screw goes through, it's easy to break off, I glued it back on with epoxy
Just managed to pop off the goddamn cover, not without scratching my thumb. F*** you Mazda or whoever built this p.w. motor. Anyway, on mine it's the little gear directly in contact with the motor that is worn off. I think i'll just buy another motor...
Was an easy 30 minute job. But when reinstalling the motor the pulley, springs and cables all popped out and fell apart. Yes, I was holding the assembly from behind too. Need 3 hands to get it all back together but did it by my lonesome. I don't know WTF is with it now but somehow the cables are not pulling all the way close or binding. What a pain in the ass.
