@juiced2death so true....but still the video only seem's to show the fun, happy go lucky parts of bmt. They do not show us the mental suffering from having to knock it down 1000, or the way recruits are treated by the commanders sometimes.
i personally like this series .. and catching it everyday .. makes me miss my bmt ... which is like 5 years back .. (i have not ord yet) and seriously this is much more insight of bmt in a soldier's point of view
Thanks for all the videos of "Every Singaporean Son", cyberpioneertv! At least they give me a rough idea of how NS will be like for me when it is time for me to enter and serve. (:
Does anyone have the link or the song that every episode of Every Singaporean Son starts with? LIke for example for this episode, the "Singapore no car must walk". Thanks!
the singaporean Son song is really nice..this version. I downloaded it and it's on repeat mode. I miss my BMT days..the best time of my entrie NS term.
@subf LoL . . . think after 24 all would evaporate into thin air. I mean come on , 72 km to where ? For goodness sake. Across the border to Johore Bahru ?
@lamestbiokinectic The SAR 21 weighs 3.82 kgs vs the 3.6 kg F88 Austyr. The exact material composition of the F88 Austyr is classified but its made of a "high level of polymer and advanced alloy components". There are major design flaws with SAR 21, given the rifle cost only 90 AUD vs almost $20,000 AUD for the Austyr that is understandable.
@CaptainAmerica322 I have to agree that the training in Singapore isn't as brutal as the training in the US - but they DEFINITELY cut the more mentally challenging parts of BMT out from the video. It isn't as lenient as some episodes of the series seem to suggest
@CaptainAmerica322 Enlistment is compulsory in Singapore for all male citizens, so the treatment is definitely different. Compulsory military service is a rather sensitive political affair, since every family who has a teenager son will generally be somewhat critical if the training becomes even a little bit abusive.
@liionsking During a long march in the afternoon, whenever you stop in the forested areas, look at yourself or your buddies - You'll see steam rising off your bodies. No joke. =P
I miss the route march the most out of all the activities there (SOC can go to hell...). But my feet always turn into giant blisters at the end of the day... and the abrasions. Oh, the abrasions... >
@Gen3si4 I recently had an op to correct an ailment in the left knee. Lost the muscle and bone structure damaged. Next year, correction in the right knee. So much for regular RT. Hahahaha...
Not as intense as what i remembered, and even then my BMT was only 3 yrs ago... Then again since this COY underwent filming, i suppose it's a more lenient COY for this intake. next intake sure garung again after all the commanders get itchy finger from being too soft.
@CaptainAmerica322 u have to remember the US troops wanted to join the army in singapore u HAVE to so obviously they have to be a bit easier on them how would u like to be forced into something
@cyberpioneertv,I don't really have a privilege to hold SAR because I am have mild autism and my mother don't want me to go out of control in the BMT Period. Are males with Autism allowed to be enlisted into the camp?
A majority of the time the rifles are never loaded especially during a March, I think if Autism is not on your medical record and you don't mention you have autism you can enter service
Unique - you guys used the plastic bag to wrap your belongings , i could not during my service days as the Sarge told us not to and when it rains - we are always soaked drench and the weight gets heavier with heavy soaked laden dead weights on our backs. lol. Cool . . i love you guys , carry on training .
@attiac True i agreed with you on that. No such thing as a free lunch , even in the military service and those whose father or uncles had done their duties - should provide the necessary guidance to the younger generations , instead of ; " Oh they will be fine , fit and taken care of " bull crap. I had a couple of my mates becoming officers ( yeah they performed from day 1 to the endof their BMT with full enthusiam and interests ) whilst the rest of us just slack around - .
@laubeatz Why are you so bent on highlighting the differences as if singaporeans should look up to the australian system? If u're watching this, refrain from comparing and be a little sensitive to your intentions in stating your comments.
@ionParallax Yeah good point. What you say is true. Although, when America had compulsory service during the Vietnam War, the training was extremely brutal, but again, that was during a war in which thousands of men were being killed. Most of the draftees were hippies, and therefore had to be brutally disciplined into the ways of military life before they were sent to the meatgrinder. But, seeing as Singapore is not at war, you are correct. There is no need for draftees to be brutalized. Thanks
I agree with cyber. Even if this wasnt form your country. Pls show some respect. Imagine if singaporeans said these kinds of things to the shows made in your country. In singapore or any other country, army is no joke.
@ninjax105 @ninjax105 i agreed totally, i went for an ankle reconstruction after my training back from India, i am from Armor thou, 46 SAR, i recommend too as well, reporting your old and existing injuries, if not, don't blame anyone else!
watch?v=z7k34mdg2RM How US Army Infantrymen are received into training on Day 1 watch?v=lRfgYyVFgJw&feature=related How USMC recruits are received into trianing on Day 1 There are also several videos about the training of our British brothers. The Singaporean Army could learn a few things.
I didn't do route march until ICT. I seriously injured my back on my first attempt at SOC. Went NSF without informing the MO about existing or old injuries is a bad idea and withholding information is 'chargable' offense, depending how your OC looks upon each case. So boys, good luck, stay safe and listen to your Sect Comms.
Don't compare your Australian army with us. These guys are just recruits, civilians going through a transformation phase into a soldier. Be humble mate...
this is the nice act up part or the army la as you notice all of them are jc students one treated better then the poly students you guys never see the bloody tekan part yet kneeling down all those shit
@cyberpioneertv Why don't you DISABLE COMMENTS if you do not allow people to comment? A positive COMMENT or a NEGATIVE comment, is still a COMMENT. If you don't like those comments, you can specify in the description, or DISABLE comments.
This is either one of the best ideas MINDEF ever has about educating the public what we men go through. Well done!
Thats MY BMT COY's OC!!!! :D I miss the good old days!!! ORD 23rd/Oct/2010 this year!
@juiced2death

Woots,Purple Light!!!I love the song man.I used to sing this song in my NPCC days.
@Jayzer313 depends on the coy you are in.. for my company, we weren't allowed to wear one.. only black specs are allowed
Wow, I still remember my 24km route march then rushing to the parade square for the POP... GREAT VIDEO!!!
Thanks for all the videos of "Every Singaporean Son", cyberpioneertv! At least they give me a rough idea of how NS will be like for me when it is time for me to enter and serve. (:
Route march is in vest and slacks now? Used to be in long 4 lo....
Does anyone have the link or the song that every episode of Every Singaporean Son starts with? LIke for example for this episode, the "Singapore no car must walk". Thanks!

Across the border to Johore Bahru ?
@Jayzer313 of course its better.. i personally would prefer wearing that as to specs but what to do? im only a recruit lol.. must listen to orders -.-
good clip
My first 4km was tough as hell but as I went through one route march one after another, 4km felt like peanuts compared to 24km.

@laubeatz u want to know why it's only 15kg? it is because ours I new and polyester Australia's is old and made of heavy metal
Thanks for your info
@CaptainAmerica322 Enlistment is compulsory in Singapore for all male citizens, so the treatment is definitely different. Most likely C/E im myself a PES E waiting for NS. Doubtfully pes B since the army has strengthened their guidelines due to the deaths

Hi Synyster Sword, because this is Basic Military Training, all recruits go through this before they get sorted into more specialised fields. :)

I miss the route march the most out of all the activities there (SOC can go to hell...). But my feet always turn into giant blisters at the end of the day... and the abrasions. Oh, the abrasions... >
@cyberpioneertv it says the page not found when i use the link
@180223 Lol, I would think that the 24km was the easiest (due to the breaks including lunch break+ POP) while the 4, 8, 12, 16 was MUCH tougher.

Sgt. Min Han! - My old section commander and PS...this was an outstanding company with expectations that although high to meet were eventually met.
