Suqaar has no one exact recipe; it varies from region to region and home to home. From North to central states through east, vegetables are scarce hence their recipes of suqaar contain more meat than vegetables. In the southern states; the agricultural land of Somalia, suqaar recipes display abundance in vegetables. Also, suqaar has alot of broth which has water-like consistency. To me, safia was spot on.
I would love to try this. I noticed Safia's version did not actually have a lot of broth. It looked like Chinese pepper steak stir-fry. She alsoactually said "Don't make it saucy" at the beginning. Sara describes it as a stew. Sara and Khadra's versions looked more like stews.
Exactly. It was like a stir-fry. She also said she added soy sauce which is definately not traditional. The 2 girls that said it was a stew were more correct. A little sauce, that is thick and covers + fills the spaces between the meat pieces is pretty much the real suqaar. I can’t speak for the regional differences. Most suqaar I’ve had was like this.
@@ahmedopone4080 well I said there's variations from home to home. Suqaar is not suugo lol. It has a very runny consistency as in maraq.
Oooh. You better explain!
Actually, you’re making a proper point. In the Bariskukaris episode, Sarah critiqued one of the dishes as not very Somali because it had veggies. So more merit to your point about different sectors having different meat/veggie palates.
I love this series because it introduces me to new foods that look so delicious
Right!!! I’ve never heard of these dishes before ! They look and sound amazing 😍😍😍
I know right! It is interesting to get to know other countries' cuisine. Somali food is definitely delicious!
@@ToyaMel i cant escape you br0ad, everywhere i go i see your anti black male self, bitter and mad
What's interesting to me is that they show these "new" foods, and they are usually nearly the same all around the world, but with different names and a variation of the seasonings. I made this dish on Saturday, but just called it Lamb Stew (served over Jasmin rice). 🎶 *We're All in this Together!* 🎵
I LOVE SARA, she's always so positive
she just can't cook 😂
@@melissamcclain34 Melissa You’re white stfu. It varies from region to region we’re not a monolith just cause two ppl hated it don’t mean we want a white persons opinion. 🤪
Nah
@@amie_-eu8fn “nah”, what?
I agree! I think I like her the most for her pure ness
I feel bad for Sara 😢 She tries, like she really does, and I get that her food might not be the best but at least give her constructive criticism. No need to be mean or harsh. There's always a nice way to say things, Khadra, so that the person will understand how they can improve. Also, at least taste the food! Not the sauce/gravy but the food!
Yeah Khadra is so harsh to point of being unnecessary and extra. I would hate to be her friend or family. She has this diabolical quality about her.
I think it’s necessary. Somali dishes are being forgotten in this gen. We all know what good suqaar is, so her honesty is very necessary. Our grandmothers would be even more harsh tbh😂
she's so annoying lmao. reminds me of those bullies in secondary school
I mean safia had the same criticism as her
@@terynb4407 it's not about what you say but how you say it. Same message; different delivery. At least Safia tried it.
Dish 2 was more aesthetically pleasing to me. Would love a recipe to try it out.
Dish 2 looked more like what suqaar should look like, what you'd get in a restaurant or if one was being really pro. Dish 3 looked very home style. Both looked delicious.
Dish 2 was legit the other two looked like imposters
Yes please 🙏
Safia always gives the best looking ones
I'm always so happy when I see Safia in a video she's so sweet and humble and beautiful to boot lol Was hoping she would win as her dish looked the best as they always do!
Can we just admit how freakin gorgeous these women are!!!!!????
Agreed 👍
Khadra is 🔥🔥🔥
No
@@bjm4148 No as in you don’t wanna admit that they’re gorgeous? Well no need to admit it if you’re shy.
Factsss
Sara is young and learning ❤️
Don't be down
We are proud of you all.
I luv Sara
They kept saying that it wasn't suqaar to every dish but their own. I probably would have eaten all and enjoyed it, even though every Somali household has a different understanding of how to prepare Suqaar, i guess!
We both know some suqaar don’t go down as easy. Wedding and Ramadan Suqaar is always elite
Safia and Khadra's suqaar look like a proper suqaar because they've added vegetables and onions. Although Sarah tried her best, it would have been better if she added other vegetables to her suqaar (even though she stated she does not like to mix it with her suqaar). Khadra seems nice but she's way too judgemental about Sarah's food. I wish they could try malawah or canjeero alongside suqaar but other than that I really enjoyed watching this video, well done ladies!
@@I5ma3ilsorry what do you mean?
There is no authentic who is ever region does it different
@@hoddy1368 Yeah 100%, everyone cooks their food differently as each region in Somalia has got different recipes. However, I am just saying that Safia and Khadra's ones look like a proper Somali suqaar. Sarah's one does not look bad but she did not add some other vegetables and she should have cut the meat smaller, I do not know where in Somalia Sarah is from but I must admit she tried to cook her suqaar.
I think Sarah one was more about her own custom taste like removing green peppers etc
@@theancientsancients1769 Yeah her suqaar looks different
Safia's gestures are awesome. I love Watching her hands while she talks. So cool.
She will one day make an awesome grandmother one day 😉
@@theancientsancients1769
Or a unversity lecturer, and/or Islamic speaker.
Khadra's personality is so off-putting. You can offer critiques without being mean.
It goes to show what kind of a person she is. Thrives on putting others down.
These type of people unfortunately exist in every race, ethnicity, age, gender, height, weight, & all 4 corners of the earth.😢
Y’all are so freaking sensitive. She is a chef so of course she will be more critical on food. You watched a 5 min video and think you know her personality? Not one time did she say anything bad about the other ladies. She kept her critique on the food and food only. 🤦🏾♂️ grown up!
Sara and safia are nice though 😊
Where was she being mean??
Somali Food on the MAP✅
thank you Buzzfeed🙏🏽
Congratulations Khadra🙌
No bad feelings, much needed Somali entertainment😂
Sara you are Amazing 🏅
sadly it’s the last episode 🥲
Much love ❤️
I can't believe it's the final episode of Somali mums trying each other's food, you guys done really well!
Lovely experience MashAllah, and amazing food tasting opportunity ❤️
Ow nooo 🥺 Somali moms is by far my favorite series on this channel Hafidaki Allah Safia ❤
@@bushrasaid195 hey my name is bushra too and my surname is also said but a different spelling✌🏼
@@BushraAhmed-sv6ey heyyyy Said is my grampas name not my actual last name just loved him and so i use his name as a way of love
Oh come on. Khadra was not as mean as other contestants have been. She just keeps it real lol Safia pretty much said the same thing about Sara’s dish but that’s okay huh let a woman be confident lol
As much as I agree with you….it’s not ok to talk badly about someone else’s food..it’s un Somali …safia is honest and fair.khadra is just extra to be honest.
I have no problem with Khadra's confidence. I find her critique useful. If I were to make these dishes, I would take all of her recommendations into consideration. Actually, both Safia and Khadra had the exact same things to say about Sara's dish. Khadra just did it in a more colourful, over-the-top way.
You can be honest without being a b*tch. It's common sense.
I feel there's a difference between confidence and arrogance that seems to be lost in our generation.
If I had to choose, I’d hang out with Khadra cause she seems the most fun, and I think she’s being extra for the show. But obviously she’s not acting humble, which is a rarer and more precious trait than over-the-top confidence.
It’s easy to act arrogant than to humble yourself before your peers.
So, basically, the key to being an incredibly gorgeous woman is to be Somali, because these women are amazingly beautiful! And I like they they were pretty fair and not trying to be mean like some others are in this series.
Thanks DR
East Africans are usually nicer and soft spoken!!
ok I actually watch to hear about new dishes from different places I figure it's good homemade and you get variations plus umm what not to do love this
Thank you for bringing them back! I know this is about the food but I need Sara's skin and hair routine 😍
Somalia 🇸🇴 💙🤍💙
Yes another one 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 big up all the #SomaliWomen involved
I’ve been on a binge of these type of videos, and I have to say that Safia might be my favorite person in any of these videos. So genuine and cool.
I love khadra, she gives credit whenever due, though she may seem dramatic sometimes, but I do dig her attitude towards food. If it's good, it's good, if it's bad, it's bad, she wouldn't downplay or sugar coat words
Fax, people are so soft acting like she being harsh 🤣
she's a Somali woman. we will always be a bit dramatic. we are just passionate
This series is moving like kuwtk

The same people crying about Khadra being mean are the same people who enjoying watching Gordon Ramsey cussing people out and probably say meaner things behind their phone screens behind closed doors 😂 just stop
Khadra keeps giving low scores on purpose! Safia is the real winner in my years! Absolutely diamond manshallah!

There’s an error at 0:44 it says “sabaayad” instead of “suqaar”
My bad 😅
Clever I didn’t realise
Personally I think khadra wins coz the other two ladies are humble, modest and generous. And the do overrate her.
Safia isn't afraid to give low scores either, Khadra's food is probably just good for the most part
@@sdfdksfjksd she is rude and boastful character and envious to. You can be honest while being kind and generous.
Wish you’d have them try and rate their own blind folded,
I always put potatoes in my suqaar! Sara will get better with some practice
Why is every1 hating on khadra? She was just doing what she's supposed to..which is to judge the dish 😒 She judged it well imo
Ppl be buggin srsly..
I wish the world was more open to each other's cultures and foods. Where foods like this were everywhere across the board so we all can try... I'm so sick of the hatred this world has...it's wrong.
You gotta get out of whatever eurocentric country ur in
Khadra is vicious 😂😆😂🤣
OMG if there is time she will be a mother in law for her children, it will be a nightmare.😂😆😂🤣 She's so traditional.
😅
Khadra is a wild child! She's funny! 😅
When she said "please no fat" I felt that cause I dont like the chewy-ness
frrr
I like these segments keep on with the somalis women trying different foods😍
This looks so yummy ngl. Looks like my dad’s beef curry because he doesn’t add any water/gravy either.
I need all of their skin regimens.
This dish looks so good!!! I wonder if we have somewhere here in NY that I can try it 🥰
You know NY always has something 🤷🏾♀️ lol. There’s a place in Harlem on W 116th street (between Malcolm X and Frederick Douglass) called Safari. It’s not too expensive and worth every penny. It’s a cute, BYOB (bring your own booze), cozy restaurant that has so much! Their meat dishes are as good as the vegetarian ones. When you go, try the Fiimto, a berry and hibiscus drink that is really good. Try their veggie sambusas, Mandazi, Hilib Ari… but let me stop talking about their food because it’s making me hungry lol.
Safari in Harlem!
Why can’t these ladies criticize these foods a little kindly especially the lady on the white jacket. I mean, not everyone would cook the same or have same taste buds. Just thought to share 🙄
Have you seen the other video's she's just 🙄
I love straight shooters I hate fakly nice people.
Poor Sara 😩😩😭 they always coming for her I’d eat it sis
One day Sara better get a win
Love Safiya's attitude
Safia is so soft spoken and funny 😄💯☺️
lol, thanks
I don’t think Khadra said anything wrong. She said the same exact things that Safia. The only difference is that she went to explanations as to why she did not like something. Her comments were not nasty, mean-spirited, disrespectful or rude. It’s not like she told Sara, “Yuck. This food is absolute trash, and you should not be in the kitchen”. Instead, she stated that she did not like it, and that it was unacceptable by her standards. She went on to tell her ways to make the dish better for improvement. Khadra was direct, straight to the point and honest in her opinions.
Sara is a champ. At least she has the courage and the confidence to get on camera with her foods and display it for the general public to gain their positive or negative perspectives. Most of TH-cam’s general public say much meaner, nasty, mean-spirited things than any of these ladies, yet they don’t even have a profile picture of themselves for us to judge them as a whole, lol. Me included. So, Sara is a champ in all aspects in my opinion.
EID MUBARAK EVERYONE
Please do Portuguese food! Would love to see Portuguese mums reacting to each other’s food!
How is Sara the best critic but the worst cook. I love her
lmao so true lol
I so like the concept of Somali food. Seems yummy
I feel for Sara at this point ur doing well !!! U can cook more than most chicks I see Mashallah keep up the good work!! Khadra and safias suqaar I love it both looked delicious

I'm loving the Somali episodes most so far ❤️ keep these Somali dishes coming please!
Italian dishes for sure! My fav
Yeah I like the Somali episodes most too , Italian food is everywhere known well unlike this exotic food
Do they just pick one bad one just to make things interesting?
Factsss they got two well experienced cooks and one that isn’t. They defo do this for the drama.
@@hanab4292 No, Sarah actually runs a food page but taste can be subjective

Somali women are so beautiful
They're all so beautiful
What I need this never heard of it in my life looks so nice
Somali 🇸🇴 food is very good a hidden treasure amongst food , the spices are balanced well , for a European example they won't be too spicy 🔥 yet for an Asian it won't be bland food for them , it's a great east west fussion balance
Khadra is mean.... Sara and safia i love them 💕. .. you can critique a person without being nasty. Safia teach Sara 🙌.... she has potential!!
They ate a lot this day lol. Same outfits.
Maybe pair the chefs with other chefs and amateurs with amateurs
They’re all amateurs
She didn’t mean she’s a professional chef, she meant her cooking’s so good you could call her a “chef”, but she doesn’t tend to boast about it to people
Thank you for this. Going out to eat Somali food with some friends next week!
it’s gonna be amazing have fun!!
Come on. The hate in the comments section for these women are too much.
They have the experience so they share it with the viewers by informing them about the authentic dish. There hasn’t been 1 video in which they have insulted anyone. STOP with the negativity. Plus this is my favorite series of this channel. #blacklivesmatter
Adding salt at the beginning is key if you add it to late imo you would more likely to taste it
This may be a bit late but In the intro card It wasn’t changed to Suqaar. It still says Sabaayad
I feel so bad for Sara :-( Although Kadra won fair and square, her attitude at Sara's dish was so unnecessarily mean. Manifesting Sara takes some cooking classes and gets her redemption
Should be renamed "Three women tell each other they didn't make suqaar"
They should include clips of them making the dishes!
Sara should stop competing and do more practices. She's nice person tho.
She just makes dishes in her own way
No she’s trying and I support her she should do it if she likes
Khadra probably thinks she's some food critic or something..
Right
It's entertainment folks chill , she is like Simon Cowel 😂
Don't be so sweet that people eat you up. Nor so bitter that they spit you out.

“POTAOES”
The fancier potato.
@0.44 the card says sabaayad. Is that another name for suqaar?
🤣🤣🤣 “can you see my chewing”
They are all beautiful but Khadra looks like the real life version of KOKO from Rugrats in Paris 😍 gorgeous
Suqaar needs to be FRIED like a stir fry no broth n no potatoes the meat needs to be cut in long thin strips
Aahhhhh I dislike Khadra so much. She’s like that know it all 10 year old who thinks she knows more than an adult. I really don’t want to be mean, but darling doesn’t matter if your food is out of this world, I wouldn’t appreciate it one bit with that attitude.
I looooove love love love Safia and Sara!! They have a warm fuzzy feeling and their attitude is so comforting. I’m sorry I don’t like seeing khadra in these videos she’s not a sport at all.
Double like for this post!
She's judging the food, if anyone realizes, when the food is good, she doesn't shy away from praising the food either. She offers credit whenever due. Plus, it's a cooking competition, main point is the taste of the food.
I agree ☝️
Omg why do i just love somalis ! Maybe because my bestie my sister my world! I guess because of her i love her people bit ladies you were so humble! Always love somalia 🇸🇴! And god love suquare! vegetables arent a must. its like saying burger with no vegetables aint a burger. as long as the basics are there its still suqaar. you choose whatever you want to add, like paprika or potatoes etc but chunky is a no, its a dish for the hands not for fork and knife
4:02 subs say "It's not so hard" when the lady said "It's not Suqaar"
