- An Indian heart is beating in a young woman from Pakistan thanks to a life-saving heart transplant in Chennai. What's even more touching is that surgeons operated on her for free and patients and a trust run by doctors pitched in for the surgery as the family from Karachi couldn't afford the cost of surgery. NDTV's Sam Daniel spoke to the patient, her mother, and surgeons at Chennai's MGM Healthcare.

I could speak hindi and we both conversed I was a teenager then, he told me he had come for his wife and he was referred to the Railway Hospital in Chennai by the doctors in Kolkatta He said that the Railway hospital was best for heart surgery. I am not sure they would take referrals but TamilNadu is a land where we see a human being as human being please call sir and find out I am sure they will help. My father's friend was telling me the story of his visit to india for his daughter heart surgery, The doctor asked him to arrange blood for the surgery, He said it was a big challenge that time finding blood in a country where exposing himself could be risky, however I went to the Delhi Grand Masjid & after praying I told the Imam about the issue, Imam made an announcement about blood donation for a Pakistani brother, Soon As I reached the hospital there was a huge line on the hospital entrance, When asked he was told that these people have came to donate blood to a Pakistani Person Daughter. I literally got goosebumps & tears in my eyes. 🇵🇰❤️🇮🇳

I'm a Pakistani and I hope that before i die i can take my car and cross into India, and visit Chennai, my ancestoral city, from where both my maternal and paternal grandparents belonged.
Not to forget having been born in the middle east, i was taught by Indian teachers in my childhood, who treated us like their children.
I specifically remember leaning on their shoulders and sleeping as a child, on my way back home in the van.
And the person who taught me swimming was also from the south. Cocky guy loved KFC and threw me in a 12 ft pool without warning to teach me swimming ❤

I lived in India between 2000-2006 as my father got foreign posting to Pakistan Embassy in New Delhi. My father had a Heart attack in 2002 and was operated in a hospital in Delhi. He stayed 30 days in the hospital after surgery. The doctors were really good and did an excellent job throughout. I still remember those days, as I was very young and was so scared to lose my father.
Unfortunately, my father had another Heart attack in 2012 which he didn't survived..
Oh so sorry for your loss.
