      Essential oils contain toxic VOCs. If you value your health, avoid inhaling toxic fumes from essential oils!!!!

    Baking soda works as a cleaner when you make it into a paste with water and dishsoap to help brighten things, but the dish soap is what cuts the grease. You can scrub *some* stains out, but baking soda and water on it's own won't really do much.

    • @FrankGutowski-ls8jt
      @FrankGutowski-ls8jt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Correct. Baking soda is fine as a mild abrasive but isn’t a surfactant, so a dish detergent complements it well as both a binder and surfactant. The mixture is called a polstice.

      Just try it on your stove top or oven. It does work.

      Soap cuts the grease
      Baking soda deodorizers and is basic which helps dissolve organic materials
      Rubbing alcohol cuts grease and kills germs.
      I'm a chemist BTW so I know what I'm talking about

      @@popoffs5273 Well, the dissolving of organic materials is what must be happening on the stove, but whatever happens, it works.

    Whats up with the whole spraying an entire puddle of pudding/ice cream? That’s not fooling anyone into seeing how effective it is. Also, why not clean the pudding off first then disinfect later?

    Oh my. Is she ever clueless!
    Baking soda is a deodorizer? Add to ammonia and sniff. How’d it work? It ‘cuts through grease pretty easily’? It’s not a surfactant. Dissolve in water, add oil or grease of your choice and shake. None will dissolve.
    Vinegar cuts through grease? Well, my experimental bottle of oil and vinegar salad dressing hasn’t changed in over 10 years. Vinegar refuses to dissolve any of the oil.
    AVOID THIS NONSENSE!

    • @xymonau2468
      @xymonau2468 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Baking soda is a great deodoriser for food and mould smells. Put it in a smelly fridge and it stops the smell within a day or so. So it actually IS. Ammonia is a chemical smell, not an unclean smell. Use semi-moist bicarb on a cloth and it turns oily substances into soap. It doesn't have to dissolve in water with oil. Neither of your "tests" mean anything in the face if reality. Try it on the grease on your stove or in the oven.

      @@FrankGutowski-ls8jt Thank you for the science and hygiene lesson. I know what works well in my own house. You can theorise all you want, but the fact is, these tings work and do the job as described. I don't particularly care if you never use them.

      @xymonau2468 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FrankGutowski-ls8jt That's just not so. And belief doesn't come into it. I see the results. There is plenty of crap science out there. Empirical results are often the basis on which new science arises. Bet you think there's no plant source of B12, too. Scientists have been telling us that for years.

      The science of washing clothes is well settled. There’s nothing ambiguous about the chemistry of these simple ingredients. I don’t respond to off-topic ‘what-about-isms’, also known as red herrings.
