Mine didn't have the access panel on the left, so there was no good way to oull the back panel downwards. I put one of the screws that held the funnel that directs cold air to the ice maker back in, hooked an old clothes hanger over it, and used that to pull down. Worked a charm!

I'll confirm it is the defrost HEATER (that long u shaped coil) that needs to be replaced - not the defrost sensor and certainly not the control board. After spending $500 on a bad diagnosis, and research into this on YT, I got a third tech to order me the defrost heater. It's been 5 days and the issue is solved, finally. It's a $40-$50 part. This model is a bit more complex than my Kenmore-branded LG but at the end of the day it's the defrost heater underneath the evaporator - not just the "thermister" or fuse or "sensor".

My original part looks quite different. There is a black wire coming out of the top connector that goes into the coils. The model number is LFX28968ST. The part number is LG 6615JB2005N, which is supposed to be the replacement part. Is it the wrong part?

Plenty of replacement videos, just none on testing the same one. lots on testing the bimetalic type, too bad they do not apply.

My LG has a thermistor in the refrigerator section and freezer. Currently the temperature in freezer is fine, but in the fridge section it is getting too warm, staying around 48 degrees. There was a block of ice on the evaporator coils (fridge section). I verified the heat element works, but since there is an evaporator in the fridge and a separate one in the freezer section, which defrost sensor would I change, the one in the fridge or freezer?

I have an lfc25776st LG French door refrigerator. Periodically a fan runs and makes a rattling sound. It stops when any door is open. My research says it may be due to frost buildup in the freezer caused by a faulty defrost sensor. Is this the same part the video is about?

I have an LG Fridge LFX2596AL. What is the difference from p/n 6615JB2005H and p/n6615JB2005N? Under search for my model you're calling it a "Defrost Sensor" as opposed to a "Thermistor". They look exactly the same yet they are different by a couple of bucks. BTW...loved the video! I know it will help me replace my Thermistor/Sensor....lol. Cheers!

Hello. I'm really hoping that you can help. We have a 3yr old LG model LFC2575ST. For several months it has been randomly freezing food in different areas of the fridge & vegetable drawers. We have unplugged it, ran diagnostics (it came up w/nothing), moved food around in freezer & fridge to be sure the vents weren't blocked & raised the fridge temp to 44 degrees. Nothing helps. I'm hesitant to spend $400 for a repair & am considering just buying a new fridge (different brand of course). Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

So, I'm looking at doing this replacement/repair job on my fridge. Showing the prototypical dH f error and saw some frost buildup (but not a lot). I'm getting an open short across the heater element so I'm assuming that it's fuses are blown, but I'm also looking at the controller board. There's a flyback diode in parallel with the relay coil for the heater that's shorted. Is this the common board failure with this issue? It makes sense to me that a failure of the heater might also blow this diode since it seems likely that there was some sort of overcurrent in the heater circuit. I'd rather get away with replacing a $1.04 diode instead of a $200 control board that's mostly fine. Haven't taken it apart to test the thermistor or the heater yet.

I replaced this defrost thermister on lfxc24726s and it did not fix The problem of ice building up on the coils.
In addition to the ice building on the coils, The freezer is not the correct temperature, it's 36°f instead of 0°f, And the ice is not producing.
What should I check next? Defrost board? Defrost heater?
    Something else?
    No error code.
    Thank you!

I have an LG GR409GQ fridge / freezer. The bottom of the freezer is collecting water, which freezes up. I think the defrost sensor needs to be replaced. Does this sound like a reasonable diagnosis? If so, where can I find an instruction of how to fit the part? Also, I note that the outside of the fridge on the left side is very hot. What could be causing this?
