I have played in many bands and many talented musicians but each band has its own sound due to one individual that creates it with the other musicians ( lack of better word to describe but leader of the sound in that band ) You can see it like when Dave played with Queens of the stone age, not foo fighters, not Nirvana it's Josh's band with other very talented individuals. Same could be said for Pantera, Linkin Park, Queen, Sepultura (to name a few) but folk need to remember, for every professional musician, its their job. Regardless of Dave [Grohl], for example having the Foo's, Music is in their blood. It's their life. Nirvana acheived what 99% of bands would love just 50% of. Nirvana formed in 1987 and ended in 1994. Dave joined in 1990, 35 years ago. That moment in time shifted the music scene. 3 studio albums made one of the biggest moments in history. Just like the Sex Pistols acheived with one album in 1977. These thing happen infrequently but deep down Dave and Krist could create, or at least move on a Nirvana reunion. They still have all their original fans, and many more from newer gens. Maybe, just maybe they could pull it off but a new full-time singer would be hard to choose. Exactly why Linkin Park got a female singer coz they knew getting a male singer would always be compared to Chester. Same would happen for Kurt's replacement. I was a teen when Nirvana 'broke'. It was a moment in time that you just had to be there to fully appreciate. Kurt cannot be replaced but Dave and Krist are not getting any younger. Maybe they could bow out and retire with a year long Nirvana tour(?). Sure, it wouldn't be the same but you can see how that would seal their legacy. Foo Fighters have gone away for a while due to Dave's love-child. Even still, he's a hugely popular guy and most still see him as the stix man for Nirvana. He never wanted to replace Nirvana and didnt - at the time - want to get a new singer to carry on Nirvana but now, 32 years later since they ended, maybe its a good time to do something before its too late. Ya never know. Being part of that history would be great for every fan. If it never happens, then thats fine. Keep it as it already is but i can guarantee Dave and Krist have secretly spoken about a reunion. Its something that can't really be ignored in their conversation. I recall Dave saying in an interview that when they (Dave & Krist) meet up they often jam Nirvana songs. That tells me everything i need to know about how they feel about that moment they created. I am working on a project that had fans and muscians from all over the world playing guitar, drums, vocals, cello. - It's a tribute to Nirvana and the songs are done straightfowardly, but I made it clear that we will not be trying to sound like Nirvana or recreate their tone although it accidentally kind of happened anyway because of the guitars and amps we were using, but anyway, if you wanna check it out, here is the link. If You Must and Pen Cap chew are not easy songs to sing but we had an excellent vocalist that figured out a badass way to get through the songs. I understand why Frances distances herself from Kurt and Nirvana, but it would be nice if her of all people filled in for him for a tour. Personally I just think they should remain doing random one off shows ever few years, but a tour under the Nirvana name will just feel strange. I remember many years back there was this Elvis tour. It was his original band playing on stage live and they used screens to show Elvis live during concerts. they just isolated his vocals to play while his band played the music. It was interesting and after a bit you forgot he wasn't really there as they would cut from footage of him to the actual band on stage, just like a modern large arena concert is done. I don't see them being the type of band that would do something like that, but it might feel more like Nirvana than a replacement singer.

Kurt had the charisma of icons like Elvis, Hendrix or Morrison. I’m sure the band can be entertaining with the right singer but they would inevitably fall short. We had them for a few years and it was magic. I’m fortunate to have seen one of their last shows. I’d love to see them start a new band with new songs. I’d be all over it. @ I'm genuinely happy for the band for having the will to play and bring joy out of the immense pain caused by the loss. The heart energy was high with everyone on and off stage. I still can't help to feel as if I woke up seeing my mom's new multiple love interests taking turns wearing the slippers and drinking out of the coffee cup of my defunct dad who passed 30 years ago. In that scenario I probably still shouldn't be living at home! You go have fun mom!

Listen, we need to stop Recreating History. You can't replace the person who literally was the centre of creativity in this band. Bringing the songs back is fine, it needs to be a Woman IMO. I have tons of respect for Kim and Joan helping out, but that performance was .... Slapped Together. Now if it was Frances (like Sublime), this would make some sense, with this all said, I would be shocked if they decided to do this.
It would be in bad taste to do an entire tour with a different singer. I don’t think it’s wise….. a few songs with a bunch of different singers is nice to see but I think everyone would be pissed if they started touring with a different singer
Brody Dalle from The Distillers would be a great fit, they only used her in CalJam to play bass what a waste.. she has the attitude/guitar skills and the voice to pull it off.
NO "reunion". Sorry, it WAS Kurt's vision & expression that drove the band. He was the VOICE & GUITAR. If it has to happen, an ensemble of vocalists & guitarists reinterpreting MIGHT in homage might work. The reassembled presentations so far have NOT been impressive. The material is subtantial enough to have different readings. Look at the un-plugged legacy. No point in trying recapture the zeitgeist. I genuinely LOVE female singers, so far ALL of them have not been adequately integrated into the sound. They've been buried in the mix. Violet was the best so far. They don't all have to be female though. It comes off as a schtick & the novelty wears thin.
Not in the same way at all. Kurt made everything that was Nirvana. Wrote all the music, the imagery, everything. I don't think Chester was even in LP in their early days. I'm not sure because I think LP and Chester sucked and I always laugh when people have to bring up Chester when talking about Nirvana like they were even anywhere near close to what Kurt or Nirvana were.
As much as I love seeing Krist, Dave and Pat onstage together this just did not work for me. It seemed so un-rehearsed and the female vocalists all struggled and looked so uncomfortable with these songs.
The only one who sounded even remotely decent was Daves daughter. The rest I'm sorry were crap. Even Joan Jett. If they are gonna do it which they probably shouldn't. At least get a male who can sing the songs. The last reunion was crap too. Massive Nirvana fan. But if we are all being honest then I'm not wrong 🤷

The fact that they added women for the show, it's alright, 'cause it's supposed to be "something different", for a special occasion. But if you try at least to "restart"/"relaunch" the band, as AIC and STP did, i don't see the point of adding a woman. The idea is to "rebuilt" something that was lost long ago (Kurt), and that's solved having a male singer. I think it would be interesting to see a woman in backing vocals, or as a second singer, as the Smashing Pumpkins tried looong ago with D'Arcy. But still, Kurt's role should be reserved for a male singer.

Kurt had the charisma of icons like Elvis, Hendrix or Morrison. I’m sure the band can be entertaining with the right singer but they would inevitably fall short. We had them for a few years and it was magic. I’m fortunate to have seen one of their last shows. I’d love to see them start a new band with new songs. I’d be all over it. Just my take bruv! maybe you’re right
@ I'm genuinely happy for the band for having the will to play and bring joy out of the immense pain caused by the loss. The heart energy was high with everyone on and off stage. I still can't help to feel as if I woke up seeing my mom's new multiple love interests taking turns wearing the slippers and drinking out of the coffee cup of my defunct dad who passed 30 years ago. In that scenario I probably still shouldn't be living at home! You go have fun mom!

Listen, we need to stop Recreating History. You can't replace the person who literally was the centre of creativity in this band. Bringing the songs back is fine, it needs to be a Woman IMO. I have tons of respect for Kim and Joan helping out, but that performance was .... Slapped Together. Now if it was Frances (like Sublime), this would make some sense, with this all said, I would be shocked if they decided to do this.

Brody Dalle from The Distillers would be a great fit, they only used her in CalJam to play bass what a waste.. she has the attitude/guitar skills and the voice to pull it off.
NO "reunion". Sorry, it WAS Kurt's vision & expression that drove the band. He was the VOICE & GUITAR. If it has to happen, an ensemble of vocalists & guitarists reinterpreting MIGHT in homage might work. The reassembled presentations so far have NOT been impressive. The material is subtantial enough to have different readings. Look at the un-plugged legacy. No point in trying recapture the zeitgeist.
I genuinely LOVE female singers, so far ALL of them have not been adequately integrated into the sound. They've been buried in the mix. Violet was the best so far. They don't all have to be female though. It comes off as a schtick & the novelty wears thin.

Not in the same way at all. Kurt made everything that was Nirvana. Wrote all the music, the imagery, everything. I don't think Chester was even in LP in their early days. I'm not sure because I think LP and Chester sucked and I always laugh when people have to bring up Chester when talking about Nirvana like they were even anywhere near close to what Kurt or Nirvana were.

As much as I love seeing Krist, Dave and Pat onstage together this just did not work for me. It seemed so un-rehearsed and the female vocalists all struggled and looked so uncomfortable with these songs.

I'm with you buddy. It was an insult to hear these classics butchered by has been's and no body's. Nirvana was everything to me as a teenager. It made me who I am today. Actually got to meet them at SNL. Best day of my life !

The fact that they added women for the show, it's alright, 'cause it's supposed to be "something different", for a special occasion.
But if you try at least to "restart"/"relaunch" the band, as AIC and STP did, i don't see the point of adding a woman. The idea is to "rebuilt" something that was lost long ago (Kurt), and that's solved having a male singer.
I think it would be interesting to see a woman in backing vocals, or as a second singer, as the Smashing Pumpkins tried looong ago with D'Arcy. But still, Kurt's role should be reserved for a male singer.
They should get someone similar to Kurt in order for the reunion to work.
