I was 21 in 1981 playing in a band when the song came out' we bought the single 45 and practiced all evening up until 1am to get it down' played it at the club Friday night and ended up having to play it at least a half dozen times that night. Most request song for months back then. Wish I could go back to the 80's' best years for music.
@@johnkeith2450 Oh if I could only go back then and know what I know today.... life would have turned out much better. I guess we can all say that relating to certain situations.... those were the best of times for sure. Hope you and everyone else got to live life from that time on filled with good memories as back then.
I saw kihn band with 20/20 at the pikes peak center colorado springs co . Early 80s they were like new wave. Good show i still have the tour shirt in perfect shape.
I sat next to Greg in college in Baltimore. Very cool dude. He played some coffee houses around Baltimore City where I saw him. It was just Greg, an acoustic guitar and a harmonica. He said he was heading off to California to start a band and guess what? He did!
He said you would look over at his papers and was always asking him for the answers , He said you would literally aggravate the crap outta him , So he decided to move to get away from you and started a band, So the moral of the story is If it hadn't been for you he would not have been successful in the music industry. So thank you we have the opportunity to listen to his music.
This song was borrowed in a TV commercial in the Philippines way back when I was in college during the 80’s. It’s about an orange product and that part in this song that says uh uh uh uh uh uh the commercial goes….uh uh orange uh uh uh uh uh. I remember this so vividly coz the talent that sung that song in the commercial was our band’s lead vocalist. A very good friend of mine who passed away during the COVID pandemic. Miss you Bro 😎
Him wearing that army shirt reminds me of basic training in 1981 when this came out,We got a pass to go off base and I heard this song for the first time, awesome.
My sister and I used to see him way back in the 70s at the various colleges. We both worked at radio stations and got free tickets to pretty much everything God those were great days Greg Ken was way better than people knew he put on a hell of a show I miss you Greg too bad we never got together love Marcia in Modesto
RIP Greg. I saw Greg Kihn first perform this song at halftime at San Francisco 49er games in 1981. Then I saw him open for Boz Skaggs at the Greek Theatre that same year. I was in the second row. Amazing! Then, in 1986, I was living in Wichita, Kansas. I was driving down a street by the university and saw “Greg Kihn Band” on a nightclub marquee. I couldn’t believe it! My wife and I went…and when we got there…there were only about 10 people standing in line to get in. We went in and the band started playing…and there were almost no people there! We danced in front of the stage (the only ones dancing) to this song. It was weird! And even uncomfortable…to be the only ones dancing in front of Greg Kihn. Why? I never figured that out. I read a. I read a few years ago that it may have been that the band was performing at the university stadium (opening for someone) and they may have used this place for a rehearsal the day before. I even tried writing and asking Greg…but never got a reply. I didn’t know he was ill the last couple years. Great times Greg Kihn! You are synonymous with the 1980s Bay Area music scene! You will not be forgotten while we are still able to rock!

I love it! Makes me unconsciously speed when driving, lol. They sure don't write like that anymore...
Kihn was too good for this Dance Fever junk. True Rock legend.....
And we had broken up for good just an hour before
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
Now I'm staring at the bodies as they're dancin' 'cross the floor
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
And then the band slowed the tempo and the music gets you down
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
It was the same old song with a melancholy sound
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
They don't write 'em like that anymore
They just don't write 'em like that anymore
We'd been living together for a million years
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
But now it feels so strange out in the atmospheres
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
And then the jukebox plays a song I used to know
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
And now I'm staring at the bodies as they're dancin' so slow
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
They don't write 'em like that anymore
They don't write 'em like that anymore
Now I wind up staring at an empty glass
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
'Cause it's so easy to say that you'll forget your past
(Uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh)
They don't write 'em like that anymore
No
They just don't write 'em like that anymore
They don't write 'em like that anymore
They just don't write 'em like that anymore
They just don't, no, they don't
No, no, uh-uh
They just don't write 'em like that anymore
They just don't
Love love love this!
Darling man... Many, many thanks.
RIP Greg Kihn😢🙏🙏
