Sibling rivalry is something we see quite often! So it came as no surprise when Volkswagen and Skoda announced that both are launching a new compact SUV, there were bound to compete with each other. But with the number of parts and components that both the Skoda Kushaq 1.5L TSI DSG and the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5L TSI DSG share, determining which is the better out of the two does seem complicated.
That is precisely why we at TopGear Magazine India took both these siblings on a 400-kilometre road trip to fine-tune our choices out of the two. To know what came out victorious, stick around till the end of the video!

Proud owner of kushaq 1.5 tsi. Hope this is promotional video for taigun . Both the dynamics and ride quality are the same . I have test driven taigun 1.5 multiple times. Kushaq has some additional advantages /features than taigun. Would have been more better if digital cockpit is fixed.
Yes.. I bought Skoda kushaq Monte Carlo..1.5 DSG.. digital cockpit now comes in style also.

I had booked Taigun in Dec 2021 after taking its test ride. I thought of considering Kushaq and took a test ride of Kushaq too and ended up buying Kushaq 1.0 AT cancelling Taigun booking. If you are considering 1.0 then Kushaq will be a good choice.
Could you please share some reasons on why kushaq is better than taigun?
@@mausamkhodifad1218 First n main reason is that I got good deal from Skoda. They offered 4 yrs service package for free along with discount. I am not a fan on sun roof so my choice was second top model. So
I compared second top models of both.
Both products are very strong but Design wise Kushaq is more appealing than Taigun. It has more mature design. I personally didn’t like the rear design of Taigun.
Kushaq’s ride quality is good. I found it comfortable on highway and in city too. This is because I bought Second top model Ambient which has 16 in tyres with different better profile. Both top models have 17 inch tyres with low profile which makes ride bumpy.
Interior design is better than Taigun. Skoda’s 2 Spoke steering wheel is very comfortable feels good when you drive.
Skoda Provides Led projector lights from Ambient version whereas with Taigun you get normal headlamps in second top model. For better illumination you will need to upgrade to projectors which will cost you more.
Same here initially booked taigun 1.5 mt and bought kushaq 1.5 mt. Got delivery on nov 15th

What about ventilated seats in VW Taigun GT Plus? I think it misses this feature. Which the Skoda Kushaq Style variant has.
I have driven both cars back to back and I feel like suspension of Kushaq is better even though by slight margin

personally I think the Kushaq style alloys looks anyday better than taigun GT alloys ,because it has 3d feeling due to proper cuts and sharpness all over, and taigun topline alloys are also great compared to GT

Leg room rather than turning radius. Suspension is hard which suits long drive with comfort. SKODA also comes with 6 bags now ! Either you know it or you did not share it as this is a taigun promotional video Pradeep 🙏🏽

Kushaq looks and road presence is much better and suspensions are really good in practical ground , brakes as well not any less plus styling and inside chamber more cool and comfy …
Kushaq is a better product overall. Design is closer to the classic Skoda design language. Taigun deviated from the VW design philosophy by slapping excess chrome at all sides to please the Indian palate. Skoda offers Subwoofer which taigun misses out on. Taigun has a digital instrument cluster but it doesn’t cover the entire console making it look substandard. Also, the balanced suspension setup in the Kushaq makes the ride more comfortable.

True, the chrome is disgusting for me and the so called infinity tail lamp will certainly go DULL due to UV effect of sunlight in no time. Kushaq certainly offers more value for money in the 1.0 litre range. But VW always promotes the flagship brand more - its just their marketing.

Taigun should include seat ventilation and front parking sensors for this top end variant, then it will be a complete package...Even no front parking sensors for Kushaq...Ventilation is there in kushaq.Indian conditions its so important. Its more a promotional review for Taigun.

How do u compare Tiagun GT+ to Seltos GT 7DCT? Which is more practical in your opinion?
Hey there, if you see the features definitely seltos wins on this par but on the build quality seltos is a eeh. The platform has 3 star in GNCAP. Taigun and kushaq’s NCAP is yet to come but I am sure it’ll be at least 4 stars. Taigo the sibling of taigun sold in UK markets but has a different platform but everything else is the same has a 5 star rating in Euro NCAP. Drive quality of Taigun can not be matched with Seltos you’ll only notice this difference when you drive both.
Taigun1.0 or kushaq 1.0 which one is best choice?
Having owned a RAPID since close to when it was launched near 2012, the plastics, fitment and door thud on both the Kushaq and Taigun do not compare with it AT ALL. Such CHEAP cost cutting measures would never be tolerated in western markets. India mein sab chalta hai for these brands. It sad how these brands lower their standards to keep their margins. Its high time they learn not to take us for granted.

It's a promotional video for VW Taigun. Not a true comparison. I have driven both and Skoda has a better suspension, a stronger road presence, and breaking doesn't seem any less than VW.

Already Happy owner of taigun 1 ltr topiine automatic. Fulfills all needs. Nice video quality. I did check only kushaq n taigun even it's my first car. German dynamics unmatched in comparison to Koreans n others.. taigun has an edge but both good.

@@abhijeetpustake it drives really well. I would says you would not even notice that you’re driving an 1 ltr engine. The tsi engine is superb and is very refined. It is an award winning engine outside india if you dig into it on google.

Both Taigun and Kushaq are almost the same except for looks and some features here and there. The top-end 1.5 DSG Kushaq makes much more sense than the Taigun top-end. The digital cockpit / speedo meter is a mere gimmick in Taigun. I like the Kushaq more than Taigun but go for what you like in the looks and that is it. Among all the suv's in this range these two are the best.

Not a genuine review:- Kushaq's suspension are better tuned, Taigun has stiff sporty suspension. Overall Kushaq is better, rear looks of Taigun are better.
They are not SUV not even mid size SUV. They are compact crossovers. Go learn the difference first then review cars

Don't go for dsg. It's unreliable n much costly 8n long run. It has dq200 gearbox which is problematic. Dry clutch it is. The dsg wet clutch gearbox comes in higher range. 1 ltr automatic high line or top line worth money..Sadly most of the buyers don't study technicals and doesn't understand their real needs. 1 .. please research more. Thanks

Skoda is a part of Volkswagen group. So there are bound to be similarities in the design of both the cars... Volkswagen owns Audi, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, Buggati....
Taigun does not have some of safety features which are exclusive to Skoda but Taigun looks amazing! Personally, I loved the features of the Kushaq and the look of the Taigun😍
