Reinforcing an Inflatable Toy, a Milka Cow

  • In this video I demonstrate my reinforcement of an inflatable Milka cow. It involves making a small slit in the toy; turning the toy inside out through that slit; and then gluing vinyl strips along each seam to span them. The toy can then be turned back right side out and the slit sealed. This leaves the toy with a stock appearance with little evidence of the reinforcement. After reinforcement, the inflatable is significantly sturdier and much less likely to break. If looking to strengthen a toy this is the method I would recommend.
    If planning to do something like this yourself, make sure to do so in a well-ventilated room so as not to breath the glue fumes.

    While I love to describe the many projects I have done, if they inspire you to do something, you do so at your own risk. The glues and solvents I use can be toxic and vinyl is not breathable and can cause suffocation.

    Would it be practical to do this on a 24” or a 36” beach ball?

    Hey quick question. This is off topic but when you ordered something off of IW. Before the pandemic. How much was the shipping from DHL without the surcharge

    • @HeathDragon
      @HeathDragon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know off the top of my head, but I live in Florida and their shipping has always been expensive.

      Heath Dragon I stay in Michigan and the charge is $50 so I’m just asking people that I know do they remember how much was the shipping before this happened out of curiosity

      The FyaRyuu dragons from Inflatable World have very soft vinyl.

      @@HeathDragon are there inflatables with even softer vinyl

    • @HeathDragon
      @HeathDragon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is probably as soft as you would want a toy to be. Any softer and it might be very fragile.

    What glue do you use, I've been using pattex and it's a contact glue, I find it only works well using vices for pressure. Is it HH-66 which is way more like a solvent? Makes it look so easy Oo
    Edit: solvent based glue, yes, thanks

    Ha I actually used a hammer as a weight to hold the glue down because my glue didn’t want to hold down the material so I used the hammer

    • @HeathDragon

      I usually just use scrap vinyl from another inflatable. Those very cheap inflatable mats are a good source.
