When I got this game, I went out of my way to find all the explosive barrels I could so I could get wolverine down to a skeleton and watch it all grow back
I'm totally convinced that the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game was an apology to everyone who expected more out of the film. In every way the film disappointed, the game succeeded. Yes, the Deadpool character butcher was still an unforgivable mess, and the Gambit fight was a big dragged out. But for the most part, for every grievance the film caused, the game healed.
Yeah. I still stand by the film tho. It's not perfect but will always have a special place in my heart. I left the theater a bit confused but ultimately happy
It's a weird situation where the reasons the movie was bad is part of the reason the game was good. Basically because the movie went through development hell and kept getting delayed, Raven software got longer to develop the game and polish it up for way longer than expected. At least that's what I've heard
One of the best movie based tie in game ever made by Raven Software, and boy how much they delivered it. They really made this game as violent as possible. The infamous helicopter kill or the fact you can see his damaged body. Showing such detail to his organs, and slowly heals. Is such a incredible feature.
@@MrHammers this game is excellent, but I think X men legends 1 and 2 are some of their best ever. I really wish they'd make a 3rd one with the success of X men 97 and Deadpool and Wolverine.
I know it isn’t canon but I kinda like the Easter egg of Raven (mystique) and Wraith (who is a teleporter) having a kid. Little wink and nudge towards night crawler.
This game did the "play with the classic suits" feature fantastically. Normally, games tend to try to "realize" these classic suits so as to justify a grown man wearing what looks to be cosplay in the field, and pretty much every time these takes fall flat. This game, however, made the suits look basically exactly that; cosplay, and I love that. Let these suits/outfits shine as they are, they're beautifully insane. Much like the abilities of these characters to begin with, eh?
I loved this game. As a kid who grew up with the 90s X-Men TAS in which Wolverine could never use his claws on anything, it was so satifying to actually see Wolverine at his full potantial!
This game was way better than it had any business being, considering how terrible the movie was. I forget how detailed it was with the body deformation that Wolverine goes through and then grows back. I remember thinking how good the game was back when it released and was surprised how amazing it was.
I was beyond pissed as a kid finding out the ps2 version was the inferior version. I begged my mom to take me back to the store to get the pc version only to find out the pc I had at the time couldn’t run it….i miss those days dearly
Great video! X-Men Origins: Wolverine was awesome! The only other games I recall that featured characters regenerating are Deadpool and Splatterhouse 2010.
The PS2 version is very....not insane. Full of QTEs and I mean everywhere! Still loved it, all the enemies were cyborgs or devoid of blood. Cutscenes were tamer too, you can imagine the rush I felt playing the PS3 version for the first time. Basically a brand new game.
The fact that game companies make it so their new consoles just straight up can't play certain older games for no reason is utter BS. It sucks cause I have shattered dimensions, edge of time and this game all on disk. But I can't play them on anything nowadays.
Cornelius was the person who was overseeing the process of the adamantium bonding process who was a man. He did have a female assistant, "Hines" who was sympathetic to Wolverine. Jumping through a window and chopping Trask's hand off is right out of the Weapon X story where Wolverine jumps through a window and cuts off Cornelius' hand.
One of the rare examples where the actual game based off the film is the superior product in every way. Wish I got this when I had the chance but at least I have the Deadpool game lol
I really hope the satisfying lunge from this game will be in Insomniac's Wolverine. That, bonus costumes, and damage regeneration effects should be the only mandatory things to bring back.
It’s crazy cause I played this entire game and don’t remember most of what you showed in this video but that beginning helicopter stage and the ending fight
I really doubt that Insomniac's Wolverine will reach the levels of gore and brutality that Raven's Origins did. If it does, I will be very pleasantly surprised.
This game is literally the exact blueprint they should follow for the new Wolverine game… Just upgrade the graphics to modern standards, up the blood and gore, make the story and environments epic, and don’t “woke” it up..💯
Seems like insomniac took a lot of inspiration from this game for Spider-Man and they will obviously do the same for Wolverine. The jumping over shielded grunts, riding blob is just like the rhino fight in smmm.

35:50 Honestly the only way I was able to make sense of it all was that Stryker hit Kayla in a vital area so she was gonna die regardless, and rather not have him wake up next to her lifeless body like they did in the movie. Or something like that; I thought it was still stupid either way.
Your tangent at the end about licensing issues being stupid really does ring true. So many games are left unavailable for modern players just because companies can't get their sh*t together. I'm one of the lucky fellows that still has his old consoles available, but the same can't be said for others.

19:55 as far as I can tell Anna is a completely original charcater, but Cornelius is from the comics, but has very little in common with this iteration.
He can cover the doctor to absorb a hail of bullets and get shredded my a mini-gun... But then grabs his arm in thriving pain for a syringe shot in the arm... lol

I freakin' LOVE this game! It's literally everything you could want in a Wolverine game. If you ask me, Insomniac has some pretty big shoes to fill with their take on the character. Also, I love how this game has better Sentinel designs than any of the movies ever did. Side note: As controversial an opinion this may seem, I actually kind of like the idea of Weapon XI. I mean, a weapon for hunting down and killing mutants created by taking several mutant powers and splicing them into one person? That's a pretty cool idea for an X-Men villain. HOWEVER, the problem is, you guessed it, they just had to call him Deadpool. I guarantee you, if they hadn't tried to tie Wade Wilson into it, nobody would have been complaining about it. P.S.
