Hi Jayne, Thankyou Jayne for posting this, very untypical work by a long way from the accepted Delius sound. This is not another soothing 'Paradise Garden' instead its quite thrillingly unsentimental Scandinavian stormy seas mountains fjords a la Sibelius - yet a mischievous troll keeps cropping up......Any listeners who like Eventyr might also try - A Poem of Love and Life which is on a similar heroic trajectory. Ian.

It can take some getting into but the rewards are well worth the effort! It may seem alien to Delius at first until the trade mark signatures are noticed and the tingles come quickly! I have used 'A Poem of Life and Love' twice on a biopic of the composer in Yorkshire.... please do see - 'Delius the Yorkshireman''.
It is clear from this piece that it was not only Wagner who could do the Nordic Epic type of thing, but Delius does it in his unique way and always enshrined within Mother Nature. Thanks for the great comment Ian. Jayne Anne

A marvelous piece, very inventive orchestration. Orange you glad Delius did not persevere in the plantation business?

Especially lovely is his use of the "chord stream" effect.

It had a large part in the shaping of Delius musically though.... Thanks Robin.
