The worst thing about this is that I have no excuse not to do it. I've done harder levels deathless in other games. It's just a matter of sitting down and actually starting the grind
I also recently did every C-Side in a row (back to back) deathless too, which is the most recent video of mine. That is either even better of an accomplishment than this, or a close 2nd place. I'd like to see what you think of that, and thank you :)

That haunted hotel with the timing parts.... holy shit. I imagine luck would be in order there, but then again, Celeste teaches us time and again that it never is about luck. Great job.
I with there will be some statistics about celeste that shows percentage of people who achieved different things, like finishing the normal sides, the B/C sides, golden strawberries... Anyway I have no idea how to make this
Kellen Bluestein yep is all about execution... sometimes you know exacly what to do in advance but are unable to express your 'will' on the controller... (sometimes I push the wrong diagonal always in the same spot for some reason... something like wrongly fusing 2 moves in one because i input too clumsy) What I find extremelly usefull is use the assist mode to warm up. Here is how you do it. Begin the area you want to beat in 50% speed... beat it once. Speed up to 60% beat it again... do it again for 70%, 80%, 90% then finally try normal speed. This is SUPER useful, you get to learn all the moves the right way, trim all 'vices' off. I repeat... if you are having trouble with 5c or 7c, turn assist mode on and warm up ... it puts you gradually in the 'zone' at your own pace.(Try creating a new save file if you don't want to 'taint' your current one with assist mode :P)
I really should get this game. Probably will get it on the Switch if anything. I love the feeling of satisfaction when I complete something, so this’ll be nice.
Yoooooo i just did this, only took me about 4 days, which is wild considering 7ag took me about a week. Goes to show how much goldens made me better at the game in general.
This is really crazy, I'm not even talking about the fact that you did a real 100% speedrun. I remember how hard it was to finish it dying something like 1500 times, so doing it deathless in a 114 hours speedrun... I guess you're done with the game now. Just another question, what do you think to be the best, keyboard or controller?
Oh no, it wasn't a speedrun lol, I just had my file time displayed. It was my first and only 114% playthrough, on my first save file. I'd say you'll get good much quicker and have a more intuitive controlling experience using a controller. Keyboard is really confusing to control for the first bit, and it takes even longer to get fully comfortable with. However, having the freedom to press any key at any time allows for a potentially much easier time, especially when dashing. Even on a dpad on the controller, I'd still do dashes in the wrong direction sometimes. Now with keyboard, I never have mis-inputs. I'm sure you can get as good with either control medium, but I personally think keyboard allows for the easiest control once you get it down.
Yeah i understood that, we're just not calling a speedrun the same thing, okay that's not really one finally That's what I thought, I began with the keyboard and I'm about to finish C sides like this. Good night wherever you are
Am I gonna have to learn KBM Celeste to pull this off? I play on controller and I’ve always been bad at left stick inputs. FYI bout to tackle Core B-Side
No, you will probably just have to overcome that issue and become completely competent and master whichever control scheme you have chosen to use. In other words, you should stick what you are most comfortable with unless you really feel like you will benefit from switching and want to switch.
It took me 1200 deaths and 4 hours to complete this stage. The overall level is not actually that bad, everything perfectly manageable except for Summit Station flags 9 and 2, which are by far two of the hardest sequences in the entire game. Those two alone accounted for over half my deaths and playtime. The idea that anyone has earned a Golden Strawberry on this level seems physically impossible to me. I've only seen you and Horheristo do it in the world
There are plenty who have done it by now. I get what you are saying, but it really isn't nearly as bad as you would think. It took me over 1000 deaths my first run-through as well. The difficulty the first time comes from multiple things: having to analyze the level, come up with a strategy that works, and execution of it. Having to figure out what to do is the part that makes you die a bunch, because think about it, you walk into a new screen every time on your first playthrough, and it's completely new information to you; a completely new puzzle. So what I'm saying is, you have a warped view of how difficult it actually is because you only know it from your first run-through, when literally anything would seem 1000x harder on your first run-through. On the second time through, even without practice, you will likely get less then half the deaths, because now you already know what to do and it just comes down to execution. Now imagine going through each level one by one, doing it many times over and over again, finding the best possible strategy for safety and consistency for each one, and practicing that repeatedly for several hours. I probably practiced for around 5 hours on this thing, and around 2 of those hours were on the last section alone. I played this thing for 10 hours total, so that was ample time to practice, memorize, and put into action the optimal strategies for each of the levels. Truly anything is much easier than you think it to be, although it still may be really hard, and most likely requires a lot of practice, it is not nearly as bad as you may think. :) This is definitely not something that only a few people can do like you said in another comment, I believe that if you tried you would surprise yourself. You are more than capable my friend.
nah I get that totally. I've gotten several golden strawberries scattered throughout the A and C sides, and going to work on B sides 1 and 2. And i've since done all of the B sides in under 100 deaths (except for summit that's still triple digits). But all the way through no deaths I still think B sides 3-8, esp 6-8, is into the realm of the 0.001% of all players. My hat is off to you, but I know my limits lol. I've got my own party tricks in the real world I'll stick to. *thumbs up for the detailed reply though*
just did this one too. 1751. i spent at least 30 minutes on checkpoint 2. whole level took me about 4 hours in one sitting. my hands were so sore by the end lol
It's a strat necessary for the Dashless 1-A golden berry, I call it the higher wall jump. I'll copy and paste a past reply of mine where I try to explain this technique to the best of my ability, though it is kind of hard to explain in text. "The hitbox of walls that allows you to jump off of it extends further above it than it physically shows, this lets you do several things, and I would recommend watching someone’s tutorial on Chapter 1 A-Side Dashless to get a better idea on what all of those things are. Anyway, you get to the top of the wall and jump straight up, and then jump again, but sooner than you think you would be able to. I’d actually recommend doing a medium initial straight up jump on the wall, rather than a max height one, because then you can basically just press jump the second time immediately (which is what I showed at the timestamp you marked). It’s hard to explain in text but it’s actually super easy, and like I said maybe go watch a video on Ch 1 Dashless to get a better idea, as well as try it yourself."
What are the Keyboard Controls set to Default? (Example: [Key] = [Jump] [Key] = [Dash] [Key] = [Grab] [Key] = [Pause]) (I wanna know because reasons XD)
The default controls are Z, X, C, and the arrow keys. Z = grab X = dash C = jump I used those originally but some key (I can’t remember which) wasn’t working 100% reliably at some point, so I switched to B, N, and M, same idea though I just moved to the other side of the keyboard. The controls are very awkward at first because all of the functions are right next to each other on keyboard, rather than spread out and mapped to completely different locations like on the controller. However, I feel like the switch from controller to keyboard was worth it, the speed and reliability of the controls once you get used to them are impeccable.
Keyboards allow for more precise input. Most hardcore players, particularly those who mostly play platforming based games strictly use keyboard. There are some exceptions though.
Jerrydactyl ya I could see why, i play this on my Nintendo switch and I keep dashing the wrong direction lol. Not about to buy the game twice just so I could use a keyboard, tho
