    The FX item actually can be fitted to the barrel/silencer, and comes with a great app that saves your gun profile(s). You can tell it the pellets you're using including weight, and it gives you all the info you could possibly want without a calculator. It also saves your 'shot strings' so you can refer back to them. They're a great bit of kit IMHO

      I'm sure the FX chrono is wonderful. It ought to be for the price! 😄

    The most useful tool I have for my rifles, is an adjustable torx screwdriver. I have found it, particularly useful for mounting scopes. Both into the rings and onto the rifles rail. It is nice to know that all the screws are tightened the same. You obviously don’t want to overtighten the rings onto the scope. The set I have, will do all sizes and types of screw head fixings. I knew you would have one of those. I would also suggest a small bottle of medium blue Loctite. Very useful for springers, it definitely saves screws from being shaken loose, but you are still able to remove them without any problem.

      For avoidance of confusion for anyone, I think @stevecross5444 means the ‘Torque Driver’, often marketed as torque screwdrivers.
      Agreed. They are extremely useful, especially for scope rings and would be a great Christmas present for airgunners. 🎄

      @@BionicRusty Yes. That is what I meant. Although they are marketed as Torx Drivers. Obviously an American spelling, I would think. 👍

    Thanks for the video. The first little cheap crono you showed works great, When you turn it on it will
    flash a PS when it does this push the button again real fast and it will switch to and show FPS.
    And when your finished, pushing the button once more will cycle through the fps of all the shots

      Thanks. As I said, my earlier model didn't have that option unfortunately.

    So glad HFT Shooter showed up on my TH-cam display. A lot of really interesting stuff well explained and so I subscribed. Really delighted also to come across another air gunner who has managed to shoot his own chronograph. Are there many of us? Regards, Baz.

    I looked at a few gun butlers after watching your video and settled for a Nitehawk very useful. 👍

    Fix it sticks do a great torque set including bits, hex, screwdriver and torx, expensive but you'll never need anything else. US military snipers use this make as do large numbers of instructors.

    Hello my friend,
    Thank you for a great, informative, advice filled video. You are very kind in spending your time ensuring people don't trip up as they go their air rifling journies.
    I found everything you spoke about of great help, especially the chronographs.
    Thank you.

    Alright! Many thinks for this video. Lot's of good tips here!
    I've been told many times to avoid cleaning the barrel with firearm cleaners as they will slowly eat away at the delicate seals and O-Rings in an airgun. Like you, I've heard people swear by Balistol and, thus, it's what I've taken to using.
    I, too, have a set of allen keys similar to yours. Do you have metric or SAE? I need both, depending on the gun/scope country of origin. As for the collection of little allens, I have a small case that I keep them in for the odd (3.5mm?) need.
    Along with the torque wrench, I have a leveling tool and a couple of spirit level which I recommend to others who are interested in mounting their own scopes.
    Wow! I love your gunsmithing toolbox. I'll be ordering one of those in short order!
    Cheers,

      Thanks Don. We're all metric here, but I do have some imperial size tools in the workshop should a weird bolt turn up. 😄👍

    Just solder a new infrared LED from an old remote control back on. Just make sure you get the polarity right.

      Never heard that before, what a great idea. Just so happens I have some old controls lying about. I'm going to give it a try! 😀👍

    Thanks for the video Jeff, however I myst point out a coulle of issues : FIrstly, you should never put gun oil on a wooden stock, over time it will lead to the wood splitting! You also mention that the FX chronograph needs a fair distance to work effectively, this is incorrect, I use mine indoors with a backstop over 3ft and it's super accurate and consistent. Lastly, only use pull through if accuracy starts to drop off, a "leaded" barrel is a good thing for an air rifle and regulat cleaning is not required.

    • @hftshooter
      @hftshooter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Twisting my words a bit Nick. 😉 Personally, I prefer having my backstop right behind my chrono, less chance of DIY repairs. 😅 If that works for you great! 🙂👍

    Using those nail wipes as pull throughs is a good idea, but…. The proper pull through wipes are slightly abrasive on one side for deep cleaning, are the nail wipes the same?

    • @hftshooter
      @hftshooter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The nail wipes are soft both sides. I use the Napier paper pull through and they're not abrasive at all. I don't think I'd want to pull anything abrasive through my barrel?

    Thanks for the video Jeff. Just out of interest, how do you clean the barrel on your spring rifle given it needs to be cocked to access the breach?

    • @hftshooter
      @hftshooter  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have a wooden plug that fits in the breach when it's cocked to stop anything from moving.

    • @robbo2976
      @robbo2976 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just break the barrel, don't fully cock. Maybe use a wooden wedge to keep it open enough.

    • @hftshooter
      @hftshooter  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your suggestion. The NateChrony wasn't on the market when I made this video. I've never used one and I would only recommend stuff I've used. From what I've seen it looks okay, but not that much better that I would replace the chrono I have. 🙂👍
