    An exterior shot would've been nice since it's also to protect from prying eyes...

    I really dig your appetite for Volvo accessories and extras. I never knew they had such a plethora of add-ons to choose from. Incredible.

    Cool! I like these. I have an Mazda RX8 that has privacy tinted windows, but it would cost too much to get my Volvo tinted. I might try this.

    Amazing! You have upgraded so many things, like building a new car. Must be very satisfying. I have a 2012 XC 60 T6. Don't know if I had the courage to dismentle a lot of factory built. But may I know where to order these genuine parts from a reliable source? The dealership would cost me a fortune. Thanks.

    You can eliminate the gap on the trunk door by playing a little with the wire of the shade. Just bend it around the third stop light.

    Thanks I enjoy your videos. Do you think these would fit 2002 V70 XC? The sun shades for my year have been discontinued, but it says they were compatible with 1998-2016 so maybe the windows didn't change much. Thanks again

    would it work as a mosquito net? Are the holes in the mesh small enough that mosquitoes and flies wouldn't get in? I see some small gaps at the top and bottom outside corner but you could use a little tape or something to seal them off. Thanks!

    Awesome videos, very thorough. Thanks.
    I've been eying a '11 XC70 but its rear door speaker grille is busted.
    Do you think the speaker grille can be changed without removing the door panel?

    • @volvosweden
      @volvosweden  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its easy to remove the door panel, watch my other video on how to do that.
      I dont know if its possible without removing it.
      xc70 is an excellent car which stands out on the road, dont hesitate.

      Thanks for the reply. Turns out they don't sell the speaker grille alone, the whole shell needs to be replaced.
      Anyway, a general comment:
      In your videos when you take out (especially a large) bolt, there is some red stuff on the threads. I assume that would be threadlocker. But getting a bolt with threadlocker is a pain in the neck and should involve applying heat and I did not see you apply any threadlocker when you put things together, could you please explain?
      Thanks

  • @tscholent
    @tscholent 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The idea of this technology is to have maximum lumens (light) coming in at minimum heat entering the car…ergo a couple of slots not covered are not making a huge difference. Lot of folks have the this idea where a car is less hot if the exterior has a light (white) color when actually a light (beige or tan)interior has much more of an impact on the inside temperature.Of course there is the argument of security where people say they don’t want people to see what’s inside the car. In that case too this material is a better provider because the human iris has difficulty focusing through “gons” (heptagons, octagons etc.).A flash light does not help either because of the same optical diffraction.Tinting a car’s windows pitch dark makes it look “goonish”and cheap.Good show my friend!

    • @wilhelmjohansson1643
      @wilhelmjohansson1643 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well if you have black interior the car will get hotter because the interior will absorb more of the light whilst lighter colors will reflect more, the thing with tints is that they reduce the amount of infrared and ultraviolet light that penetrates the window which makes it cooler inside. Darker materials cools faster but also builds up heat faster.

    nice video! can see the point on the door shades but why would you need the load compartment shades since you already have tinted windows?

    • @volvosweden
      @volvosweden  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, its looks more complete if all windows are covered especially from inside the car.

    @Volvosweden , great videos, do you still use these shades or did you ditch them ? worth the investment ?

    • @volvosweden
      @volvosweden  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still use them every summer. I don't like the installation part. The worse is the tailgate shade. It falls easy. You need more plastic catches to hold it in place

    • @toneranger
      @toneranger 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@volvosweden thanks, good to know that you still use them. Using both tints and shades is probably the way to go in hot climes

    You make the best Videos, I've learned a lot from watching since I got the 2015 XC70 T6 (used). I watched your video to install the mud flaps, scuff plate, etc., and now for the load compartment curtains--my question from the Volvo instructions was how the clips should be inserted--which side towards the window glass, and whether the flat side of the clip should be inserted into the window--now I have a better idea after watching the video.
    I am awaiting your video on the Polstar upgrade conclusion promised for March, 2019.
    As you may know, the 2015 XC70 does not have front fog lamps--which is a real bummer. My 1998 V90 had them, and every Volvo should have them. I asked the dealer if there was a retrofit for it and they said no. Do you have any idea or guidance on how front fog lamps could be retrofitted on 2015 & 2016 XC70's? I can't believe Volvo decided to leave them out for running lights--what a cop out. The button in the dash is there for them. Is there anyway? Thanks.
    Also, would you recommend Gislaved over Nokian on the dedicated winter tires? I had Gislaved on my V90, loved them, but could not find in USA subsequently, and went with Nokian WR-G2 & G3's (on the V90)--but inadequate. Now just installed Nokian WR G4's on the XC70 as 3-season tires and looking for dedicated winters tires for next winter (just got the XC70 used in Jan 2019 since the V90 got damaged in accident)--thinking about Hakka R3 or 8--or Gislaved. I want to downsize wheel to 16 from 18 if possible for the winter tires--cheaper and more protection--but Nokian does not make a 16 inch tire at 70% aspect for downsize compatibility with existing 235/50 R18's on the car.

      Hey. Polestar review will be up this weekend hopefully. If owners retrofit from fog lights to drl's then it should be possible to do it wise versa. You need to get a fog light kit and change software at the dealer to make the controls work different. I guess your dealer is lazy to help you.
      Hakapelita or Gislaved? Both are very good. And yes 16 inch for winter is a winner! Cheaper for sure. I got my 16 cecino rims used locally.
      All the best!

      @@volvosweden: Thanks, you are the best. I will be learning from your videos, so much I want to do with the car.
      Guess would have to get the dummy switch for the Front Fogs replaced--would swapping the entire top and bottom switch module for one from say a 2013/2014 be better? Would the wires have to be connected for the switch?

    • @volvosweden
      @volvosweden  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No need to swap the light switch module. It's all software.
