Installing Scratch Made Hot Rod Floor Pans - 1927 Model T

- In this episode the Model T finally gets some floors. This was my first time making floors from scratch so be gentle in the comments. Right from the structure, the trans tunnel and the sheeting all came from lengths of raw steel. After templating the floor with poster board, I transferred it onto sheet metal then cut it out. I fit the panels and cleco’d them down, then started marking the panels for bead rolling. This was my first time really using a bead roller so I kept it simple with evenly spaced horizontal beads. It turned out pretty darn good and the floor is extremely sturdy! The old hot rod is coming along day by day.

I really like watching you work on the cars & trucks. You never give up working on the job you start God as bless you with lots of talent take care and keep up the good work .
8:47 I love it!!! You had to use a hammer to straighten the panel. Now that is definitely built not bought. I've Loved this channel for a long time and you never seem to disappoint. Keep up the great work.
hey thanks man! really appreciate all the support
Really liking the Floor work!...yes clecos are the stuff Dan!...they will hold anything in place for projects...I used them for years helping Build Aircraft where there mainly used...I've got some in my Garage & some saftey wire pliers& Cleco pliers very handy!...
Looking good, plenty of support and stiffeners in the metal, keeping it clean and simple.
thanks buddy!
Wow. That’s nice n clean. And very neatly done. Lots of care in it. Sometimes love is all ya need. A little Beatles music goes good for the soul. I did not know what a bead roller was. Now I’m educated about it. Nice touch. 😍👍
Coupe looks great and looks like plenty of leg room with flat on the floor seats. great idea.
You are doing a great job. Thanks for teaching me too
You want to be top 25! You are definitely top 5! I truly believe you will build a over $100, 000US car soon!
thanks buddy! i dunno if i got those skills just yet
Floors lookin good!! Coupe is coming along nice!!
Sweet outcomes on all, including the bead rolling. Best way to learn: just start doing it if there are no instructions.
Looking good! I wouldn't have had any idea where to start with this thing, thank's for taking the time to video, I can apply what I'm learning here to a lot of stuff.
i didnt know wherw to start either haha
I've been watching your channel for awhile now ever since I seen you at Halfass Kustoms like what your doing in the shop building on the low buck and using what you got. I'm not sub to your channel yet but on my T.V. when I'm watching TH-cam your video's all ways pop up and I watch the T-build. I already voted on HalfassKustoms Buick you have to admit that thing is badass but now that you say there is diffrent categories I can vote for your T and the 46-8 looks awesome to I have a 47 Chevy coupe
i like the fact that you never git hung up you allways bounce around any problem to git ur done
Doing an awesome job on the floor assy. I'll be doing pretty much the same kind of deal real soon on a 39 Buick coupe. I hope mine turns out as nice as yours did. Thanks for sharing with us.
Good morning Dan Greta work you are a craftsman! Wish I could get motivated !
Very nice, upping your game , nice
I’m floored with your work. Nice 👍
haha
Nice progress. Yes, clecos are very handy. Like most things we are new at, we get a handle on the process about the time it's finished. LOL!
haha thats my life
Looking good
Really looking good, can't wait to see the finished floor. You do great work by the way.
thanks lewis!
I worry about water getting up behind that rear pannell but then again it's not done and I'm only a few minutes in to the video so we'll see, but I'm sure you will take care of whatever needs done! You're videos are pretty inspirational my friend!!!
My favorite channel out of all if them.
You're making great time and progress! Floors are looking great! I like how you brought us along on the journey and explained it all well what you were doing. Thanks!!
Looks like you have that roller going your way. Looking gooder👍🇺🇸🤙😃
Thanks 👍
Your floors came out real good. The car is looking better and better.
The bead roller works really cool
Nice work. Thanks
Good job buddy
Great progress. Soon you'll be making your own hood lid
Nice work dude ! That looks like fun !
Looking awesome.......nice job :]
That floor looks fine! Hide some dyna mat in the hidden areas.💰
Playingwithhorsepower amen if seam sealer and dynamat can’t hide it you don’t need it.
yup itll get some sort of sound deadening for sure haha
@@DDSpeedShop : Hope this note ain't too late: For SAFETY, you may want to put a heavier sheet of steel between you & Dani's BODIES and the FUEL CELL in the UNlikely, but ALWAYS possible Accident!! I recommend a thick panel of "safety" plate. (Think if it ever blew up!-short cash = life WIN!)It's usually the "other guy's " fault for staring at your awesome creation: steering where they're looking. My friend (dear departed) Steve built a remarkably cool T bucket. Drove it down to my apt in Revere,MA. To check it out...on my 21st (?)birthday- made my day!!
Enjoyed
Floor looks great Dan.
Floor looks great keep up the great work and stay safe...
Nice job Dan the beadroller works great makes your sheetmetal fab floorpanels look like factory floorpans.Looks nice and neat well done!Glenn P.
Cool, thanks!
New tools, new skills... new parts. Looks good from here. Nice work Dan.
Looking good.
Great job Dan! You may think that you are just learning, but you are teaching as well. If I had the Information that is available now when I was growing up, my life would have been a lot different. Thanks for what you do buddy.
You, ole peg and deboss are the most mintiest Canadian's
thanks buddy! Really appreciate that
@@DDSpeedShop no problem! Check out my instagram (kuhn.man) whenever you are free. I am building a 68 Nova and a 56 chevy shortbed.
You are doing great work on these timeless bodies, keep it up the skies the limits, enjoy watching you
Add a 2 inch extension on the top of your rear fire wall sticking above the package tray, so that when you put stuff up there, like cell phone or gloves, they won't fall off going down the road
You already win in my mind! You got my vote.
thanks josh!
Looking GOOD !!!! THANKS !!
Wow, looks great, you should be proud. Fab looks good, welds look good, can’t wait for the next video.
Thanks 👍
Looking great
You may not have done this before, but I can't tell by looking. Great job, always love the videos!
thanks buddy!
Moving along nicely. For first time you did amazing. We learn as we go. Keep at it.
Excellent job, like watchinng
Your doing just fine keep it up

Awesome work ,the floor looks great
Looking great Dan. Watching stuff like this helps me have the confidence to get my car done one of these years haha
It's coming along nicely 👍👍🇨🇱
Those roller panels turned out great! Learning more and more from these videos.
i was pretty stoked with em
I think this build is going along great Dan. The floor is really coming along nice. Learning your knew toys is make this bead rolling a cinch next time it'll be easy
Looks brilliant dan I have just finished my floor on my model A coupe
Awesome job once again Dan. Thanks for sharing your skills and Garage Time with us.
look'n good Dan, can't wait to see the final product of this car..
Dan great job on the floors on the backfill I was thinking I’m a carpenter and for a tablesaw you always have a one run out table for a long piece of sheet material.......For long plank ... I alway work by myself... you should try to make a jig for around the beat roller some arms that hold the panels going out the back...So they wouldn’t drop them all over like a parachute!!!!!!!!! if it was my B-Roller that’s what I would do...... to make life a lot easier in your shop... I bet you could make a jig for the right hand side when you’re facing it and also the backside and even the front they could be easily put on or take them off keep up the great work junkman do back here in New England and it’s raining
i had those thoughts after i was done haha.
Hi Dan . Looking good, love your attitude, would love to do the same but having a dairy farm never get time to play in the work shop on my car's. . Keep safe and I will keep watching Paul in the uk
Hi from Australia at the star was thinking hope he doesn't put a bead where the seat has to bolt in was happy to see beads either side of the cross brace good job
I like this guys show!
thanks!
Nice work
Coming together nicely !! Thanks for taking us along !! I enjoyed the content !!! God bless you all !!!! Eddy
A year later. I'm al caught up on what you're building now. So going back and looking at what I missed.
Very nice job....coming along good...great to watch you as you learn...
thanks dennis!
There looking badass keep up the great work... Saw your video and loved it.. I love seeing all these videos of the cars and such. It's great that everyone can still enjoy some rides and fun.. Good luck on the votes and keep the wrenches on turnin and the tires on burnin..
Awesome Dan . That T is looking good !
That's coming along pretty good
Hey Dan floors coming along really well. Must be getting pretty itchy to hop in and take it for a spin. Well done!
Panels look GREAT 👍!!!
I miss this car
i’m floored at how good it looks.
Nice job on the pans Danny. Actually came out better than I thought they would.
haha me too
Go Dan... Go!
Looking sweet
Nice work, simple and clean
Very cool details of the flooring and bead rolling of those panels. Looking forward to see how your going to tie the back panel and package tray together.
Good luck with your submissions!
looks like that wheel on the bead roller was a great addition. Floor is looking great
That steering wheel on the bead roller was a stroke of genius. I think you can cover that tunnel with three long strips that you can just scribe since the strips can form to the structure. Good work!
Looks good buddy.
Awesome 👍🏾👍🏾 I follow Sarah I tune as well because I got the Rav4, and need to learn new things about computers and sencer's, and stuff 😀👍🏾 floor looking great 👍🏾 next time do a rolled tunnel is easyer, that's what I should have done on one of my car's but just did pach panel's, did the job but looked funny I didn't mind it was my car and if I got carpet in would of hid it lol , but cardboard is our best friend as to making the patterns 😀😀👍🏾👍🏾
totally she rocks!
Don't forget those brake lines!
haha i wont
Lookin good bro, always enjoy sipping the morning coffee on a Sunday and finding a vid of yours or Brent's and see how the Manitoba gear head brethren are making out on the projects this week. This time of the year you guys are an hour ahead of us so had time to check out a few ...busy week! Keep it up!
Looking super rad!
Outstanding build I love hanging out with you watching the Dream come Alive. Love Your Show from Charlotte NC
Looking great! For the first time with the bead roller looks like your getting the hang of it pretty quick.
Like the floors they are looking good. It's giving me and idea of how to do my floor in my Gasser project. 🤔Good luck on your submission video.
im just winging it haha
@@DDSpeedShop yeah I'm always just winging it myself. 🤨
I just came in for lunch after welding on some junk this morning and noticed a new vid , I’m a paint and body that also wrench’s ,
So I do similar to your work but on newer , then I watch you do basically the same thing for entertainment ! What is wrong with us ?
Will look for your entry’s and vote , excellent engineering work on the floors they look really nice . Peace friend , Jim
thanks buddy!
I think those are excellent results for a first attempt!!
Thank you!
Looking badass!! Might have to get me some of them fancy tools?? Great job bro!!
You should!
They look great!
I think the inside is progressing really well and great job on the rolling.
Looks good. Weird to see fresh sheetmetal on it, but hey some things have to be done!
Floors look great, You got my vote.
Awesome!
Hi Dan, first time commenter but long time watcher.....you might want to look at Mustie1 for his idea of motorizing his similar beadroller. Motorizing it makes it a one man operation instead of a 2 man job plus it gives you a forward and backward operation.
Great job with the floor, you are going to end up being very good at this car building stuff.
youll end up in business for sure!!
