They ask your budget because they can get you exactly what you want within your price range so if that’s $5k and you can’t afford that then they’ll have to lower how thick the “mm” and lower the karrot or length good jewelers don’t rob you they educate you on the market and turn you into an investor it behooves them more to do so instead of robbing you they need returning customers

Just keep in mind that "iced out" Rolexes are worth less than those that are not "iced out" on the secondary market and pretty much anything with gold "iced out" is worth nothing but the gold weight on the secondary market, the minuscule diamonds are practically worthless. These jewelers pay around $0.5-1 for each those diamonds and charge thousands if not tens of thousands for setting a couple hundred of them on a piece, basically ruining it, whatever the piece may be.
And anyone who claims they can tell the "grade" of a 0.05-0.1 carat diamond is lying, those are not graded.
Rolex makes some of their watches with diamond bezels and dials, those hold their value, but you're right, any after market work on a OG rolex of patek will destroy its value

I grew up poor, i mean real poor where my mom didnt have enough food on the table for herself. She always gave what she had to her kids. I ended up going to college and became an engineer. I now own 3 houses (rental properties) and have over $200k in savings. Growing up though I use to imagine buying stuff like this but now that I can afford it, it no longer interest me. Crazy how life works. I spend my money on investments and travel. If it aint making me money or give me a lasting experience with my fam I wont buy it.
What fields do you invest in? When I grow up I will inherit my parents property and I'm looking to maybe start in real estate.
