Absolutely gorgeous dog!!! Stunning beauty!!! My 20 month old male is about 31kg. Sensitive, strong willed, smart, loving, gentle, protective, goes everywhere with me, every store that allows dogs he’s there. He’s a graduate of multiple training programs. We have a couple acres of un fenced property in the country, he can run all day long and some days it’s not enough. I run 5 days a week too and he’s recently started that. Energy to burn!!!! He loves to point and flush when off leash and I don’t hunt it’s just in him ❤. This breed is not for you if you need to leave them crated or alone while no one is home for hours a day, we spend soooo much time with him, makes him who he is. Absolutely our best friend.
the size and weight is for a female (male r bigger), and the keyword is activity. If u dont walk them for 90 minutes and play or work with them for another 30 min, they get destructive and chew your furniture. so only if u r active and have a backup plan when u r sick. u also can't let them alone the whole day and go to work, somebody has to be there, and at least walk them. I have them for 40 years and I m not happy that everybody wants one now, just because they r beautiful
I agree completely with ur statement. I have neighbours who have to as gun dogs. They need serious excersice daily. People who take on working dog breeds need to know its a working dog. That means hours of walks a day. Or else as you said they get bored and go nutty
My dad wants them so when he goes cycling on the trails he can have someone to be with and run alongside and when my mom goes running/walking we can go with the dog
I have had many dog breeds, but this is my first Vizsla! I have to say my Vizsla is the most difficult, clingy , destructive dog I have ever owned. My vizsla is like a 2 year old human child, full of energy, constantly wanting your attention…. Constantly! Even working at your desk, she is pawing me for attention. This dog will never leave you alone, on the couch, at the dining table, in bed. They are affectionate and loving, but if you are a one human house hold, I do not recommend this dog as they are overwhelming and your life becomes your dog. They are great for families and couples, so you have some respite from exercising, training and constantly having this dog in your face! But, I would never give her up! Perseverance and love is key !
Love Vizslas !!! Got my first one in 1968 and have never changed my affection for them. Breeders should really pay more attention to the 1936 Breed Standards as they have been moving further and further from the original . Of course much of this may be due to the Texas Heart Institute took the 1,000's of the best of them as lab animals in place of Beagles.
Yes I missed my Vizsla Niko very much . A wonderful, beautiful and fun loving dog. I agree this breed needs a lot of exercise (which I did not give it enough) but he loved walking and had a beautiful gait reminiscent of a Peruvian Paso horse.
@@swiss7800 yes I get that but without exercise they most certainly wouldn’t be in the the correct mind frame to be mentally challenged. Exercise is everything with these dogs and if your not willing to do 20miles a day then don’t get this breed. Obviously if they get the required exercise they would be more than happy to be challenged mentally. So referring to the original comment made by “D” exercise does matter. It matters more than anything.
They're right, a dog only needs what its used to, if you bring it up used to 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins in the evening, that is all it will need
You should never get one if you live in the city or subdivision and you have no place to run them. They want to run 2-3 times a day not a walk on a leash dog. I used my atv to run mine 2-3 times a day 3-5 miles. If you can do that they are the most loving and gentile dog in the world. They are very smart and trainable if you spend the time with them. Again if you live in the city please don’t get one as it is not a good fit for the breed.

The Vizsla can easily run 20km a day? A well trained hunting Vizsla has no problem with 60 to 80 km on a hunting day. Furthermore male working Vizslas have some 30 kg body weight. 20 to 25 kg apply to female or City-Vizslas. I think it is a big mistake for the breed to become so popular. Vizslas are great working dogs and it must be a pain for them to be limited to live in a city only because they have a friendly character too.
Dear The Austrian, thank you for your comment! In the majority of your comment we agree and the producers of this channel are Hungarians. According to the standard, male vizslas should be around 29-30 as a maxumum. We all see and happy if we see vizslas working, but we also have to accept that the world is changing, if we want a breed to survive, they have to find their way in todays everyday surroundings.
Dear theAnalyst, thanks for the remark. We know, as the producers are Hungarians :) Unfortunately, according to ur experience, in English speaking countries they do not understand the Hungarian pronunciation of this word. Best regards, DogCastTV
Oh stop!!! The breed standard is docking of 1/3. My 31kg 20 month old male has a natural tail (at the time we got him I liked) He has twice fractured it and numerous times cut it causing unnecessary pain and bleeding. When he gets wiggle butt & “the whip” gets going look out!!!! I wish he was docked below the standard…
