It was not his guitar. It was the distortion pedal.. that has happened to me.. the DS-1 Boss pedals do that.

This!!! You gotta do the whole nevermind album (then watch the documentary from the sound producer Butch). Then the entire Nirvana Unplugged. Some of the best music from 90s - and included nirvana doing about 1/2 cover songs from several artists
All 3 of their studio albums are a masterpiece and the unplugged performance. It seemed to be all Kurt could do.

On the same show they did an awesome version of "Pennyroyal Tea." It's got the same vibe to it and his guitar stops working in that one, too. I don't know what order the songs come in with this show, but I have a feeling this came after the Pennyroyal Tea guitar breakdown, hence his throwing it on the floor. Maybe give that one a shot?

Since you can only hear Pat's guitar after Kurt's stopped working, Pat has a weird guitar tone with a lot of low end and almost sounds muffled. I am guessing that was to add a little more low end to fill out the sound since Kurt liked to push his mid range and Treble up.

You should react to "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" from their unplugged performance, it's considered by many to be one of Nirvana's greatest moments. The song is a cover by and only folk/blues singer named Huddie Leadbetter, as a side note, the origin of the song is a bit disputed with others claiming to have written it before him. But anyway, It will not disappoint.

Pat was their touring guitarist and was very visible (and audible) on the Unplugged album. He also later joined the Foo Fighters with Grohl.
1994 is the year Kurt Cobain died. That surpasses OJ, and Whatever else happened. I watched the 30 for 30 documentary on that year. It was a rough year. But Cobain's death surpasses everything else. Even The Juice getting away with murder..Payback for Rodney King. Nuff said..RIP Kurt
