I stayed on Richard Greene's sailboat in Sausalito Marina, Spring,1970, when He and Seatrain were in London recording the second Seatrain album at Abbey Road Studios produced by the great George (now Sir George) Martin.Richard is not only a great guy but in my humble opinion , the best fiddler there is.
I worked for him back in the 70's at sound city recording studios in LA....the version of Orange Blossom Special by Seatrain is the best I have ever heard....
Richards work with Seatrain on OBS is a MUSICAL MASTERPIECE that crosses many genres. I`ve gone through my old 33`s down my basement, just to find that album to play that song. It gives me chills each and every time. Orange Blossom Special is a beautiful classic that has been played by countless musician s, mastered by few, enshrined by one . You owe it to yourself to beg ,borrow or steal OBS by Seatrain, featuring this very talented man ,arguably , at his best.
Just fucking amazing, This "violin" Player has done more to shape the Violin and it's boundaries than any other Violin player in the last century or longer. Anyone who can not see this is residing in the land of pure delusion. Love, David
Even on a "simple" fiddle tune... TRISCHKA's a monster on the banjer! Oh, and Richard Greene plays with tons of "feel". Nuthin' better than fiddle n' banjo!

Yeeees! I lived in Marin then, too! Have always thought he is THE best fiddler! So happy to have this pop up!

why doesnt this have like a bajillion views and why did someone not like this....?
Seatrain was great and he played great on Gene Clark's No Other album, sometimes even using a wah, wah pedal, if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for posting!
Pretty amazing!🎶 👏

Richard's Orange Blossom Special along with Peter Rowan and the rest of Seatrain (ca.1970) is the best version ever recorded.
Tony please record "Spewgrass" as you did on the first Vancouver Folk Festival --along with Red Clay Ramblers et al--
Yep I say right down town 👍👏😁
Mad cool...Reminds me of the Ozark Mt. festival I attended in Arkansas.
Pure joy!

I like his playing, too.

Fantastic stuff ! This couldn,t be the Richard Greene who played with Arwen Mountain Stringband back in the 70,s perchance ?
Richard a quelque chose de Gerard Darmond....le kif et l'énergie, intacts.
The start reminds me of the joke "How long does it take to tune a banjo?" "Nobody knows!
Greene smokes - Bill Monroe's fiddler for a stretch, and of course Sea Train. Tony T's single string runs are effortless..
✨✨✨✨
His Methodist Preacher is awesome.
these guys are so good its disgusting hahaha
Can anybody name the other musicians here?
the fiddler kinda looks like steven spielberg
