Thankfully, the vast majority of people who watched President Zelensky’s interview with Alex Fridman saw exactly how naive Fridman was being. Zelensky came across extremely well whilst Fridman showed himself up badly. In fact, a number of potential subscribers to Fridman’s channel were lost in the process. Fridman left himself down very badly indeed. 😮

I’m flattered that Oleksii gave us (Finland) 10 days-that’s generous compared to the 3 days Western analysts gave Ukraine. But, much like those analysts, Oleksii would end up eating his words. Anyone familiar with the Finnish military, our geography, and our level of preparedness wouldn’t be surprised. Unlike Ukraine in 2022, we have a well-trained, well-equipped military that’s ready to go from day one, including a 900,000-strong reserve. On top of that, we embrace the concept of total defense, involving every aspect of society, with over 80% of the population prepared to defend the country. Russians are fools if they cross our borders and dead soon after. We're not afraid. We've done our homework.
Besides, the war game that came up with the 10-day timeline wasn’t even about Finland-it was focused on the Baltics, with the Suwalki Gap as the main target, if I’m remembering correctly. Other than that, great interview. Slava Ukraini!

I would not discount everything Russian, they did make great contributions to Western civilization. They were dragged into the Western world kicking and screaming by their czars and their education leading to these contributions was entirely European. Where did Dostoevsky and Tchaikovsky spend their time: in Germany. The very concept of writing books and composing symphonies is European. Russians are more like us than their Mongol overlords or China or Mesoamerica. Their penchant for gratuitous violence, sado-masochism on the other hand is very un-European. Not that Europe lacked brutality, but it evolved and the probability to run into someone that enjoy torturing because they like to see the victims suffer is much higher in Russia than anywhere else in Europe. The Nazis had to set up the concentration camps because the average soldiers got sick killing Jews, so they reduced the number of actual perpetrator of violence to a tiny portion of the German population (the SS camp guards).
For Russia to receive a peace agreement it needs to give up its gains from this war and the one in 2014. You are very correct that this war is a global war, and the west refuses to accept it is in the face of overwhelming evidence. Who in his right mind would deny that Russia’s best friend is North Korea and more importantly wants to live at the North Korean conditions.

    Canadian here.
I've never bought into the"great Russian culture" myth and I feel so badly for Ukraine. You've been treated do shabbily by the Western countries.
I feel that the myth of Russian culture is mainly an excuse and the bigger reasons that Ukraine had not been given the support it deserves are fear and greed.
Fear because the West bows to Putin's nuclear blackmail and greed because of the many ways that Russian money has corrupted western politics and businesses,
It's tragic that the US has elected Trump because he's not that different from Putin. Historically, the US has dominated Canada culturally and economically and now Trump is trying to crush Canada in much the same way Putin's Russia is trying to crush Ukraine.
Smaller pets need to unite for their freedom and sovereignty,

@gorishokgo5825 There's not much difference between living in China vs living in Russia right now other than China is much more modern.
And under Trump, the US will become more like both of them. Americans have maybe 1 or 2 more elections to save what's left of their crumbling democracy.
There are a lot of smart, fair progressive people in the US but 95% of them are too close and can't see what's coming. And if the US becomes like Russia and China m them we're all fucked anyway.

Look, I don't think Fridman's necessarily ignorant of the truth. Maybe he's willfully ignorant. I've been referring to him as a propagandist, but maybe he's not even that. Maybe he's ideological. Maybe he's chosen to place some kind of unshakable faith in the current Russian government. I personally consider Russia to be a fascinating country. I have since I was in elementary school, and I'm fifty-two now. I also happen to be an American. I deeply regret not having had the vision, when I was of traditional college age, necessary to have studied the Russian language, become fluent in it, and to have spent time in the country. I do feel that the only responsible way, to look at Russia, is to look at it objectively, and to see it for it's negative contributions to the world, as well as it's positive contributions. We have to see the good, and the bad. And, right now, the Putin Regime's actions, in Ukraine, are downright evil. There are no legitimate excuses for what's going on, and people have to stop making, or entertaining, excuses for what's going on.
