Mini cooper key fob not working alternate fix

Tried replacing key fob but mini would still not recognize key. Until i took apart dash to get to key slot.
Update* If you are still having issues try pushing down on key fob with 2 fingers at the 10 and 2 oclock postions while it is in the key slot while holding it confirm the no key symbol changes to key symbol and then start car.

Thanks man. I don’t have the key slash warning but I’m going to check if my connection is funky like yours. All my lights come on, no crank no street situation.

Hi, Great video. This could be what is wrong with my mini key fob. I need to remove my key fob slot to check wiring at the back. Is the trim easy to remove?

We have a similar problem with a 2011 minicooper. my wife used to go to costo after 2 hrs she want to go out again and it won't star. we check battery, fuses, clutch switch, and we make sure to be in parking..nothing ☹😣😣😣then we try the spare key and works fine😀..so bad key I don't know what was wrong with it..bud now we are driving it with the spare key..I hope this help someone..

Where did you get your key fob? Did you have to go through a dealer? I'm having the exact same issue...

dealer was expensive so i just but an empty key shell and opened up the old one and placed in empty shell and resoldered in a new battery.

what was the vehicle doing that made you suspect it was the key slot? my mini is a 2014 countryman not turning on at all with key, its not the battery and i checked all fuses. key lock and unlocks doors but when i place the key in the slot nothing happens. wont even turn on

I have the exact same issue with my 2010 Mini Cooper S, battery good, fuses good, clutch replaced with flywheel, it had trouble starting but it eventually did, now it wont start at all, it wont even chime when I enter the car.

Hey so I had the same issue but I replaced the ignition and the key itself. Does the new push and key slot need to be reprogrammed or is it already technically program with the key that I bought with it. What I need programming for the key itself because I bought this as a set for the ignition and the key itself

U have to code the CAS module to make function. CAS does not recognize the new key code. That is what i believe

Man, I'm not even getting a no key symbol. I've got nothing. Ordered a new fob from the dealer and same issue. There's nothing. I've had this car for 7 years and it's my only vehicle. I'm dying over here.

@@laurenceking2014 mine was my footwell module (FRM) I sent it off to a shop in Riverside and it works now, kinda. Still need to get a new one but it's several hundred more dollars to replace than to repair. Still have some electrical issues after the repair, but it starts and runs. Changing the battery is what took it out and, apparently, it's a known (and highly common!?) issue. Good luck!

@@CalibanTaylor Exactly the FRM module is a common problem is bmw and mini aswell. Always mini have that problem. I believe that the EPROM memory is corrupted sometimes. FRM symptoms are windowns no down or up, light problems, when the glass closes alone on the door, etc
