      I’m telling you that if you fry a lot the oil savings will pay for it. I was really surprised at just how clean the oil stays.

    Great review Aaron! Seems to be a great fryer, definitely paid for itself in the money saved in buying oil, the oil splatter will probably coat the unit over time and slow the rust issue...thanks for sharing, have a great week brother, you all stay safe!👍👊🍻🍺

      Very true! It was very cheaply coated but I am sure the heat and oil didn't help.

    I love my 4gal. I purchased mine at Cabelas, it gets used every weekend for Corn and for fries when the kids want some. I definitely recommend the next size up so you can fry a turkey. I loved it so much I purchased a 17gal for parties

    I have the same fryer and yes 4 wheels would be nice so I am ordering a set of 2" side mount lockable wheels and prob have to cut off some of the leg. I have learned when cleaning I empty oil and fill up with water & Dawn and heat water up and scrub out and flush till clear water. Reheat dry till dry and refill.

  • @awisniewski6290
    @awisniewski6290 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm thinking of buying one of these strictly for making fries at my farmer's market. Is it tedious to regulate temperature? I really don't want to have to be constantly having to fire it up. Thanks!

    • @BBQbyBiggs

      It hold temp well. If constant use occurs it will hold. If it is not used it can creep up.

    How often are you changing the propane tank?

    • @BBQbyBiggs
      @BBQbyBiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The good thing is that when it gets to temp you can turn it off for most of the cook so it’s not a gas hawg. I share it with the blackstone so I go through about a Reg tank a month or so. Not much at all considering. I am logging cooks now so I can answer that. Someone else asked. I’m at 8 now with plenty of gas left. So I’m hoping 20 cycles. We shall see.

    does frying fish make the other food taste fishy or can you interchange different types of food without a noticeable difference

    • @BBQbyBiggs
      @BBQbyBiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think because the remnants fall to the bottom you don’t. At least I do not taste them. I know in my other fryers if I reused oil I could definitely taste. This I cook plenty of fish and shrimp with no taste that I can detect. Everybody is different but I am sure someone in my family would say something and they have not.

    • @livebig247
      @livebig247 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking the same thing, that it might not due to that lower parr staying cooler. Thanks

  • @Ridgerider13
    @Ridgerider13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good review! So when you do have to dump the oil, where do you get rid of it? I always struggle with this issue using cooking oil for frying.

    • @BBQbyBiggs
      @BBQbyBiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a oil recycle place, I save it up and take it. Haven't had to go in quite a while

  • @rickf.9253
    @rickf.9253 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How does the oil not go rancid with that many cooks and not refrigerating it between cooks? Does the the lower part have easy access for cleaning or does it flush out pretty clean when it is drained? Thanks!

    • @BBQbyBiggs
      @BBQbyBiggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was expecting when I started using it to change the oil more often. Rancid oil as you know has a distinct smell and you know it when you smell it. Maybe it’s the clear frying oil that I used, or the particles falling into basically Unheated oil at the bottom. Different people may have different results but this is what I have gotten. It has a large drain at the bottom that allows oil changes and for it to drain out well. Again depending on what kind of oil you use will determine life and rancidity. It’s hard for me to change it more often if the smell and taste are good but going forward my results may be different and I think I will change it every 6 months regardless going forward. More if smelling it indicates rancid oil.

    I just bought one of these and when reading the manual it talks about the need to have the fryer 10 feet from any combustible objects. Is that true?

    • @BBQbyBiggs
      @BBQbyBiggs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You want to make sure that the exhaust definitely has room behind. The other is just in case you have a fire. A lot of folks have built them in to kitchens. Just didn’t use flammable material. I do not have 10 ft around mine at all angles. I believe they say that to be extra careful and keep from getting sued.

  • @androidgeeking
    @androidgeeking 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wait do you reheat the same oil for 1 year? I didn’t know you could do that

    • @BBQbyBiggs

      I never take mine out. Just leave it. No issues where I keep it in garage.

      @@BBQbyBiggs how about keeping it outside?

    • @BBQbyBiggs
      @BBQbyBiggs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on your location. Mine is in a shop that has no climate control in south Texas. I use the clear frying oil from Sams and have no issues. Actually just changed the oil and it was starting to get dark. If you cover with a tarp or trash bag you should have no issues outside. Try it. Mine works great.

    • @BBQbyBiggs
      @BBQbyBiggs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They also make a cover for the fryer but it’s a bit spendy. Trash bag wit a bungee and you are good. Just to keep ants and bugs out.

    I'm gonna end I really like your reviews Mr. Big unfortunately your video is not sink with your lips movements and it looks really bad when you hear your voice going on but your lips aren't moving or your lips are moving in your voice isn't

    • @BBQbyBiggs

      Sometimes when you watch a video and it is using Bluetooth it does this. This is the first I’ve heard of it on this video and I opened it on my phone attached to my Carplay in my ford truck and sure enough the lips do not match the voice. I tried it on the phones speaker and it is all good. I attached it to my Bluetooth speaker and it is fine. Did you have it hooked to Bluetooth speaker or CarPlay? Thanks for pointing it out.
