But what do I know, I'm basically skier on board 😄. I grow up skiing, started snowboarding as teeneger, my whole family are skiiers also most of my friends. I enjoy riding on groomed slopes, don't go into park, because jumping is scary. I have too much self-preservation and scared of breaking my neck. Also back-country, which I see a lot on TH-cam, seem like so much trouble. I like speed and doing nice carved turns. I am in Europe and that's what I see most people doing, even snowboards. Everybody just ride on groomed pistes and noone goes "off road". Over here I don't really see much difference between skiers and snowboarders, but maybe it's because I hangout mostly with skiers or mixed groups. • @tainicon4639
      @tainicon4639 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

This is a major complaint that skiers have about snowboarders. The lack of maneuverability that snowboards have means that you need to have much higher situational awareness. It’s not fair… But it is the reality. Skiers can ski much closer to each other and direction much more easily so the likelihood of crashing is lower. If you’re on a snowboard, you need to stay further away from people to avoid hitting them.

No. Skiing is better for many reasons Easier Learning Curve for Beginners: Many people find skiing easier to learn initially compared to snowboarding. The movements involved in skiing, such as using poles for balance and having separate skis for each foot, can feel more intuitive for some beginners.
Varied Terrain Accessibility: Skiers often have an easier time navigating varied terrain, including moguls, steep slopes, and deep powder. The design of skis allows for different techniques and maneuvers across diverse conditions.
Faster Speeds: Skiers can achieve faster speeds than snowboarders due to the ability to use poles for additional propulsion and stability. This can be exhilarating for those who enjoy speed sports.
Freestyle Options: While snowboarding is often associated with freestyle terrain parks, skiing also offers extensive freestyle options with features like jumps, rails, and halfpipes. Some skiers appreciate the versatility of being able to enjoy both freestyle and traditional skiing.
Accessibility of Equipment: Skiing equipment, including skis, boots, and bindings, tends to be more readily available for rental and purchase at most ski resorts and shops compared to snowboarding equipment. This accessibility can make it easier for individuals to get started with skiing.

I’ve never seen a skier glue their skiis together to make their equipment better. However I see split boards all the time. Meaning even snowboarders deep down know skiing is better.
If you want to face life sideways go for it.
I’ll be here facing it straight on.
Not to mention skiing has so many more disciplines. Cross country, both skate and stride, Nordic downhill etc.
And skiers jump higher, go faster and do more tricks because of the limiting factor of having your feet strapped in on a snowboard.
If you enjoy it more, go for it.
    But let’s not pretend.

Idk I think the opposite, I feel like skiing takes a bit to get the hang of, but I was able to go down a double black on my first day snowboarding.

My dad summed it up well:
Skiing is easy to learn but hard to master
Snowboarding is hard to learn but easy(er) to master
That's probably why schools take kids on ski trips and not snowboard trips lol

personally I like both for different reasons. snowboarding is way better in powder but i much prefer doing trees and moguls on skis. i personally don't like the snowboarder culture though because there's a lot of people who i don't vibe with or who do a little too much weed or alcohol for my taste. but skiiers don't have much of a group personality tbf

I like both equally because of the fact that you can do different tricks so if you were to compare them in the park you just can’t and I’m 13 and I ski so I’m biased anyways so it’s not just for old people

Park skiers are so much cooler then park snowboarders but normal skiers aren’t very cool unless they’re hitting cliffs or something, otherwise it just a bunch of rich people were those weird tight suits with fur hoods or whatever.

    completely unbiased here
~ Skiing is easier to learn basics and do a lot of simple skills but the more you do it the longer it takes to progress
~ snowboard is much harder to start off but there’s a little bump where if you manage to get over it, if because much easier. Also tricks are easier because you only have to manage one thing on your feet.

I d like to do snowboarding, but i live far from the mountains and i started with skiing. I learned it really fast, instead of snowboarding that it's much difficult to learn. So i think that for someone that do it 1 o 2 times a year and never learned skiing or snowboarding, it's Better start with ski

Personally I like downhill skiing better cuz u never have to clip in when u get if the lift and if ur a snowboarder, and there is a flat part u have to jump to the hill but w skiing u have poles so u can move and one last thing, skiing is better cause when u snowboard ur neck is facing the side in a unnatural way but w skiing your body is natural

IMO skiing is better, I’ve done both, I tried both when I first started and decided I enjoyed skiing more, I just don’t like the idea of not being able to move my legs around

Would you rather have nice comfy boots but you have to undo and redo them every time you get to the top and bottom of a slope. Or would you rather have slightly uncomfortable boots but once their on your good.

The thing is people don’t like how both of your feet are tied together on a board/snowboard and then with skiing you have more freedom with your legs and so if you fall on skis the skis will come off unlike a snowboard

Love that they are both amazing things to do for your preference of fun! In life, ive learned that anything that can make your life fun and have an amazing time is a huge win regardless if people think its stupid or love it. Its about us and us only. Nothing we do as people should even have to do with others' concern of ones loves. If i wanna ski or ride park/street on my blades or if i wanna skateboard/snowboard then that would make ME happy and not anyone else. Do what makes yall happy! The judging of others and hate for wha they do is messed up. Coming from a point of view of a 39 year old kid thats been on snow for over 30 years and done a lot in my life. Hard times and good times alike, life is crazy and when you have a good outlet to express yourself its absolutely a blessing.
