This man is very humble. Im glad Conan invited him back on his show. On his first movie, he was nominated for an oscar. IF any new actor has that achievement, then they deserve ALOT of credit.
I feel like he really deserved the oscar for Captain Phillips. He was able to make what could be a very stereotipical role into a really complex character while still being scary as hell, and he improvised what turned out to be the most famous line in the movie. PLUS it was his first movie ever. I think Jared Leto's performance was pretty good but not worthy of winning, it relied more on his weight loss and make up than the actual performance.
That applies more to Matthew Mccounauhey and his weight loss. Jared Leto's was more because the role required such remarkable acting to pull off that level of complexity.
If people are hating you because of the movie you took part in as a villain. It means you've done a great acting by making it so realistic and believable.
Here you have a guy who is so humble and just happy to play a part opposite of Tom Hanks regardless of pay, and yet you have so many other Hollywood stars who seem so ungrateful for the opportunities given to them. GOG bless this humble man!
..about that last bit, Andy just randomly throws it at Conan because he knows Conan's going to catch it...and he sure does. This is why this show is so good.
Literally yesterday we were reading Hamlet in class and we got to choose the parts that we read so I chose the Captain just so I had an excuse to say "Look at me, Look at me... I'm the captain now"
I'm a bartender and I moved to Miami, FL not too long ago and was introduced to the commonality of Haitian's working in the back of restaurants. One of the guys reminded me of Barkhad so I went up to him one day still not knowing his name and said "I'm the captain now!" and he looked at me like I was crazy. I told him to go home and watch this movie. The next day I got to work and I was in the back looking for a knife to cut garnishes and I hear behind me, "I'M DEE CAPTAN NOW!" with my knife in his hand. We now say "I'm dee captain now" as a way of saying hello to each other every single day, as he doesn't speak English and I don't speak Creole. lol.
Watch Pirates Of Somalia if you like him. I fell in love with him. So vulnerable, loyal, kind, and selfless. He conveys such wisdom without words. The world is a better place with him in it.
not really that whole back and forth between them, however spontaneous it appears was rehearsed. he fed him the line so he could say the parachute joke, here endeth the lesson
