    When it was originally shared, this video showcased the original prototype of CHOMPI's hardware and demonstrated some of the basic possibilities of the instrument. However, since this video was released we've made a number of significant improvements and upgrades to both the hardware and the firmware... as such, this video should not be viewed as a formal tutorial on how to use the device but rather an introductory placeholder into the world of CHOMPI CLUB. Please visit the resource page of our website to find updated materials and tutorials on the most recent version of CHOMPI.

    We seriously can't thank you ALL enough for your encouragement and support for our lil' CHOMPI instrument!!! We’re sorry that we can't answer all of your questions directly... but here's a couple answers to some of the FAQ's: First off, regarding additional features and functionality... this video really only demonstrates the "tip of the iceberg!" CHOMPI is designed to evolve! Once we fulfill all of our kickstarter pre-orders this Fall, we plan to start releasing Alternate Firmware Options and expanding the ever growing CHOMPI ecosystem. We don't want to give away too many secrets just yet... but it's safe to say that this is only the beginning. // With regards to pricing, the Kickstarter Pre Order Price will be $499USD. We understand that this may be out of reach for some people… but to be completely transparent with you all, if we could offer CHOMPI for a lower price (while still retaining its high quality hardware and ethical business practices) we would. CHOMPI Club is a small boutique company, passionate about offering instruments that can be enjoyed by everyone, assembled with love in the USA, using high quality components. // Hopefully this helps answer a few of your questions… stay tuned ;)

      $500 for a sampler like this is standard, The SP404 be costing that much any vintage samplers that have controls like this that you don't have to use midi instruments on to get playback will cost this much. Sounds like Chompi is gonna have a home in my studio!

    • @JaegarX
      @JaegarX ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Have you ever considered making this instrument hot-swappable? Since the keys are akin to that of a mechanical keyboard, giving people the ability to customize the feel of their Chompi by replacing switches would make the experience of using this keyboard a lot better. This also opens up the possibility for analog-switch support, which could add a weighted keystroke feature to the Chompi. Imo this would make the Chompi a lot more interesting to use.

      This. The Bob Ross effect is in play here. This is for sure not a master's instrument, but without some basic musical horsesense all you're going to make with it is noise. Having said that, this looks like a perfect way to gain that horsesense in the first place. It's an entry level synthesizer, looks like something that'd have been right at home in 70s prog rock.

    • @ex0ja

I’m not wealthy enough to spend $500-600 upfront when I’m not certain I’ll love & stick with the hobby.
      It would be so cool if low cost Chompi rentals became a thing in the near future.

    Looks awesome, i like the keyboard button approach - looks very well thought out and sounds nice. Which connections are possible? Does it have memory on its own or externals? Midi? CV? What is the output soldered to, minijacks or solid connection? Questions over questions, it looks very promising :)

    Nice! Is the handle removable? Wished that this would have inbuilt speakers, battery just like Casio SK-1. 😊 And 1-15 would be to 16 step so you could use 1-16 for sequencingsteps. 😊

    I was like "Oh, this is a pretty neat sampler", and then you spun the purple knob backwards and turned the magic knob, and my jaw dropped. This is the coolest thing I've seen, I want it now.
    Edit: Ouch, just saw the $500 early bird price on your website. That's a little steep for me right now, but I would be glad to purchase this at some point later. It's maybe a bit high for what it is, but I also have to remember y'all are a new business, and the hardware seems incredibly high-quality.
    I'm not one to invest in kickstarters just because of all the failed projects that never deliver, but I will purchase it for the higher price after the campaign if it's successful.
