    Thank you thank you Claire. I really appreciate these guides. I'm new to MTB, rode BMX for years so I'm pretty good on a bike. But there's a fair amount to learn in making that transition.
    I've only really ridden Duthie and a couple of other places around the city in my first couple months riding. Looking to gear up and head to some proper trails now and it's hard to find videos about this stuff. Evo has a great written guide for a bunch of places around. But videos are always better.
    These are great!

    Thanks for your videos, they are great. Ive been primarily riding blues and looking to transition to blacks. Since I ride alone it’s a daunting proposition. Ive heard OTG on tiger is a good first one as an example. But what could be a really good set of videos for the area that doesn’t exist and can help riders progress is outlining trails that can help riders progress and transition from intermediate to advanced without killing themselves and enjoying the process. Im surprised to now see trails marked red that were previously black even on tokul like crazy ivan so I know they are for sure out of reach at the moment and that helps.

    • @ClaireJencks
      @ClaireJencks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your suggestion! What are some of your current favorite blues?

    • @seattlevkk
      @seattlevkk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClaireJencks Thanks for replying and considering my input. I've done Tiger blues a few times ( preston, joyride etc) and didn't have any trouble and really enjoyed those. I love all the ones at Lord hill. I've done Raging River, and while poppin tops is technically a black, it wasn't that difficult just steep in parts and I just didn't do the jumps. The only blue that I feel is pushing my limit in our area is "You're going down" at Cherry valley but I have fun on that too just that my heart beats a bit faster. Ive also done some blues on Galbraith ( whoopsie doodle, bears lair etc) and those were a bit more difficult than some in our area but didn't feel they were outside my ability. I have also done the blues on Tokul east and west and they were fine too. Basically I've done most of the blue trails east of seattle and west of snoqualmie pass. I have practiced drops and (simple) jumps at Duthie, just not on trails but I plan to keep working on that.. :)

    Nice video I really don't care that much for tokul as there's too much road climb. Much prefer Maple valley I'm also liking and told McDonald again. Somebody made an s load of new trail in the clear cut and use that with a combination of what's left it's pretty damn good. start from Ames lake it's much better than climbing up it's a b****

    • @ClaireJencks
      @ClaireJencks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rad! Thanks for watching. I like Tolt McDonald as well - there are just so many places to choose from around here - we’re spoiled for choice. Maple 🍁 valley in wonderful for XC, do you prefer Henry’s ridge area instead of Tokul, or just generally that whole area.

    • @craigmckinnon242
      @craigmckinnon242 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Henry's ridge is my least favorite because it's not very technical. I really like that that technical loop tribulation which is in the south east corner of the trails. on the other side of the road the west side not many people go there it seems but I think that place is terrific you can really do a whole lot of technical riding and cross country riding over there. Also the the skills area that they built this is superb there's some terrific jumps and if you're really a big jumper there's a big jump area Maple valley's got it all.
      As I've been riding 35 years now that I'm 60 years old. I was with the old bbtc which is pre evergreen. I think looking back that rolling terrain is is the best you don't have all this great big giant climb and then kind of straight down which is not as rewarding as doing a whole bunch of technical trails my opinion. See yaahut

    • @ClaireJencks
      @ClaireJencks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree with your assessment on technical versus long climb for just a bit of downhill. Maple valley really does have it all.

      Hi Rod! Thanks so much, I'm glad these videos help out with heading to new areas. You are correct that you need a permit to ride here. Hi! Tokul West is your best bet for beginner riding - bonfire, bon bon and moonraker were just logged but still fun to ride - and poopy d and middle are awesome (esp as the sun is setting - fantastic views). Bobsled is a bit of step up but is the best beginner friendly way out of Tokul west at the end of a ride. Tokul East-> upper Ivan XC to midtown XC to lower midtown is a fun blue loop.
