    The best defender for mosquitos and biting bugs is Avon Skin So Soft Expedition version in the green spray can. No deet to melt cameras and is smells nice. One application lasts all day and bugs don't land on you. I used it for multiple photo trips to remote parts of Alaska and Canada for weeks at a time. I never go on a photo trip without it.

    I like what you said about not needing a polarizer as the greens were so vibrant already. I recently started to process a photo I took over a month ago and was amazed at how green it was. Especially as the background is a snow covered peak. I actually had to desaturate the greens because no one would ever believe it otherwise. Another great video Adam. The intro was awesome and the photos were excellent. Your skill in finding shots in such chaos is amazing.

    I did enjoy your video. I think your images are gorgeous. I love that last one. When I saw the bugs I started itching. They've been really bad here. I discovered something about using Deet. I found this out from someone in my camera club. A bit too late for me on one lens but I'm more careful now. I got a smudge on the markings on my lens. Apparently the Deet can interact with the ink or dye of the lens markings and make them smudge. I'm careful to wipe my hands with a wipe before I handle my lenses when I use Deet. Thanks for another video!!!

      Love it! A bit heavy to slog around but I'm enjoying it

    • @RewDowns
      @RewDowns 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QuietLightPhoto Great to hear, I only use geared heads so it's been helpful to hear your reviews on them. The cube is supposedly the pinnacle of geared heads but I'd love to hear how it actually performs in the field. I have the Arca Swiss P0 Hybrid, which sounds perfect on paper but in the field, it didn't live up to my expectations, the lack of a base pan was a deal breaker for me.

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it is very expensive as I'm sure you know. I'm not sure it's the greatest head to carry in the field as it is heavy and I dont believe would take too much knocking about. I'm guessing that it was really made for studio use. The only downfall for me in it's use is that the small knob to swivel the head is located in a spot that catches on the plate and level of my FLM tripod. So there are times that I have to re-adjust the position of the legs so that I can tighten the small lever.

    • @RewDowns
      @RewDowns 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QuietLightPhoto Nice, thanks for your honesty. Yes, it's probably best suited for studio use or interior/architecture, I also worry that those gears are too exposed and could collect dirt when slugging about outside. Hard to find something perfect for every job but it sounds like the cube would be best for interior/studio work, and the P0 Hybrid would be a good compromise for landscape work. I primarily shoot architecture so I might look more into the cube but if those issues bother you too much I would recommend trying the Arca Swiss P0 hybrid (ballhead + geared in a very small package). I'd be willing to sell mine for a good price or do a trade + more $ for the cube, let me know if you're interested.
