I absolutely love the 717, and just like the Fokker 100... They're such a unique addition to the Aussie landscape. They take off like a rocket.

Love your videos, going to do the same trip, albeit in a Link Airways Saab on New Year’s Day 😂🎉

Great Video, the 717 is an amazing aircraft to fly on and will be missed.

On the hand hand, I’m sad the 717 will disappear from our skies (you certainly captured the impressive sounds) … on the other hand, super excited for the A220! 😃

0:34 I used to work in Qantas hanger 245 back when it was 747 heavy maintenance, I remember just how quiet the 717s were taxiing past to the point you could hardly hear them. 🇦🇺

We flew back economy from Hobart a few weeks back and must admit they were quite noisy toward the back

Great video. Those DC-9/MD-8X/717 aircraft have really stood the test of time. Built like tanks to fly for decades. Flown on them numerous times and sad to see them all leaving the skies. You have to love the engine noise !!

Nice review! Will definitely miss these gorgeous MD series aircraft soooo much. 😢😢
Had once onboard Qantas’ 717 from CBR-BNE and twice inter-island with Hawaiian

This is quite distressing to see this aircraft disappearing. Especially for me because this was the first aircraft I flew in Business Class, and the first time travelling alone with my brother and grandparents back in 2017 when I was 9. So bright and early, my mum dropped my brother and I off at our grandparent's place, and then we got a luxury uber to the domestic Qantas Terminal, went through check-in and security and went to the qantas club to have breakfast, and then we walked to the gate, and there was our 717 waiting to take us to Hamilton Island.

I've flown these a bunch of times between MEL and CBR and MEL and HBT and they're absolute rocket ships. Will be a sad day when the last one is retired

Great video Aidan, always very informative and well produced.
I'm on a Qantaslink 717 from Canberra to Melbourne soon. Been on them a few times, lovely old T jet aircraft.

Great video! It will be sad to see the B717 era draw to a close, but we do have the A220 era to look forward to.

This route has the highest cancellation rate in Australia and the fares charged by Qantas are an absolute rip-off. I know Canberra Airport's operator also carries some of the blame for the exorbitant prices but Qantas does its reputation no good here. Let's hope the new management brings in more reliable service together with new aircraft and reasonable fares on this route.

As a very tall person that lives in Canberra, I hope to god the new A220 will have a better seat pitch than these.
