I was eating Rowes pasties before you were born. My school was next door to the pasty factory. Rowes were good then, but now they’re rubbish. I find the majority of Cornish pasties are very mediocre although Brays &Ks in Redruth are consistently good. I find I eat a pasty once every five years.
I know Rowes have made pasties for other companies in the past, not sure if they do now. They used to be good, they were hand made in the shops that morning. Now just made in bulk in a large factory on the outskirts of Falmouth
@@jasperedwards2713 No, they’re not. Turnips are Brassica rapa rapa, while swedes are Brassica napus and the product of hybridisation with cabbages. Not the same species, you’d be better off arguing turnips and bok choy are the same thing.
@@StephandPete well I loved a Choak pasty but unfortunately Charlie Choak retired so NO more pasties I have one left in my freezer for an emergency 🥲 ! Anyway Charlie’s father Henry and Mr Rowes started together in the old bakery on the back of Albert cottages near to the observation tower . But went there separate ways I think because of the pastry??
@@StephandPete so go to places are St Agnes pasty or Philp’s pasty’s in Hale it’s really hard to replace a Choak pasty indeed I do home made pasties with thin pastry and they are great . But it’s the time it takes but to be honest the homemade are probably the best replacement . 👍🏻😎 loved your little TH-cam video and it inspired me to make pasties today
I fell in love with pasties when I was stationed in Cornwall back in the 80s.

In Cornwall we say Swede - Bloody Minded Northerners call them turnips. Like their Heads.

@StephandPete or do they? we never have a car when we come to Falmouth. 😭
Meat??????? What meat? Tinned chopped Ham with Pork? You'd lost me after a minute. And Only Falmouth? Come on! So Lazy.
How can you find the best pastie by just going to Falmouth..that's stupid and lazy
Looking forward to your video on the subject!
