Contreras is hot too, and so is Brice Turang. Rhys Hoskins hasn't been a .300 hitter but his power has been pretty good as well. A lot of the young guys are really doing some amazing stuff. The fielding has been great, the hitting has been great, and the speed has been decent. Contreras' arm behind the plate has been wicked too. If Gary Sanchez can find his power stroke consistently and/or Yelich can stay healthy and continue his fierce hitting, this could be a great opportunity for this team.
It's really odd to see the Cards below .500. They've been a great team for a long time. Usually at the top of the division. One thing is certain however, the Cardinals won't stay down for long. This team has been resilient for decades. The Brewers young players have made this team really exciting to watch. I was extremely critical of the trades for Hader, Burnes, etc, but Gasser was amazing, and Ortiz has been great as well.
Same bro! I’m very disappointed in them too ! They need to get there act together and also play better ! No More Errors ! Like we’re playing like the Major League Movie players! Lol smh 🤦♂️do better !
Well as I've said before, I've been extremely critical of this team's front office and it's "fire sale" of top players like Josh Hader and Corbin Burnes, but after seeing this kid's debut, Gasser was a great acquisition for the team. Impressive is a understatement. Ortiz has been a great pick up as well. These young players are bringing an excitement back that we haven't had since the Prince Fielder, Rickie Weeks, Ryan Braun, JJ Hardy days, and I'm going to say that I was too critical. This team is on fire and with Yelich back in the lineup, Adames, Contreras, and Turang hitting doubles, triples, and homeruns left and right. I'm praying for a deep deep run into the playoffs and BEYOND this time.
I don't understand how the Cardinals can't HIT the baseball. All they ever do is lazy flyouts, infield dribblers or popout in foul territory. Why can't they DRIVE the ball with authority?
Totally agree they don't take any pitches their strike zone is gigantic.timr for mgr, hitting coach, pitching coach to hit the road.they won't win 65 games.they duck.
@@ThomasHathaway-ft9fu actually I think they are too picky and take too many balls on the corners for strike outs. Can't make things happen taking pitches. The only one who might be swinging at out of zone pitches is Goldy. And most of those he usually pounded for doubles in the past.
The timing of the Hader trade was probably the worst of any trade ever…. But it eventually brought in Contreras and now Gasser…. In the future I’m not so mad.
Everybody else seems to have pitchers to call up from their Minor leagues, and they pitch well. The Cardinals not so much. The defense falls asleep with the pitchers we have, or else they must avoid bullets hit in every direction their way. Mo must go. The roster and lack of Minor league player development is his fault, not Marmol's.
The pitchers are less the problem than the inordinate string of mediocre, anemic-hitting outfielders. Why in the world did they dump Arozarenas and Garcia?!? The lineup has almost zero athleticism beyond Winn and no spark beyond that outside of Contreras (and Donovan to a lesser degree). It doesn't help that they have two regulars playing out of position, while Burleson shouldn't be out in the field!
@@damac5136 Burleson gets a bad rap. He has the strongest, most accurate arm on the team, led the Cardinals last season in outfield assists throwing out runners, and he did it in far fewer games than the rest of the outfielders played. He is better in RF than in LF, because of the turn he has to make to throw left-handed into the bases. In all cases, he is better than Walker was. Nootbaar and Herrera should be included in the list of players with enthusiasm out there. Both of those guys have picked up the pace on offense lately, along with Contreras. I can't lay blame on Mo for the players traded away, we had needs that required offering who he offered. But I do strongly blame him for not properly evaluating the players he has brought in.
I actually thought the Cardinals would compete with my cubs for the NL central I had them in the wild card too this is a bad team looks like it’s just us and the Brewers for the Central
Indeed, quite the blind "analysis" had them as frontrunners. I could've told them it was not so after watching the Cards last year, and they didn't exactly get younger and/or more dynamic.

Look where the Year 2000 old player roster strategy is taking St. Louis in 2023/4.
Gasser looked great! Can't wait to see more from him

His sweeper is legitimately one of the best in the league already. He has huge potential
