From my experience trade holds usually occur in areas where there are high reported theft. The hold is in case authorities report the trades as stolen.
Gamestop sent me a repro (fake) copy of Final Fantasy VI on GBA yesterday. Went to return it in store and the employee was new and thought I was scamming him. I respect them carrying more retro games but they need to train employees to recognize when a trade in is fake.
Its hard to tell half the time. Its a 50/50 guess. We do have reference materials of what to look for. But when it comes to NES and SNES repros we don't know unless we open them up. Which is what we are not allowed to do. Gamestop is more concerned with fake retro games. More so than repros. At least with repros you still get and play the game.
After looking at my computer at work all day, it has been hard to then relax with games later in the day, my eyes are tired as it is . New job so hopefully I’ll get used to it
