As soon as you connected the first two pieces and the teeth were off-set like that, it seemed pretty obvious that this jigsaw didn't have a square grid. [The prime number of pieces also gives that away.] I don't know if I would've gotten the trick with the sides from that, though
I had already figured out where this is going when I heard "it redefined the way we look at jigsaw puzzles" whoever made this is truly evil in a way the rest of humanity cannot fathom.
