UPDATE: On 11/18/20, Major Magic’s announced via Facebook they would be closing their doors. There was supposed to be an auction held two days later but it was postponed indefinitely.

So glad to see coverage on these guys! Sadly, the new location's animatronics seem to have their air pressure up a bit too high, and I've heard they lack flow controls like they're supposed to. Hopefully it doesn't damage them. :(
I was the first Major Magic at the Livonia store. I had a blast working there for about 4 years until I went to College. Thanks for posting these. I hope Clinton stays open long enough for me to go get some Soldier Boys.

fun trivia: one of the barbara stringband animatronics was a retrofitted billy bob which was given a longer neck, and the banjo playing bear at 1:07 was a retrofitted beach bear [much easier to tell with that one, with the arms and legs placement]
these animatronics were later turned back into billy bob and beach bear and put into a rockafire at a restaurant in israel, billy bob kept the long neck and beach bear kept the mask from major magics.
Don’t forget dook was turn into flash the lion

one time i saw most of these animatronics on a truck carrying them, i can send pictures to anyone who’d like them. i was trying to find where they were from for awhile, and i couldn’t find where they were from. then i stumbled across a video showing the bear and it showed “major magics” and i searched it up on youtube. thank you for telling me about this.
Not sure if anyone corrected you yet but the “second generation” animatronics were only in the one location killer gorilla was in. Because of the large cast of characters when the were opening multiple locations they reused animatronics from different shows. One location they bought was a showbiz location so they retrofitted fatz, beach bear was turned into burly hives, billy bob was retrofitted into barbra stringband, and I’m not sure what they did with the other rocka fire characters. An Israel Showbiz called billy bobs pizzatron bought the show and retrofitted them back to the rocka fire. They kept burly’s mask and billy bobs neck alterations they didn’t even buy fatz a jacket they just sewed a new one. You can find the video of pizzatron just by looking it up in fact I think you should make a video about that also major magics reopened for less then a year on 2020 but closed and sold the animatronics because of covid

I have incredibly vague memories of an arcade with animatronics from childhood in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area in Michigan that I have been looking for info on since I've been a teen. I think this might actually be it. I have old but distinct memories of one of the animals singing Billy Joel's River of Dreams, and playing a lot of video games when I was really young.
Nickelodeon is actually based on an orchestrion, a self playing piano with usually two sets of organ pipes, a xylophone, and various untuned percussions like drums, they usually run on paper rolls

And since Cavity Sam is busy with her animatronics we can only hope that they go to somebody who also has great skills in animatronics
I'm surprised the "second generation" (RAE retrofit) bots were stiffer - RAE characters are usually very fluid. Perhaps they just weren't taking proper care of them?
I thought I made this place up. I remember the animatronics but not much else. I am guessing I was young
time to point out an error:
the "2nd gen animatronics" we're actually from one location, and they were actually the bigger and smoother ones. they came from a location that was once a showbiz pizza place, and retrofitted some of the animatronics to ones from that showbiz. this improved the honey bear holler, but worsened the rock and roll rebellion.
Wow does this bring so many good memories.we had one in Oakland county Madison heights Mi back in late 80s .I got few pics of my birthday there.. I remember the coins and little rides and my favorite skee ball .oh and if course that little ride you would sit and strap yourself in and it would go around in a circle up and down . Then at the end before you leave you would cash coins in to get tickets for candy and small little toys. It wasn't much but it was one of the most cherished memories . Major magics was right down street from me so I had a lot of great times there!
The location I went to as a kid had the gorilla and they always played Dire Straits “Walk Of Life”

They played that song at my local MM too. Was in Muhlenberg Pennsylvania. Was the best place ever as a kid.
I would've wanted to see the Clinton Township location since I heard about it at the time. But it closed before I even got to see it.

I went to a Major Magic's location. About ablind I recall of the show is that one of the characters had a British accent.
1:08 The 2nd Generation are just retrofits of Showbiz bots. Burley is Beach Bear and Barbra was a retrofitted Billy bob, The rest were just normal bots
The second gen MM animatronics were mostly all RAE retrofits, it's quite interesting, maybe they made a showbiz go out of business and bought the bots?

Actually the ones that are stiffer are retrofits of the rock afire explosion the kills gorilla is from the same location of the stiffer ones and after major Magic’s closed they were sold to a random pizza place in a different country
I grew up on the north side of Clinton Township and there was a Major Magic's a very short distance away, in a shopping plaza at the corner of M-59 and Romeo Plank Road. Getting to go there for a birthday party was always a treat. It couldn't last though, and was already gone by the time I moved away from the area in '98. The pizza wasn't all that great as I recall, but the food wasn't supposed to be the main attraction anyway. Nevertheless, I have some great memories associated with Major Magic's. So sad that the attempted revival failed because of COVID.

Im pretty sure the second generation burly was a retrofit of Beach Bear. Since that location had a few retrofitted Rock-afire characters.
The original major magics in Clinton sing in still up and the building is on sale funiture is still in their but I don’t know about the animatronics

There's lot lot of information BUT for the most part,they are not MAJOR errors. All in all, it was entertaining..
Here's an update for everyone. They are re-opening their Clinton Township, MI location on October 20, 2020
I just heard of this place from a randem comment from a vid on a restaurant called, if y'all believe this, "The Pizza Planet" , a 1984 restaurant similar to that of Banjo Billy's. this place was briefly mentioned in that comment, but persuaded me to look it up nonetheless. and on opening night, too! amazing coincidence!
