Mike Curtin was the first NYPD cop that I rode with when I came back to NY in 1995. I was a 12 year veteran cop from South Florida and a Marine. Sgt Curtin was a new Sgt and he chose me to be his driver and Im sure it was because I was a veteran cop and a Marine, as was he. I can tell you this. On day one he showed me respect. He conveyed to me how much he loved ESU and how he was only doing his time as a Sgt in the 113 because he had to but that he was going back to ESU as soon as his time at the 113 was up. BUT! BUT! More than that i wanna tell anyone who sees this that in one day he spent 95% of his time telling me about his 3 girls and how he coached their soccer teams. He lived for that from what I gathered. A bright eyed, optimistic, happy, loving father and husband. He was my introduction to NYPD after 12 years in Florida and he made me happy that I made the move to come back home to NYPD. God bless the Curtin family. I’m a better man for having met Mike and I was saddened by the news. RIP Mike and Semper Fi.

Except firemen wouldn’t know what to do with a rifle in their hands 🤣
